Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad you enjoy training and hopefully will work well with these two trainees. One of my father's earliest jobs at the Board of Education was training bus drivers I hope that your local longarmer will contact you so you can get your quilt done. I wish I could find a reliable local person. I'd send a bunch of quilts to them if I found someone. Maybe once this virus is better I'll try to find someone and send a test quilt to them and if I like their work I can send more. Ruth - That must have been a strong weather front that came through, hope it's warmer there today. Good luck with finding the panel and working on projects. I'm pretty good at dragging out projects a long time too I'm adding a close-up of the Snoopy fabric on one of the quilts I finished since you like Snoopy Phyl - Good luck with getting things organized. Sue - Hope you are well and doing some crafting. It's another pretty sunny day here, just a bit cooler. I worked on a few more quilts this morning (pictures below) and have the backing cut for 3 more and need to press that fabric and the quilt tops again. Then I can cut the batting and get them sandwiched and hopefully finished by the end of the month. Then I'll put this machine away again until I quilt some more in March. This is a Disappearing 9 Patch. I think some of the fabrics came in a fat quarter bundle: Snoopy Christmas fabric quilt. I bought the hourglass blocks in the middle (dog bones on the brown ones) at a quilt show guild table, the blocks were already made): Teacups quilt. This was a panel that I cut up and alternated a teacup and background fabric in each block. Don't look too close at my seams LOL: Take care everyone!

Well, my friends I am exhausted... just been a busy and long day.
Ruth- sorry about the dramatic temperature change. Hope you can find that quilt panel you were looking for!!! My gosh, with all the crocheting you do, I would not be so hard on yourself. You get a LOT done and certainly much more than I do.
Phyl good for you cleaning up your craft area and getting rid of some yarn. It will make all your other craft supplies so much easier to manage.... Hope you put it all away before bedtime!!
CJ- such pretty quilt tops you have shared with us. I love the teacup top.- just because its SO darned pretty, and the disappearing 9 patch block is so stunning also. What a nice job you did incorporating the snoopy christmas fabric in white the center block. Its adorable.
Worked this am- then went straight to DD’s to babysit. DGS#2 is giving her a hard time (separation anxiety ) for his other grandmother. He was actually pretty good for me and I was able to keep him happy, most of the time. Today was a test run to see how he might be for me next week.
Gonna go sneak in a short walk and then relax. I did hear back from my long armer- she is having issues with her machine, so I need to see if she can take the quilt in and have it done on time for me to give it to DD. If not the quilt will go on a vacation to missouri.....and be quilted there.
SorrY I am so pooped!!! G

Well I did look for the quilt panel but had no success there. I think it was in the very long bin I had in my craft room bt that bin is not in there now so I'm thinking that I might have taken it down to the storage shed. I don't think so but I don't see it anywhere in the house so it's either in the shed or the garage and I do not think it's in the garage. anyway while looking for that I decided to look at that quilt top I started so many years ago and I already knew where it was. I took some pictures but then couldn't find the bookmark for that site that you gave us,CJ and don't remember the name of the site. The book she had us buy was in that bag slo and it's called Start Quilting and is by Alex Anderson and is six projects for first time quilters. As you will see I didn't do all that well with the star block. My best blocks were the flying geese and log cabin. And the star block looked wrong to me but it's exactly like the picture from the book.
CJ again you showed us some wonderful quilts. I love the top two pictures and love how all the colors work together. and the snoopy fabric is great. I did find my snoopy fabric while rummaging for that quilt panel. And I can't believe the amount of fabric I have. I also have a lot of batting (besides that whole bolt)that I didn't even know I had but I don't know if it's cotton or not and I also have some stuff that looks like insulating batting. I could well be wrong but it is shiny on one side.I should learn to label these things
Ginny, yes you do sound exhausted. Get some rest.I'm sorry to hear that your long armer is having a problem with her machine. I hope she can get it repaired fast.

