Good morning friends. Slept well woke up refreshed but saw midnight Oh well...two out of three ain't bad as meatloaf sang
Also woke up to about 3" of snow and it's still coming down. Looks like the fluffy variety and if so, I hope it remains that way. Perhaps we will get the 3-7" as predicted. Time will tell.
Yeah to not opening GS cookies. Whenever I GS selling cookies I buy a box and ask them to pay it forward. I have absolutely NO CONTROL over those...especially the ones with coconut in them LOL.
Waving and will CBL

Ann,
Same situation here for the snow. Lightly falling like a snow globe so very pretty! Not much accumulating at all though it is expected to keep up. The roads are just wet. This is the kind of snowstorm I love. :-)
Oh, Ann, I hear you on the Samoa G.S. cookies. Those are impossible to resist. I have my stash in the basement and intend to gift most of them. I haven't even been tempted to open the delivery box yet. DH will dive into them and eat a bunch before he has even known what he's eaten.
Our home project is now on track for the foundation to be poured next week depending on weather. We are not in a rush - and even if we aren't in the house until late summer, it is okay with me. We are both enjoying staying home and not running back and forth per usual when the house was there.
We both got hooked on Sinner - on Netflix. It is a dark mystery, but I like those.
Have a good day all. I'll check in soon. The conference is over and the last speaker of the day was just terrific. All in all, it was good hearing college leaders from all over the U.S. from big and small schools alike.
BBL!

Judy I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of those lethal cookies!!!!! Do you remember Kresgee's Downtown Worcester sold these HUGE cookies called Yes Yes and they were the twin to Samoa cookies? Those were my downfall. I can remember going there as a kid and getting one. What memories.......Worcester DID have a wonderful downtown area with great places to shop..... Happy you are enjoying Netflix. Well coffee time so I'll BBL

Good Morning, WW Friends ~
TGIF!! I did not sleep well at all, woke up a lot and dreamed a lot. I will hope for a better result tonight. Nonetheless, I woke at the usual 7 a.m. and got up to enjoy my coffee (after emptying the dishwasher and starting my breakfast. I had FF Greek yogurt & blackberries w/F1 and enjoyed it very much.
Last night's supper was the leftover spaghetti & meatballs and I suspect that had something to do with my not sleeping well. I will be more cautious about what I eat today and give my tummy time to rest.
I just realized I never did post yesterday - but I really didn't have anything to say anyway and I had another 'tired' day. I was reading a book from Prime Reading and it was the first one that I've gotten that I can honestly say I didn't like. It was full of witches and werewolves and vampires (oh my!) which usually would be right up my alley but this one was just too much! When I read the description it mentioned the witches and curses and that would have been okay, but she tried to cram too much supernatural into one book. I was determined to finish it nonetheless and I did by suppertime. Today I will start a new book.
Ann ~ I'm going to take a page from your playbook and clean out my Library on my Kindle today. I noticed last evening (when I was perusing for a new book) that I have an awful lot of books marked "Read" so they better be gone! Then it will be easier to find something new. Glad you got your nails done, and that you enjoyed the visit. I think going back to school has been the best thing for me, as I see and talk to lots of like-minded people throughout my half-day there.
Judy ~ I am so sorry that you're having such a difficult time getting a vaccine appointment. That seems to be the rule around here as well. I’m glad you got to get your babies groomed. I was picturing the red & pink bandana and the pink bows and it certainly put a smile on my face! Congrats on avoiding the GS cookies! I am delighted that we no longer encounter any sellers in our area (perhaps due to COVID?) Glad you enjoyed your conference. I fully understand about not missing the travel back and forth to the Cape. DH and I were just having a discussion about that the other night. Much as we enjoyed our involvement in Retrouvaille (all 25 years of it) we did spend a great deal of time traveling, as everywhere we went to present was an average of an hour away. So by the time we drove there, did a 4-hour talk, then drove home it was like a whole day (and of course the group always went out to eat afterward (making it an 8-hour trip). It’s funny now that we’re staying in the house more, how much we enjoy it! We were wondering how much will change for us when things start opening up again??
I have had coffee and breakfast, and made the bed. The sun is shining, even though it is only 20 dg (with a RF of 10) and I am thinking I'll bundle up and take a walk today. The days I work I get a lot of steps in, but that was only 2 out of 4 this week and I think I'd benefit from a little bit more. We don't have any more snow predicted today and the sunshine is glorious!!
I have 1 serving of veggie/bean soup for my lunch today and 2 servings of butternut squash soup that we may have with supper tonight. Then I will put a new batch of veggie/bean soup in the crock pot tomorrow. I'm still deciding what to have for supper tonight but I'm leaning toward a tuna/macaroni casserole. DH sliced up the extra box of strawberries so we will be having Strawberry Waffles in the near future (like maybe tomorrow night).
For now I will go start bundling up and check back in later.
BBL. Make a great day!!

