What are some rules you have for your eating and drinking? Are they helpful or unhelpful?

My biggest rule is to not have sweets in the house and it is a helpful rule. It has saved me lately when I have urges to eat just to be eating in the afternoon. My other rule is to only eat half when I go out to eat or have take-out. This is also a good rule that works because I split the food over multiple days.

Rules for eating or drinking: * No sugar food in the house. * Drink only water, 6 cups a day, no pop, coffee etc. * Eat three meals a day plus a snack three times a day. * Strive to eat all servings in the food groups. Fill my plate with 1/4 meat or protein, 1/4 with starch and 1/2 with vegetables! * Don't eat after night meal, only small bedtime snack. I realize I have a lot of rules after listing them, missed some as well.

Rules...hmm...
hmmm........
I don't know that I have RULES but guidelines?
* the ghg's are a guideline so hydration, veg-fruit, portion control, etc * weigh/measure foods that have points * listen to my body regarding what I eat and satiation * eat some foods OUT rather than having them as temptations at home
The pandemic has really thrown me for a loop...we don't buy anything tempting...or not often. We cook from scratch everything from dry beans and grains to...well...we could make our own bread but have not resorted to that yet. Anyway...
I don't think I have RULES but perhaps internal guidelines?

mac, Hey, if your rules work more power to you. cathygeha, Guidelines is a good word to use, less harsh than rules.

bbbearsmomSince its just me it's much easier to abide by my rules, I am 4 1/2 pounds from goal and plan to be there soon, once at goal then I can eat a little more food. I'm doing this for me! What do you think?🤗

Drinking alcohol, only once a week. If my digestion is stellar I might have one more glass a week.
Eating - daily tracking, planning, same lunch and breakfast daily, strength & flexbility exercises daily, posting and reading everyone's posts, listing credits daily.
I try to meditate 6 days a week, and hit the sack by 9:00 PM.

mac, 4 1/2 pounds from goal is Amazing. Your rules are serving you well. Same for bbbearsmom, cathygeha, lani,! I’ve signed up for an 8 week, 3 ride a week spin challenge, so my exercise rule is to complete the challenge. I need to get back best practices. Eating and Drinking was a bit of a free for all this past week due to no power. Am back to planning and tracking today. One thing I’d like to make into a firm rule is 1 night of alcohol a week, preferably on the weekend. Did dry January, Feb. deteriorated a bit, but firm rule back in place. no surprise, I’m finding it easier to be all in Beck thinking than sometimes in. YES?

lizlor, I find I do better when I follow Beck, and my thinking cooperates.

Friday was the long journey to get shot #1 so I forgot to post.
Most of my rules stem from childhood, some from WW, Beck, and experiences.
No standing while eating No seconds : "there's always tomorrow" "Don't put food in your mouth when you have food in your mouth": Judy No "repeat unplanned indulgences" - otherwise I could be starting a new habit that might need to be broken No grazing - For me, meals need to have a beginning a middle and an end.

No "repeat unplanned indulgences" - otherwise I could be starting a new habit that might need to be broken What a good point. I should add this is what has happened to me since time change, now I have two habits to break.