I have been going through counted cross stitch stuff.will be giving up some hoops (did keep a few) kept some thread holders for floss.will not give up my floss just yet
I don't do ccs anymore why hang onto it all? I got rid of the kits a few months ago. Keep asking myself how can 3 deep drawers hold so much stuff.
Don walked in the room and said this is a disaster area! can I apply for government aid? probably not.sigh.lol
CV I really like the 9 patch and tea cups tops.I remember when the disappearing 9 patch came out.there were so many directions to it.Mary Jo printed the pattern off , talk about a lot of pages. think they have come up with easier way since then.
'YOU should see the dresser tops in this room ,loaded with stuff .sure glad I didn't dust first. PHYL

Ruth, sounds like you do indeed have insul brite there, PERFECT for quilted potholders. Hint, hint hint.....you can do this. If you have an entire bolt of batting perhaps it says on the end of the bolt what kind of batting you got. For most projects I would think that even a cotton poly batting would be fine- as I can figure you will make something lovely with what you have on hand... and will most likely not be going to pricey quilt shops. Some of the most lovely quilts or quilted pieces I have seen are made with what was on hand. I have seen some of what Jane has made, and its all been made with what she had in the house. Look at all the lovely quilts CJ has made....same thing.....what she had just “laying around”. (And I say that affectionately!!!!). Alex Anderson used to have a show on HGTV called Simply quilts. It was a joy to watch- I enjoyed it immensely. Now HGTV has replaced all the really good shows with these multi million dollar house make overs. Oh well, time moves on.
Phyl-so are we sending FEMA in to save your house?? Yes, ma’am!!! Craft areas can really look like nightmares...especially when they are in the process of being cleaned. Love Don’s sense of humor. And I gave up on ccs years ago. Dont have the patience for it anymore. Its stamped cross stitch for me, or crewel. Hope you are feeling better and glad the Tylenol helped.
Ended up working a lot. Sort of got suckered into it. Not a bad afternoon, just am glad the weekend is here. Missouri sent me a coupon for $10 off a $25 order. Guess I better figure out how to use that.

WEll I wrote out a long post and it seems to be lost Phyl, sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I, too, worked in my craft room and it is a disaster area also. I have more to do tomorrow but I got a good start.I hope your si joint problem is better so you can so what ;you would like to do and also be able to sleep without pain I took everything out of all the bins and no quilt panel. The long bin is still missing. I did find some more pieces of batting and I do have a feeling that they aren't cotton. I do know that the bolt is all cotton.I also found another piece of insulbright and also a piece of insulationg fabric I bought at the quilt shop where I attended the series of classes on making quilt tops. That one is a shiny gray like they used to make ironing board covers with. ON Joann's you had to buy a minimum of two yards. Wow, two yards is sure a lot of insulbright. I guess I'll have to make all the family some potholders and for the grandchildren also to put away for the future or the ones that already have their own households to use now.My living room is filled with empty carboard boxes from the craft room. Can someone tell me the name of the picture site that CJ uses. I'd love to post my blocks. It's a sampler quilt so there's quite a few different ones. Then you all can see my mistakes. I showed them to dh. He liked them. I might have to make him a quilt. in the bag with the quilt blocks there was also a bit of fabric, some of which is labelled that it's for backing and binding. Even years before I took the classes a coworker and I thought about making quilts so we went to a local quilt shop and bought some fabric. I never made anything with that fabric and still have it. So it and the fabric that I found with the blocks is the only really quilt shop fabric I have.My friend actually got at least tops made. I don't know if she quilted them or had them quilted so they may be still just tops. That was over 20 years agoOnly thing I did with that fabric was wash it.

good morning/afternoon, sure send FEMA AND THE RED CROSS DISASTER TEAMS IN.might be easier to throw it out the window, alas still would have to go outside and pick it up.sigh sigh.
I have the MISCELLANEOUS small stuff to deal with now, that can be harder then big stuff.
I am trying to figure out do I want to work in this room or take the day off?
we will not be going to far. the state WIAA girls high school basketball tournament is in town this weekend.next weekend is the boys.
found out some information on those darn memory pills commercials we see.
JIM (Don's brother) is having some memory lost problems. they figure the pneumonia had a couple of years ago is the cause.also has a mild heart problem ,does not need stents yet.will be 87 in April. (I also know age enters into it.)
their granddaughter (our grand niece)will graduate from a school in BALTIMORE WITH A PHD IN PHARMACIST. oh no this girl is not going to work in a pharmacy if she can help it. her degree will be in working with the doctors is in surgery.(not sure what their title is) she did her paper on the memory tablets, she told JIM and Theresa she could not find any thing in those pills that would help with memory loss.(THIS WAS AROUND CHRISTMAS TIME)
Thursday Theresa had her yearly check up (Mayo clinic) her doctor also
Said no. what they put in these pills is so little for memory loss it will not help.
Caroline has been a quiet country girl. none of us ever though she would pick this for a career .YOU GO CAROLINE! at her graduation I was amazed how many award ribbons she earned, not just in sport.PHYL