Hi again,
I enjoyed catching up with you, Sue, and reading Ann's note about Worcester. Ann, I left Worcester at age 7 so missed some good years of downtown but I have been regaled with stories all my life about the wonderful downtown of the 1940s-60s. My Nana lived on Richmond Avenue and she took the bus every single day downtown after her housework - lol - and shopped at Richard Healy's, Marcus's and always had an ice cream at Easton's before going to my Grampa's office to ride home with him. She always bought a hat or some small thing! My mother also loved Denholm's and all the nice shops. I remember taking tap lessons from Honey Fellicetti - sp? Do you remember her name? I remember I was in a recital at Memorial Hall and I was terrified to go on that big stage. I was about 4 years old but I remember the trauma. lol I sure wish downtown was like that now, but I do see such great improvements these days, too. It's coming around again.
Sue, I often have thought about your generous commitment to Retrouvaille all those years. That was very time consuming and so good of you and your DH to do so much to help couples with their marriages. My brother in FL is a Guardian Ad Litem for the FL court system and has been for 20 years. It has been a huge commitment as he is all over the state at times and working with the same kids for many years. He received an award as being the outstanding volunteer for Ad Litem in the state. Some of those kids have no one advocating for them. It has been a very big commitment and he took it seriously and to heart. He said that he needed to do something really meaningful and he had been a bank president for many years. I'm proud of him.
Still snowing very lightly here. Well, our COVID state system crashed completely yesterday; however, get this...a young webmaster/internet type college student set up her own website showing sites that were not part of the state roll out and many people said they used it and had great success. It was much better than the state's contractor. They used a platform that many other states are using but did not anticipate over 1 million people trying to get on at once. Oh well, in time we will all get our shots.
Off to do a bit more work. Lunch was a cup of Progresso soup and a salad with DH. Splitting the soup helps! Not as good as homemade but it'll do in a pinch and I like using up some of this stuff I stockpiled for the pandemic! I am going to do another Leslie Sansone in a bit.

Just finished my third day in a row of my Leslie Sansone walking. It does feel so good to move. I am way behind you folks but catching up with activity! It only takes 20-30 minutes. Wish I had started sooner but no regrets. Just moving forward.

Hi girls. While Carl was out in snow blow heaven I took full advantage put on the 'domestic cap' and cleaned house! Now it's all one and done and also did 2 loads of laundry. The rest of the day is MINE. I was thrilled that I had just finished and had the coffeemaker loaded when Carl came home. I pressed on and we enjoyed a nice cup of coffee together as we sat and watched it snow. Started out light and fluffy but as it started to melt, it became heavy. It's still snowing now but not sticking to the road...yet...anyway. Oh well, what will be will be. I gave Carl his 'cocktail' and he is not in pain. That's a BIG plus. Sue I am so sorry you didn't sleep well. Hopefully you can catch a nap today. I agree so much that talking to 'like minded people' really makes for a wonderful day. I cherish those folks that I can simply chat with and not have to defend myself or watch what I am saying. It's a rare gift that is top on my list! Sue good for you and you determination to finish reading the book. I sometimes do that as well...especially if I have far too much 'invested in it'. I just want to git R done and move onto something else! Happy cleaning out your kindle LOL. I do mine periodically so that I don't have a bunch of nothings to plow through. I also have long conversations with myself as to 'what were you thinking Ann when you downloaded this?' LOL..... LOL Judy you brought back more fond memories. I knew a Donna Funiccelli that lived on our street. She was a year or two older than me, but didn't teach dance. I pray you are right in Worcester coming around again. They surely have made a lot of changes. I bet if I went back, I'd not recognize things as I picture them in my head LOL. Yes so much drama attached to the vaccination. I will get it when it becomes available and surely not going to stress about it. Seems like whenever I read something and click on it the site spins and spins and nope, I have little patience with that sort of thing. Some people are calling their PCP's to ask for help in getting the shot. I choose to not go that route. When our turn becomes available, we shall go. There is no time like the present to start a walking routine, Judy. Kudos for going the Leslie Sansone route. She was one of my favorites Well....you guys surely have healthy meals planned. Not so for me LOL...seeing as this is bday weekend (for Carl) we shall have pizza tonight and he is still on the fence about getting take out from New England Seafood Restaurant here in town. I have a lasagna in the freezer should he change his mind again LOL. His bday is tomorrow and he'll be 71 so sky is the limit as to what he wants to eat. Waving to Pam...hope all is well with you and I shall try to pop in later. My second wind is s l o w l y returning

