Becky, I hope you are successful getting on the roads today and getting the wholesome food you require.
Linda, how are the head and knees?
Karen, TN is doing better than OH on cases per diem. We have been celebrating under 2000 per day. I read that Dolly doesn’t want a statue at the capital, at least not until she’s gone.
Kathy, do I remember correctly that nephew got an internship? I thought of it as I was watching NASA a d the Perseverance touchdown on Mars.
Liz, Denise, I hope all is well at the hospitals.
The birds are eating us out of house and home. I filled the feeders Wednesday afternoon and am waiting for the morning rush to end and I will need to fill again. That reminds me. Have you been following the sea turtle rescue efforts in the Gulf? The poor things are like the Texans, stunned by the cold. They are on the endangered list, so the big hearted Texans who have their own problems are rescuing them and taking them to warehouses.
I got on treadmill today for ten minutes with minimal discomfort in my right heel. I moved to the bike after that for another 10 minutes and then some chair yoga. It was more leg work today which is much easier for me. We just used the chair for balance.
Have a good Friday. It is fishy Friday for is since it’s Lent.

Thanks for the start, Chele. Dolly already has a statue in front of the Sevier County Courthouse that has been there for years. Given her response to having one at the state capitol, I wonder how she feels about that one. The only reason our state is doing so much better per diem than yours is that we only have about half as many people. We're having the same situation with the birds right now. I guess they are extra hungry with all the courtship going on. They have a big sea turtle rescue on South Padre Island near where we used to vacation when we were Texas residents and that's where all the turtles are ending up. You think they will just dive deeper to get to warmer water, but it's so cold there that they may not be able to go deep enough. The convention center has opened their doors for the sea turtles and a bunch of them are staying indoors there. Last I heard about 5000 had been rescued. They said most of the ones being rescued are larger, so I wonder how many smaller ones won't have a chance to survive. I remember Fridays during Lent, as DM was raised Catholic and we continued to adhere even after she joined the Presbyterian church. There is a really good fish market in the city and DF usually stopped for fish sandwiches on his way home from work. Even after I moved away, I still went to the fish market. It was pollock on white bread, but the coating was unusual and I think they were flash-fried so not greasy. This time of year there will be a line around the block starting around 10 on Fridays. Are you still getting snow?
Becky, I know junk food is convenient for a situation like the one you're in, but it's surprising how many people eat that way most of the time. That plus your body trying to keep itself warm can be very tiring. And I'll bet you haven't been sleeping particularly well either. It's such an uncomfortable situation, even when you're in your own home. The media was reporting that Cruz originally wasn't scheduled to fly back until Sunday morning. If that is accurate (I actually heard it from several sources), then the only reason he came back yesterday was that people found out. It is strange that Adler didn't have the same protests. But then you know Austin is a little different and the pandemic is an ongoing situation and not an emergency situation. I'm sorry Cruz's daughter was uncomfortable without heat and water, but so is everyone else in your state right now. She needs to learn how to deal with real life.
Are you heading for a warm day today, Kathy? How goes the workouts? I finally put a 7-day schedule on paper. It's not as detailed as what I used to do for triathlon because I don't have distance and time goals. But it's set and I'll change when I can get into the lake again. I do pretty well when I stay structured. I usually blow off exercise on the weekends, but that will change starting tomorrow. It would make it a lot easier if Arya would come down to the workout room with me.
Linda, did the non-migraine headache fade away? How is your weather, or have you not mentioned anything because of what some of the rest of us have been experiencing? Baseball spring training has started there, so have you seen an increase in traffic with players and fans? I think I heard they were limiting the spring training games to 10% capacity, so there wouldn't be as many fans as usual, but extra people nonetheless. I wonder how many of them will have been vaccinated before they arrive.
How did the neuro appointment go, Liz? Do you have more snow today? Are you seeing more police presence on your commute? Anything different planned for the weekend?
Denise, do you have to work this weekend? How much snow do you still have?
Arya got us up a little early for some reason, and Dale wants to wax floors tomorrow, so I had to do laundry today so we wouldn't have the problem with the dryer. I changed the bed and had a load of our around the house clothes needing done and both are cleaned and dried. Vacumming is also done. This afternoon I need to shred turnips to ferment as saueruben and will juice some Valencia oranges that have been sitting in the fridge for a while. We wore out our nice old timey manual juicer press, so I'll have to use the little plastic one, which is not even close to as efficient. We had a pretty good snow squall come through this morning, but it moved out and we are supposed to have sunshine coming in this afternoon. I heard on the a.m. news that they will move to the next vaccine phase on Monday, so hopefully I will be able to get an appointment soon.

