Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE February 14 through April 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what not to care about. Your health, your familyâs health, doing what works for your corner of the world. Let go of the things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my âflawsâ have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when Iâm alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

It never did get out of the 20's yesterday, so no outside walk. It's still in the low 20's, but the sun is shining and it's supposed to get close to 50 by the afternoon. Stayed in my jammies until 4pm when I did the walking video. When I do laps in the basement, Annie plays a weird game of tag where she chases me, but if I try to pet her she runs away. Not sure I understand the rules, but she seems to enjoy it. I did get quite a bit done on the work project and made a WW rice and broccoli casserole to which I added leftover grilled chicken for dinner. It was yummy, good thing, as there is still lots leftover.
Hope all are doing well. The snow pictures from around the country are crazy!
Jan- Sorry about the detour and missing your mom. I still get the random urge to call my mom about something. Thanks for posting the link to DS's blog. I took a quick peek- looks very professional!
Murphy- WTG getting your errands done despite the cold. LOL over hoarding crackers.
GG- Glad you enjoyed your self care day and saw the doctor. Hopefully a solution to better sleep can be found.
Cindy- Yay for keeping your power. I have a high school friend who winters in Texas that has been without power and heat for days. WTG taking care of the birds and bunny. Hope you slept better.
Cathy- Yay for seeing 169, however briefly. Sorry poor kitty has to stay outside in the wet, wild, and nippy.

"I am happiest when I take care of myself first" Good morning. Glad to be over my long day this week and looking forward to a whole weekend. Days are going quickly and glad we are seeing some warm up in the weather. I need to get gas and was trying to squeak it out until a warmer afternoon to stand out at the pump. Looks like that will be today . Tomorrow afternoon looks like it will need to be a tidy up day, counter is looking full of papers, need to do laundry, maybe finish my puzzle and then get that cleared off the dining room table. Not much other news here, hope you all are well. Stay warm, Jan Cathy. BooHoo for the kitty, sure she's used to it by now. Does she have a box or somewhere to get in outside when it's wet and cold? I think my DH is O-, good to know it might help a bit with COvid. but going to keep avoiding it if possible!! CIndy. Did you sleep any better? Wonder what is really messing up your system. Hope the Dr can find some good answer for you. Was it you DS on quarantine? Is he ok? Murphy. I'm sure they have you on store surveillance hording all those crackers!! Hope the soup warmed you up and happy that you are feeling so happy Amy. DS said it's been in the 20's in NOLA too, crazy. Hope you can get out to walk today. Glad Annie is getting some exercise with you and having fun in her kingdom. The casserole sounds yummy! I guess we will always think to turn to our mom's for advice or just a chat, I usually talk to her in the car . Glad the work project is coming together. DS sent 6 more blogs for DH to read over today!! Yikes, he said he thought through a bunch last night while working the COvid floor overnight. have a great day all!!

Hi friends! I went to kickboxing this am then took Dad to the dr. He got his staples out, he feels better already. Two more nights there. I wish tonight was but oh well. I do go out in the afternoons, today I went home. I felt better seeing Alexis, she seemed ok. I stopped at the pizza place, 1/2 price on Wednesdays, dad should be happy. I work in the am tomorrow, will workout then take dad to therapy. Iâll probably just stay there the rest of the day. Amy, your game with Annie had me smiling!
Murphy, who knew there was a saltine shortage?!! Howâs Callie?
Gg, Iâve never heard of a dental thing to keep your throat open, huh.
Jan, hugs to you. My mom has been gone almost 9 years and I still want to call her. I need to check out DS blog again!
Cathy, hope it warmed up a bit.
Cindy, stay warm!

Hi All!
We are having rolling black outs (no power) but otherwise all is fine, just have to stay home because we can't get out of the driveway. Doesn't appear that anyone has tried to drive in the 'hood.
Hugs to all, Cindy

February 14 - April 4 February 14 start weight: 172.4 February 21: February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in: <170.4> again this morning
It is another gray day. May be more rain and expected to be the same tomorrow, too. Leftovers for lunch today and perhaps will roast the cauliflower and broccoli for dinner.
AMY: Bella the calico cat was in her plastic shelter made by me a few years ago. It is a storage box I cut holes into and then put masking tape around the edges so they would not be rough. She has not been in it as much but yesterday and today must have wanted the extra protection. I wonder what Annie's game is? One of our cats would wait on the path kind of hiding then leap out as if to say "boo".
JAN: Bella does have a few places to shelter...she is in the one mentioned in comment to Amy. I am glad your long day is done for this week and hope you didn't get too cold if you did put gas in your car.
CAROL: I am sure your father appreciated the pizza AND having you stay with him. It is in the low fifties inside the house. In the evening I sit on the couch and turn a space heater on.
GG: Good to see your post. Happy for your DSIL's negative test.
CINDY: Hope you are able to stay warm with the rolling blackouts...and have enough food and water!