Ruth - the website for loading pictures so you can post them here is: postimages.org/I set up an account and then I log in each time I want to upload a picture using this website. I put all my pictures onto my PC computer and pull them into "postimages" from there, but Ginny might pull her pictures differently and can let you know how she does it. Let me know if you need any help with the steps to post a picture here. I look forward to seeing your photos. I'm working on some machine quilting today since I want to put all that stuff away by tomorrow. I'll be back later to post. Hope everyone is having a good day

CJ thank you so much for the site address.Probably if I had thought about it more I would have remembered the name of it. I'm sure you will do a great job machine quilting.
Phyl, I often have wondered about those memory pills. Back when I was studying for my certification exams I took Gingko Biloba. It had been years since I had taken an exam especially one that was really important and I didn't know if I could remember all the details I needed. It seemed to have worked.
After doing a bit of crochet yesterday and all that craft room work I started reading the quilt book. It was really interesting and it was the techniques that I was taught in the classes. I worked on my craft room again today and I think that I'm done with it for now. I just don't have enough room to put all the yarn so that I can actually see it but I'll make do. Someone please just kill me if I mentioned ordering more yarn!!!
Ok now I'm going to go work on how to post pictures. The instructor picked out all the fabric so color choices are not mine. In the book they have a beautiful rail fence quilt.Focus fabric is autumn leaves and is a wide border and rails inside the border pick up all the different colors of autumn leaves. It's beautiful. One thing she pointed out is to now use all medium colors. Then she showed a picture of blocks with all mediums and the same blocks with lights and darks. Apparently a lot of people tend to pick all medium. I'm not good at all in choosing colors. I'm often in awe of the blankets people crochet and how well colors go together that I might think wouldn't work at all
Ok off to figure out the picture posting.

Hello Everyone Ginny - Hope you were able to rest up today after working the other day. That's really nice that you got a coupon from MSQC, hope you find something fun to buy. Phyl - Hope you can make some progress with going through your stuff, we'd hate to have to call FEMA Sounds like your great-niece is really smart, and I wish her the best in her future career. I have a relative who also got a Pharmacy degree and she didn't plan to work in a store either. She works in a company that makes medicines such as IV bags, etc. She's moved up there over the years and is now in management. Ruth - Hope you have success in figuring out the pictures, let me know if you have any questions. I'm excited to see the fabric that you have for that quilt. I'm sure the instructor picked out some nice ones. If you have a cell phone and can take pictures there is a way to make a picture black and white after you've taken it and that way you can take a picture of your fabric and you'll easily see which are the darks and which are the lights. I also have a tool that is like a piece of clear red plastic and when I hold it over the fabric I can see just the lights/darks values. The more you work on quilts, I think the easier it is to separate lights from darks. It's the mediums that are difficult. Sue - Hope you are doing well I finished machine quilting all the pieces I want to do for this month. There are 2 others that I had pulled but I'm holding off on them because I don't want to mess them up. I'll have to take a picture of one of them and show it to you. It's a pretty table runner that I bought as a kit at a quilt shop. It has very dark color fabrics, but they are really pretty and I don't want to fool around with my beginner level of machine quilting and make a mess. The other pieces I did were just me playing around with fabric that I liked. I may take a few pictures of those tomorrow. I'm ready to put my machine away now until sometime in March. I'm really tired of machine quilting right now and I want to go back to some piecing. I did finish one piece that has some embroidery blocks in it and I didn't want to machine quilt in those blocks, so I think I'm going to do some hand quilting in them. My new sewing machine arrived yesterday, so I'm going to try to set it up tomorrow and test it out. It's basically the same machine as I have now but just has 10 more stitches and I think another foot. So I hope it works the same as my broken one. I'm sad to let that one go because I bought it at a time when I didn't have much money to spend on things and I saved up money specifically to buy it. So I guess I'm emotionally attached to it Take care everyone!