Fingers crossed for the vaccine, Karen. Wow, a written exercise schedule! You are disciplined. We had some blood oranges that I juiced. Boy, were they good. We may get a wintry mix some time on Sunday but the temps are still frigid.
We saw a new to us bird on the ash tree and in the yard-a white breasted nuthatch. At first I thought it was a chickadee as it had the same coloring but it was bigger and going backwards down the tree trunk and it had a woodpecker like beak. Of, course I went online to look it up. Too late for the bird count, though.

Chele, yes, my nephew got the internship! It's the same one he had last year before they cancelled it. He's really looking forward to it. I was thinking of him during the Perseverance touchdown too and hope he gets to work on something like that someday. He is open to leaving Florida, so can go where the interesting work is. I hope the sea turtles make it. I remember seeing them a few times when we were out in the Atlantic in my dad's boat. They are enormous. Nice on spotting the white breasted nuthatch! The pond has been slow, but I did see some ibis walking around yesterday. Karen, I heard Dolly turned down the Medal of Freedom twice under Trump. She couldn't accept it due to her husband being ill and not wanting to travel during the pandemic. Biden has already reached out to her about it, so she may still get it. We used to have some wonderful seafood dinners during Lent when I was growing up. Now that I think of it, I guess every Friday was meatless back then. I remember the school cafeterias having fish sticks or fish sandwiches. They actually were one of the better cafeteria lunches which isn't saying a whole lot. It's been warm today, but should cool off a bit this weekend. We've been getting some showers, but I managed to get groceries delivered in between downpours. Only two minor substitutions and they seemed to have plenty of paper products. What is the next vaccine phase for you? FL isn't following the CDC phases, so nobody knows who they'll open it up to next. I did some shorter workouts this week, but intend to do some longer ones this weekend. Good for you on making a schedule. I think that would help. Becky, how are things going? I hope it's warmed up some and you've been able to get some food. You're so disciplined on what you eat. I'm sure it's a shock to your system not to have the foods you're used to. Hope you're feeling okay. It's great that neighbors helped each other out.
Waving to everyone. Have a good evening.

Quick and late check in. I am stressed and exhausted but we are doing well. Our church family came through with an over abundance of canned goods, tuna and oatmeal plus other things this morning after I asked for prayers on the ladies ministry FB page. I am beyond relieved and overjoyed at their generosity. One woman asked me not to tell anyone she contributed. She said consider it a gift from God. Wow just wow is all I have to say. There was frozen whole chicken that I knew Kenneth wouldn't eat and we had no way to cook it so we shared our good fortune with neighbors who already had helped us.
Karen Yes Ted Cruz had planned to stay the weekend and "work remotely from Cancun." Yea right. He has 2 daughters that were cold and with school being closed this week he wanted to be a good dad. My dad had no trouble telling me no when I was a child. OTOH Cruz has no power to make bills inside the state of TX as he is a US senator and not a state senator so he couldn't have helped in any way. He was in constant contact with the governor so said he who now thinks it was a bad idea to leave his state in a winter storm.
Linda I am impressed with AOC on wanting to help Texas. Lord knows we can't help ourselves. If the money goes to helping citizens I am all for it but if it is like the Biden declaration that goes all for infrastructure(which we do badly need reform and help with) people won't be so willing to see her. I do applaud her efforts. She should be commended for doing something a resident of Houston named Ted Cruz wouldn't do. I'm sure no child has ever been disappointed and told no on something.
Kathy Living in the country on an isolated country road makes you know and realize rather quickly who your true friends are. We could not have made it without the grace of God and without caring people living on our road. That's what being a Texan is supposed to be. People helping people. I want to be on his next flight to Mexico.
Karen We were more than uncomfortable when the power was out. It was in the low 40's in the house but get this. Ted's daughters had friends over the night the power went out. In what world during a pandemic is that even right? He said the power was out at the friends house and they were trying to provide a warm meal for them when their power went out.
I will try to check in again tomorrow. I'm exhausted.