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
I got out for a half hour walk this morning. The sun is gone now, but I went early. I was bundled enough that I actually got 'too warm' on the way home. It really did perk me up though!! I plan to do it every day for a while.
Judy ~ I have a stack of Leslie Sansone DVD's sitting here and a TV with DVD player that I keep just for exercising and hardly ever use it. I think back in the day I was more likely to use it in the Summer when it was just too hot to walk. But since I started walking this year, I have discovered I missed it! Thanks for sharing the story about your brother! I agree that volunteerism has the best rewards!! DH mentioned that he is missing Retrouvaille, but more our group than the hustle 'n bustle. I don't want to go back to presenting, even if that is an option. I know they're doing most on Zoom right now. But when they do start having some face-to-face meetings, I would go just to help satisfy his need, and to see some well-loved familiar faces. But we'll see when that time comes?
I have been busy doing little things around here today and while doing laundry, discovered that my washer is not spinning. It did empty, but left sopping wet clothes. DH recently fixed it when it just stopped doing everything mid-cycle. We discovered there is a contact that needs to be actually pushed on when the load starts. Lately I've noticed a rattling sound when it washes/rinses and I had wondered if something was perhaps loose on the tub .... and today it looks like that may be what's wrong. I have had that before (on a different washer) and it was a pretty simple fix, as I recall (but then I wasn't doing the actual work). Fortunately everything is washed for now and we have some time. I usually let those aggravating little things bother me, but I am determined not to do that today. If I have to buy a washer, so be it. I only dread having to move the old one and bring in a newer one (but then I won't be doing the work then either) LOL
I was reading FB today and there was a big discussion in the "Waterford Everything" site about fish 'n chips and who has the best. It got me thinking, and I called DH and asked him if he would be interested in going out tonight. We haven't been out in forever, and we did think we could loosen up a tiny bit 2 weeks after our vaccinations were done (and that would be today) while still practicing mask wearing and social distancing, etc.
Since I've been so busy, I haven't had time to get back to the Kindle, but it's on my "to-do" list for this weekend.

Love fish n chips Sue. Enjoy if you go. Kudos to your walk. It's still snowing here so I shall sit this walk out lol. Still not sticking to road but looks messy. Not to mention I'm tired from cleaning house.

Hello friends! I am alive an well and survived the Big Chill. We got up to a toasty 39 today, but with a stiff wind that still made it feel cold. We still have patches of ice in the shady spots, which unfortunately includes the area out our back door and in front of the carport. I walk very carefully in those areas. Today Debbie and I walked for the first time since last Saturday. It was good to move and to catch up on each other's news. I was really in a funk Wednesday. After being stuck indoors since Sunday morning and pretty much just sitting around stuffing my face, I was not a fun person to be around. I don't know how DH has managed to stay in a good mood after 7 months of sitting indoors. Anyway, as things got above freezing yesterday, when Abby called to beg to come and play, I jumped at the chance. I picked her up and we played games all afternoon. She was like a breath of fresh air and sunshine, even though the day was cold and cloudy. Today, I feel much better and still posted a .2 loss after all my indulgences. I also ate better today with fruit & yogurt, shrimp salad and fried shrimp, baked potato and salad for dinner. I still have enough leftovers for a lunch. When I changed DH's bandaids this evening, the amputation area is FINALLY healed. We sent pics to the HH nurse who says she will discharge him. He should get his shoe inserts in another week. Not much else to report. It's been a boring week. I don't know how y'all make it through a whole winter of snow and ice! I was so sad to see all the Japanese magnolias on our street that were in full bloom and beautiful last week are now covered with dead brown blossoms. Oh well, spring is just a few weeks away. We seldom get a frost after mid-March. I have done some reading. I finished Hungry for Life, a story of anorexia which I found a little hard to believe. Nearly everyone in the author's life was unspeakably cruel to her, other than her immediate family. Just seemed a little far-fetched, but it did offer insight into how the warped thinking pattern develops. I had a good friend & co-worker who developed this syndrome after a miscarriage and it was so hard to watch and understand. The last part of the book was a lot of good information on eating disorders. I can't say I enjoyed the book, but it was nice that she overcame it at the end and became a counselor. I am enjoying my audiobook of The Friendship List by Susan Mallery. It's about two middle-aged women determined to get out of the rut their lives have become. I am also still working on the first book of Alafair Burke's Ellie Hatcher book series. DH has found and ordered books 1,3 and 4 for me, since I liked book 2. There is also a 5th one he's still looking for on the used book sites. Sue - I recently had to get a new washer and with the low-water versions it takes FOREVER to wash a load of clothes. We may be saving water, but we're using a lot more electricity with these new appliances. My dishwasher is the same thing. Hopefully, your handy DH will be able to fix it. Ann - I'm looking forward to the time DH can get outside to do his man thing and I can clean my house without him under foot. Judy - I cannot buy Samoas or I will eat the whole box in a sitting. I truly did that my last year at work. I had a box in my desk drawer and ate one and then another and then couldn't believe I ate the whole box. I'll keep fingers crossed that you can get the slab poured next week at the Cape. Going to get jammified and read a bit. Night all!
