Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE February 14 through April 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what not to care about. Your health, your familyâs health, doing what works for your corner of the world. Let go of the things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my âflawsâ have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when Iâm alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

Murphy- So nice of you to take people to their appointments. Hope you had fun in your closet.
GG- Glad you are sleeping better. Hope all goes well with the dermatologist and you don't eat him.

"I am happiest when I take care of myself first" Good Morning. Lightly snowing here this morning, shouldn't be a problem getting to work, just hope it doesn't last all day. But I got to the store yesterday, bought what I needed so can come home this afternoon and just enjoy my next days off. Bought some daffodils to brighten up the kitchen and feels nice and spring like in there. Went through my yarn patterns a bit last evening, just not finding something that inspires me, may just cast on another sock I need to finish and do that first. Also want to work on my cabin scrapbook this weekend so I can leave that at the cabin next summer. Coming down to the last week of Feb. time is flying by. Writing some new goals for the next month and trying to be realistic and not get frustrated. Figure I've been at this for this long, just keep moving forward. Feels good to purge the old and have an organized space......not that I would know how that feels . ha ha Cindy. Fingers crossed things are improving in Texas!! Guess the border wall didn't keep Ted from crossing the border! OOPs, bad humor. Stay warm, glad DS is there, can you drive yet? Cathy. Fingers crossed you see some sun again soon. Awesome number that keeps coming up on the scale. It will stick soon and you'll be posting a new decade!! Glad you have books and internet to keep you busy. Amy. Thanks for the tetrazzini recipe, I think I remember that from the olden days. Glad you could get in your steps even with the grey weather. I'm looking forward to being able to walk outside again.. I almost went yesterday but the wind was still really cold even tho the sun makes it seem nicer than it is. Just keep dancing the the house I guess. Only one person out yesterday and it didn't feel so crazy. I get feeling a bit burnt out on stitching for now, time to try something different for awhile and then come back to it. Maybe painting some Easter Egg rocks or Rainbow shells for St pat. Hope your boy is coming over for the evening and you can play some games. Enjoy your weekend Hi all. Happy Fri-Yay!!

Hi girls. I did not eat my dermatologist, but she was very nice. There were just 2 spots that she took some scrapings from. Everything else was fine. When I got home there was a jury notice waiting for me! Ugh! Hereâs hoping I get nixed by the defense since I am related to law enforcement! I do believe the meds are helping! I donât feel that dead dog tired feeling!
Amy: Itâs dreary here today too. DH put up a suet feeder for the birds that I can see from the couch. I am enjoying seeing the birds find it!
Jan: I LOVE daffodils! I am just over 4000 steps and hurt! When do you start therapy?
Cathy: I think we all want spring/sunshine!
Cindy: Did you say you never lost electricity? Itâs crazy down there!
Murphy: Did your friend claim anything?
I just had 5 deer come to the front window and were eating our bushes! One was a buck that only had one side of his antlers left! Life in the country!

Hi everyone!
I spent all day yesterday on the state vaccine site to get an appointment for the covid vaccine to no avail. The site crashed first thing in the morning. It was the first day that 65+ were eligible. I guess given the fact that there were only 70,000 slots available to a million people in that bracket, it was inevitable. This morning I was pleased to find an email from the superintendent of schools offering staff who were 65+ and residents of the city an appointment for the vaccine. So thankfully I have an appointment this Monday, yay!
I am still not in the mindset of BOT, and hoping it will kick in soon.
Just wanted to say hello and hoping all is well.
Cindy I am watching the news and see the devastation in Texas, and praying all is well with you and yours. Hugs and stay safe and warm.

Hello friends! Iâm home! So nice to be here! I worked this morning. Weâre back to wearing masks the whole time while youâre in the building. The mayor of our town was kind of being a jerk about it. Itâs amazing what bothers people and how they like to complain. Dads doing good. My DB went over for dinner and will go back tomorrow to help Dad to take a shower. Iâll just take dinner a couple times and take him to therapy Thursday and Friday. Iâm going skiing Tuesday! Iâve been saying I want to do it for years, finally going to do it! I used to ski when I was younger.
Amy, itâs awesome how you walk everyday. I admire that.
Jan, I went snowshoeing the other day at my dads. He lives on a little man made lake near the forest preserve. I actually saw 2 deer. One kept walking towards me, looking at me like what are you doing?! West Virginia was canceled đ˘ theyâre going to Missouri Monday and Tuesday but no fans are allowed. There is a link we can go to to watch. I hope it works. Iâll be watching while working, hope my boss doesnât mind!
Liz, good for you getting a date for a shot! Thatâs on my list for Monday, try to get my dad in.
Cindy, I hope all is good for you. It looks awful there.
Cathy, gg, Murphy. Hi!!

My word for 2021: FOCUS My Visual/Mantra/whatever: Believe -> See AFFIRMATION: I believe in myself. LOVING MYSELF TODAY BY: âď¸ Tracking: Moving: 40 minutes yesterday âď¸ Sleep: 8 hours âď¸ GHGs Fruit âď¸ Vegetables âď¸ Whole-grains âď¸ Dairy products-calcium. âď¸ Healthy oils âď¸ Protein (lean)âď¸ Limit added sugar and alcohol. âď¸ Liquids-hydrationâď¸ Multiple vitamin-mineral supplementsâď¸ Labor of Loving yourself first! February 14 - April 4 February 14 start weight: 172.4 February 21: February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in: <169.8>
The sun was out for a little while...hope it returns so there will be hot water for a shower later today. It is still cold inside and not warm outside but with enough layers on we manage. I am waiting till there is hot water to do dishes BUT might heat water with the electric tea kettle if the sun disappears again.
AMY: The recipe you shared...small portion if it serves six. Is it more of a side than a main course? Glad you enjoyed your stitching!
JAN: I hope you find a new goal that grabs you and will be just the focus you are looking for as spring arrives. It will be nice for people to be able to look at the scrapbook when at the cabin.
GG: I have never been called for jury duty BUT have never been in the USA long enough to have been called, I guess...or not at the right age, anyway. Glad the medicine is helping. I wonder how hard it is for the deer to keep its head steady with one antler gone?
LIZ: Hooray for having an appointment to get the first covid-19 vaccination injection!
CAROL: I remember going skiing as an adult and it was NOT pretty. We took our children up to the slopes and I thought I would help them...hah! I was not skinny and not young and falling was not fun. Hope you enjoy your day skiing
