Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE February 14 through April 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what not to care about. Your health, your familyâs health, doing what works for your corner of the world. Let go of the things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my âflawsâ have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when Iâm alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

February 14 start weight: 176.2 February 21: 175.3 February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in:
Grrr, finished my post, then Proboards sent a popup wanting me to provide a guest name. Grrr.
Yesterday was beautiful. By the time we got to the trail around 11:30 we didn't even need our sweatshirts anymore. In the afternoon I kept busy with little tasks, started a new Santa.
Today is starting out in the 50's, but drizzly. It's supposed to clear off by the afternoon. We have a phone meeting with a lawyer to get Georgia wills.
Jan- WTG AF53, steps, 16FP, blue dot despite treats. Hope the PT appointment goes well. I've always been helped by it. The trail usually takes about an hour. There are several different forks to take, some are loops. The main trail ends in a neighborhood. We usually park the golf cart at a picnic area about halfway on the main trail, then stay on the main trail to the last hill, then turn around and go back and walk the other half to the last hill on the other end, turnaround and go back to the golf cart. There's one fork we like to take that's not paved and unfortunately is usually muddy, so we only try it when it hasn't rained for a while, which is rare. DH made the lasagna.
Murphy- Hope your sore throat is better. Sorry you're not getting a refund on your taxes.
GG- Hugs!
Liz- So sorry to hear about your husband. Glad he sounds better and may not have to stay too long in the hospital.
Cathy- Thanks for checking in.
Cindy- Hugs!

Got my phone calls done and some cooking going. The rain has cleared off and I see blue skies!
Amy - good for you getting the wills done. I probably need to update mine although it's not like I have a lot to leave anyone!
Jan - I missed what the PT is for?
Carole - how are you doing girl? Is the house really quiet?
Cindy - is the weather warming up?
Liz - I'm so sorry about DH being in the hospital! Will be keeping both of your in my prayers!
GG - did you call the doctor yet? One of my phone calls was to leave a message at my dentist office about the emergency crown I had to have done in December. The pay flex card is needing more information. Otherwise I would have to pay the bill myself! So I need to get that straightened out since I'm having to pay the IRS!
Think I'll do my nails. Hope I'm not to shaky today! LOL. Everyone have a good day! Murphy

Hi girls. Waiting for a call back from the dr. I took the medicine last night around 8. Went to bed at 11:00 and Fitbit says I was asleep by 11:26. Thatâs great!! But I slept until 10:38! Plus I laid in bed drifting until about 11:15. Itâs now 3:35 and I still feel groggy. I feel like I could fall asleep right now! He will probably call in a lower dose of the medication.
Liz: Glad DH is in the hospital where he can get the help he needs! How scary!

February 14 start weight: 196.8 February 21: 195.8 February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in: "A year from now you may wish you started today!" "I am happiest when I take care of myself first" Good afternoon, I feel so off posting at this time out of my routine. And straight up it feels like a wine day. We'll see what I decide. Got up early for PT, had to shovel, slow driving to the appt. I think the therapy will help, she says my "butt" is broken . I've over compensated for so long that my muscles are all bunched up and it's changed my gait to avoid the pain. We will do a lot of stretching, supposed to sleep with a pillow or towel between my knees, wall stretches ice and heat. They do also want to do an x ray to see how much arthritis is going on and to have a base line. PT twice a week for now and home exercises. I need to be disciplined enough to really do them morning and night. Yesterday was a good day, hung out, cleaned up the dining room table, sorted some more photos, exercised upstairs. Got all our money moved and turned in my taxes today. Dh heard from the car transport place, coming in the next couple days I guess. No other big news, hope you all had a good Monday. Jan Amy. Sounds like a happy Sunday at home. yay for the warmer weather and it sounds great that you can take different routes on the trail to change things up. Hope the mud path dries up soon. We need to do a will here too!! Liz. Hope DH is doing well and can come home soon. Do you think it had anything to do with the covid shot? Glad he could get in and taken care of. We're here for you, hugs. Murphy. Sorry you have to pay, did you do your taxes on line yourself? Has anything changed from last year or did you have to take some $$ out of retirement fund? Seems you should have stayed sort of the same because the deduction was even higher this year. At least it wasn't a crazy number. We have been trying to move money into my IRA and health savings or we would have to pay back the $16,000 we got for health insurance stipend because our income was so much higher from taking money out for the cabin roof!!!! Uggh. My hip has just been painful for awhile so I finally went to have it checked out. GG. That seems TOO sleepy. Hope the Dr can get it regulated and you can feel normal again. Cathy. How did your day end up. Hope you got warm, got the chores done you wanted and are feeling good about your progress. Cindy. Is your snow melted? Guess we'll be testing out our new sump pump, supposed to get near 40 the next few days, see if the melt moves away from the house. HI Carole, which day are you going skiing? Who is going with you? Have fun. YOur post popped up when I posted, enjoy the game!!

Jan - I did do my taxes on-line. I got so many bonuses from the extra clinic coverage and the Covid coverage that I had a substantial increase in my salary for the year. I need to make sure I'm not going over my estimated income for the year too because I don't want to be in danger of having to pay back that insurance stipend. I guess I need to call my insurance company or the Marketplace to find out for sure what I estimated for my annual income. I think I remember but I'm not positive. And do you have to pay ALL of the stipend back or is it pro rated? Murphy

Hi All,
We had company yesterday...some people we know had been at a "warming place" but doesn't look good for them to get back into their home anytime soon. I had called to ask how they were doing and they said they were okay but they called back and asked if they could take showers...they were embarrassed to ask but yes, definitely, please come. So they stayed for quite awhile and we put a care basket together for them because they were heading to relatives out of state. I really don't know if they own their home but no heat and not sure when it will come on. They were financially strapped before so....I have no idea what my electric bill will be....one step at a time.
This evening Christopher and a friend stopped for dinner and when they came out a guy was stuck so they offered to push....DS pushed, slipped and fell. I think he has a high ankle sprain and his knee is killing him. Of course he won't go to Urgent Care. We'll see how he is doing in the AM.
Liz, I hope your DH is doing better this evening and you are self caring.
I promise to catch up with everyone tomorrow. Need to catch up on posts and of course laundry! At least the boiling water notice is over. I don't think anyone in my area took it too seriously regarding showers....cooking, drinking tap water, yes, but as long as the water was hot, a shower just felt good.
Hugs to all, hope everyone is doing well, Cindy
