WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

I got busy yesterday morning and never managed to check in. We had a very nice anniversary dinner. I debated the shrimp scampi over risotto, but ended up getting a piece of salmon over a salad with blue cheese and dried cherries. Delicious and satisfying. We also had baked Brie with cherry preserves for an appetizer. Oh. So, so good. I was surprised with a delivery of a dozen long stem roses. Really, truly surprised. It’s been years. It was even better that he ordered from our new village flower/gift shop that I love and want to see thriving.
Kathy, wonderful job on your new cycle! What happened in Texas is just unbelievable and so sad. We are fortunate to not have many power issues at all, even with above ground lines. DFIL gave us a generator in the late 90’s but we seldom need to use it.
Nancy, you really got yourself back on track last week and it paid off! You’ve become very good at including foods that give you a lot of bang for your buck. Years ago there was a book out about food density vs. foods with a higher water content and satiety. I’ll have to think of the name and/or author.
Meg, you’re creating such great memories for your grandkids. Isn’t our technology today amazing?
Lori, doesn’t it feel good to get drawers and cabinets cleaned out? That was what I ended up doing yesterday instead of posting here. I went to our online banking for something, decided to pay the bills that had come in the mail, and one thing led to another and I was cleaning out a much needed area.
Louise, did you mark the loosened link on Marisol’s prong collar?

C57. D2. OP. Tracking. Exercise + yoga. 24 points yesterday due to SF FF pudding treat.
Jan - your dinner sounds amazing! So glad that DH stepped up for your anniversary!
Nancy - I'm hearing that people are getting good immunity with one shot - not 95% but anecdotally if they do get the virus, they have fewer symptoms. We'll see what happens, but it seems urgent to get as many people vaccinated as possible to stop the variants from taking hold. Then go back and do the second rounds of shots for all. We do not have enough scientific study to know all the answers yet.
Louise - your salad sounds wonderful!
Meg - hope you enjoyed a good nap and way to go with staying on track.
Lori - great job NOT going for the cereal. That exact scenario has tripped me up so many times!!
Hope everyone has a great day. I have to work all day today - behind on my work big time :-( Worked most of yesterday as well.
Kathy

Nancy, that’s the book! I’m guessing you read it too.
Kathy, I hope you get caught up today. Is your daughter home so you won’t have to think about dinner.
Louise, funny!

So last night I did take 12 good n plenties. They are unfortunately right beside the recliner on which I sleep. Janet had a good idea. At night, when I take out my built bite, I can move the good and plenties to the computer room and return them in the morning so they'll be there for DH. Yesterday gets revised to 25 points and 1345 calories. I was down a pound this morning, though. I'll probably pay for the overage tomorrow morning.
Jan - No I haven't read it. I just googled the subject. I've now downloaded samples for both of her books and will probably buy one or both. Sounds like a perfect subject for my stage of this game.
Kathy - Yep the evidence isn't all in. We will definitely take whatever they care to give us whenever.

Good Sunday afternoon. Day 11 here. Hoping for a good weigh-in tomorrow, but need to keep my expectations in check. I cleaned out my closet (the pants rack) and have several pairs to get rid of - just old or didn't fit right. Feels like spring cleaning, but no spring in sight.
Jan: Good on your DH for the roses! Sounds like a great celebration.
Kathy: Thanks for sharing a different view on COVID vaccinations. Makes a lot of sense.
All 6 GKs are walking over here (balmy day of 37 degrees!) to spend a few hours. THIS is why we moved here. Grateful!
Peace to all.

It was such a pretty day today, DH and I decided to take a nice drive. We actually stopped at a diner thinking if too many people we would eat in the car. We were pleasantly surprised to see it wasn’t too busy and they had the high back booths, so we decided to stay and eat. It was such a treat to sit and eat at a diner.....the simple pleasures..
Nancy, It did feel good to dodge a potential binge....Saturday morning, the first thing I tracked was a bowl of cereal to have as my treat that night, and boy did I enjoy it! I prefer to have my treats at the end of the day, this way, if they do give me that “I want more” feeling, I don’t have to fight the urges all day. That what seems to be working for me. The idea is to fit in the foods you go for during a binge so they are not a big deal. It was interesting to read you didn’t think the truffle was worth the points.....
Jan, what a Wonderful Anniversary!!! So sweet of DH regarding roses being delivered! The app sounded amazing, something I would also love.... It is nice to have things in their place. It especially feels good to have a decluttered desk.....My work space looks so much better...
Meg, Not feeling deprived, Love hearing that!!! One of Heather’s sayings “don’t give up anything your not willing to give up long term”!! Enjoy every minute with the DGKs!! Sounds like to move worked out for All!!
Louise, wondering if hershey kisses would work better during lent....it’s just all about finding what works best for you....
Kathy, Whoo Hoo on day 2 new cycle!! It is crazy regarding the electric situation in this area but it’s not like we have a choice....It’s very rare not to have some kind of generator.....

Meg - Haha - spring cleaning. From your mouth to God's ears <g>. Enjoy the kiddies. They have an odd way of growing up.
Lori - I also include treats into my day's plan. I notice lately that I haven't been having that 3 PM snack and don't seem to miss it. I guess the late night built bite is taking the place of it.
