Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE February 14 through April 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes “how can you love someone else if you can’t love yourself”.
There are many ways we don’t show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over “why did I drink too much” and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happier”. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isn’t here, so let’s deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what not to care about. Your health, your family’s health, doing what works for your corner of the world. Let go of the things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my “flaws” have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when I’m alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

Another gloomy day yesterday, but not much rain until the afternoon. We headed to the trail mid-morning, it misted a little, but was otherwise very pleasant. There were thunderstorms in the afternoon. It stayed in the 40's until around midnight, it's now in the low 20's. Not sure if we'll get out to walk, maybe in the afternoon if the sun comes out. I've got some weird aches and pains in my back and ribcage, otherwise doing well.
Liz- I know you know how it feels to lose a beloved pet. Hugs.
Murphy- Sorry Callie woke you up in such a manner. Glad the motel ministry went well.
GG- WTG acknowledging how you feel and taking a self care day.
Jan- WTG AF48, steps, meals planned, buying yourself a book and magazine, getting the bloodwork done. I saw a post on FB where someone had dozens of cardinals at their bird feeder.
Cindy- Sorry about your terrible winter weather and your achiness. Hugs!
Carole- I love the image of Angel chasing bunnies and being free of pain.
Cathy- WTG for tracking, OP, walking, scale moving in the right direction. Glad you were able to go to the bank. I'm O+. According to the woman that cuts my hair, she is immune b/c she is O-. Hope she is right, but is still taking precautions.

"I am happiest when I take care of myself first" Good Morning. Of course as I near my 50 day AF mark I have to take a detour! The wine I didn't drink for Valentine's because I didn't want it before my blood work, called my name last night after a crazy work day and then thoughts of missing my mom. 5 years ago today she passed, seems the time has flown by. Neither are good "excuses" but now it's in the past. Today I will honor her by being AF as she would like. I said I was going to use more of my weeklies this week and I'm sure on track for that!! Today I've packed a salad and have dinner planned as I won't get home until after 5 today. Control what I can control. Hoping we are on the upswing with the temps and can take some outside walks again soon. HOpe you all have a good day. Jan Amy. Well, maybe it really is lizard warnings, last year in this cold the iguanas were falling out of the trees in Florida . Sorry about the aches and pains. My arm was so sore this morning, weird, just from having the blood draw. Hope you get some weather warm enough to walk today. Carole. So sorry about Angel. Sure it will feel strange for quite a while not to see her at home. Hugs Cathy. Glad you could get to town and the bank. Good for you not stressing about the points and just following what works for you. Now we'll really see how my higher point week works on WI day!! Cindy. Your weather is crazy, have you lost power??? Stay in and stay warm!! GG. How are you feeling today? I need to watch the Oprah you tube and see what I can take from it. Murphy. Glad you were able to get some steps yesterday, hope Callie had a better night. Did you get the rain? Hi Liz Better get my move on and get some AP before work, sure I won't be feeling it after dinner tonight. Going to try to attach the link to DS blog on here. See if you can open it. truthfromtater.com/

Affirmation: I am happy in my own skin and my circumstances!
Good morning all! It's bitter cold here this morning. We had a lot of rain yesterday afternoon and evening but just cold today. I've already been out to the post office and the bank. I also picked up a small order at Walmart to get stocked up on stuff for the grocery bags for the motel ministry. Among other things, I picked up 10 boxes of saltines! They are going to think I'm hoarding crackers instead of toilet paper! LOL
Amy - hope it warms up enough for you to get out and walk.
Carole - sending you hugs today.
Liz - how many weeks left for DD?
Cindy - I hope you didn't lose power and you are staying warm. Do you have an alternate heat source? I probably should get a kerosene or propane heater to have for emergencies.
Jan - glad you got your blood work done.
Hi GG and Cathy!
I think I'll put a pot of soup on to simmer. I don't have to go back out until this afternoon when we have a HOA board meeting. Hope everyone had a great day! Murphy

Ugh! Lost my post! Quick recap. I enjoyed my self care day and stayed AF and even got a blue dot. Today I went to the dr. Thyroid levels are fine. He did give me a medicine that will help me to relax and sleep at night. He really listened to me and agrees that my Fitbit shouldn’t look like it does. He said if I am waking up that much no wonder I’m miserable. He also wants to do an oxygen test at night with the CPap. He said I might need some kind of dental device instead that would help keep my throat open or something? I’ll do anything! I just want to get a good nights sleep!
Personals back tomorrow since I already typed them once!

Hi Everyone!
Who knew cold weather could make one so tired? We have power and supplies. DS didn't have to go to work because there is no power in that area of town. We'll see in the AM. I did get out to feed the birds. We have either yellow breasted chats or warblers joining in the feeding ....perhaps they are the same. The bunny has been hanging about and I put a small shelter together for "it". Don't have a clue where it lives but seems to like sunflower seeds. It is bitter outside and the snow has started for the evening!
Amy, hope you are feeling better!
Carole, I too, like the image of Angel running about, after bunnies, without pain. Hugs!
Murphy, we haven't lost power though water needs to be boiled. We are on a different grid from most neighborhoods thanks to being "unincorporated" from the town. We do have a fireplace but the room where it is has high ceilings...goes up to the second floor...open floor plan. I feel fortunate. Umm, research second heat sources before you buy. Several fires have occurred here due to people using propane and kerosene heaters. Hope your HOA meeting went well!
Jan, glad you got your blood work done. I did mine last week and the lab missed the TB test...have to have one every year due to the RA meds.
Cathy, glad you were able to get to the bank and all other supplies can be delivered.
GG, how are your aches doing? Hope you are getting rest!
Liz, how is your weather? Stay safe and warm!
Sitting too much, using staying warm as an excuse. Didn't sleep well last night listening to all the sounds of the outside world.
Hugs to all, Cindy

My word for 2021: FOCUS My Visual/Mantra/whatever: Believe -> See AFFIRMATION: I love feeling fit and strong. LOVING MYSELF TODAY BY: ✔️ Tracking: Tracked - over points Moving: ✔️ Sleep: ✔️ GHGs Fruit ❇️ Vegetables ❇️ Whole-grains Dairy products-calcium. ❇️ Healthy oils ❇️ Protein (lean)❇️ Limit added sugar and alcohol. Liquids-hydration❇️ Multiple vitamin-mineral supplements❇️ Labor of Loving yourself first! February 14 - April 4 February 14 start weight: 172.4 February 21: February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in: <170.4> Flickered on 169...but went back up...will happen soon!
Wet wild and windy. Nippy inside and outside. Cat wants in but hubby says no. Poor cat! Nothing new to share...hope you all are keeping warm!
AMY: I just googled and it said there was a study that indicated that " Patients with type O and rhesus negative (Rh-) blood groups may have a lower risk of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection and severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) illness, according to a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. It doesn't say they are immune, though. I have 0+ blood as does my brother and my Sister-in-law has O- Brother and his wife both had the vaccination so am guessing your hairdresser is NOT immune. Be careful...hope SHE is careful!
JAN: I know how that is when the wine calls Here's to finding out how a bit of indulgence and higher points week plays out on the scale.
MURPHY: We might have leftover soup today...it sounds comforting on this blustery day.
GG: I hate it when posts disappear!
CINDY: Does the bunny go into the shelter?
