Good morning!
Actually, there are 10 more minutes in Monday, but I decided it was close enough!
Jenny, not sure why I didn't use the microwave for that candy. I use it for puddings and pie fillings all the time. Also for making that easy fudge. It was the second time I'd made it, and it was so good the first time . . . guess I just thought I'd better stay with what worked.
Linda, so sorry you reacted to the vaccine, but glad you were able to overcome the chills. My cousin in Denver takes some sort of tram or train downtown if she doesn't want to drive. You probably know all about that.
I paid bills this morning. Guy ran into one of his McD's buddies at the Senior Center when he was dropping off some of my old paperback books. He decided to eat there for lunch. (He didn't care for it. He was there when they opened, and the food had been prepared early.) About 1 p.m. I decided I needed additional page dividers for my binders, I also had to pick up a prescription at the new branch of the pharmacy, and I wanted a hamburger for lunch. So I put on my mask, and away I went. Later, when I toted my purchases into the house, Casey went out the door. It took him about 15 minutes to decide he had a better life inside!
BTW, Connie, what cat food do you buy? We've used Iams for years, and Casey wouldn't eat anything else. He's turning up his nose at it now. I ordered Blue Wilderness with my groceries, and will try out that for awhile.
Gaak! Sandy that chicken sounds awful! So did you decide what that stuff inside the chicken breast actually was? If it were blood, how could there be so much of it? Mom and Granny raised chickens for the freezer when I was a kid. I remember the odor of getting the feathers off and using a lighter on the pin-feathers. I've also bought fryers and cut them up myself; however, now I just buy the pieces we'll enjoy eating. Usually breasts and thighs, occasionally drumsticks, and maybe hearts and gizzards every three or four years. Who got the wishbone at your house when you were a kid? That and the heart were priceless commodities!
Time to turn in for sure. I like Lion and Lamb for March as well. See you later today! ~~Mollyann

We lived on a ranch when I was growing up.. way out in the middle of nowhere .. with an alfalfa field on one side of us and an almond orchard on the other.. Mom had a garden and we raised chickens and rabbits... Every sunday was chicken fixin' day. We ate it all week long.. my mom was a good cook and she could make it many ways.. not to say we had it every day but throughout the week.. we would fix about six or either of them.. big family.. We chopped off their heads and then dipped them in boiling water , picked off the feathers and then singed the pinfeathers etc off over an open flame.. usually from the wood stove.. then my mom would clean them and cut them up.. I have never cleaned one in my life and that's ok by me. I said way back then I was never going to do it and I haven't.. too stinky of a job.......... hated it
Tomorrow, well actually that's today, I have someone coming .. I am considering hiring her to clean and help me get everything done.. need it done NOW. taking too long for me alone to do it. I want it done so I can do things I want to do.. things I enjoy.. found a super good sale at Micheals, so I ordered a super big order.. it came today and now I have buckets of flowers all over the dining room.. lol no not that many but I think I have four huge cans of flowers sitting on the hutch... plus I have three in my closet.. want to make some new arrangements and some wreaths. need to pay more attention to those kinds of things.. I have all the supplies I need except I do need to get some more cement.. then I will need someone to help with that..
Got my grocery order Granddaughter Ashley brought it.. she had to hurry because she needed to go babysit her other grandma.. but she wanted to sit and talk.. she was telling me about a new boyfriend.. She's.. quite a talker. Her mom and her other grandma aren't really people who one can talk to.. both are on dialysis and the grandma has alzheirmers and her mom is showing signs of it too.
I didn't get a nap today.. but I did get a lot of work done, only they were the kinds of jobs that no one can see.. inside cupboards and drawers.

Below 0 last Tuesday and mid 70’s today! Gotta love Texas weather!
We are still on boil water order. I'm going to go buy groceries this morning.
I worked on a poultry farm as a teen. I helped dress chickens and turkeys plus wash eggs etc. They delivered door to door. Kinda like the milk delivery days. At home we never ate the gizzard or heart. Also Mama skinned the chicken.
Not much else going on here. I will be back later today.
Have a great Tuesday all.

Chickens
The majority of chickens sold in stores today are between six to eight weeks old,” says Blonder. Young chickens have hollow bones that are thinner and more porous than their older brethren. When cooked, “the purple marrow—so colored due to the presence of myoglobin, a protein responsible for storing oxygen—leaks into the meat.” This reaction, in effect, stains the bone; the color of the meat adjacent to it will not fade regardless of the temperature to which it's cooked.
What about pink flesh nearer the surface? Certain cooking techniques—especially ones that use lower cooking temperatures, such as smoking—exacerbate the pink meat reaction. That pink smoke ring that’s a telltale sign of good barbecue? Myoglobin again. In fact, you don’t even need smoke to achieve that smoke ring.
Why is My Chicken Bloody In the First Place?
Actually, it’s not. “all commercially-sold chickens are drained of their blood during processing.” The pink, watery liquid you’re seeing is just that: water. The moisture that seeps from the chicken while it’s waiting for you to buy it mixes with that old rascal myoglobin, causing the pink “juices” that you see pooling around the packaged bird—it's called myowater, FYI.
That same substance is what gushes forth when you cut into a cooking chicken to see if the juices run clear. Unfortunately, that’s a long-held measure of doneness that can’t be trusted. The only way to know if your bird is cooked through: a good quality thermometer. (Here’s the Epi favorite.) To check the temperature, stick the probe into the meatiest part of the bird—checking both the breast and thigh is a good idea. You’re looking for a finished temperature of 160ºF to 165ºF. Accounting for carry-over cooking and the size of whatever it is you’re cooking, that could mean pulling the chicken off the heat anywhere from 150ºF to 155ºF.

Spring is Coming Soon! sounds like a great name for next month's thread. Lucy, you started us with that phrase today and it struck me how awesome that is.
Connie: I have been using Nutrish for my kitty. She has gained weight on it so it must be good. The vet says she needs to lose about 3 lbs. but I feed her on demand....in other words her dish remains full at all times and it is where the doggie can't reach it...or Shana would eat more of it than she does (LOL). I used to feed all of my dogs on demand and their weight was always fine. There was a time, long ago when I had 4 dogs here on the ranch. Three were mine and the 4th came with the ranch. I had a King Charles Spaniel and two cockers.....one cocker just moved in--- was abandoned by unknown someone. The ranch dog that stayed here when the old owner sold it to us was partly black lab and just moved in when we got here and put in a doggie door. He was an outside dog before. His name was Jake and such a love....I will never forget him.
Jim has been dealing with nerve pain all night so I'm going to have to take him to urgent care today. Obviously he needs a change in meds for it. We used the last of his narcotic (Norco generic) last night so he will be screaming all day if I don't take him. My Fitbit says I got 2 hrs. and 52 mins. sleep last night so it is going to be a pretty horrid day for me. Hopefully a nap will fit in somewhere but I can't imagine where. I was planning to shop today but don't know where that is going to fit in either.
See you all later!

Heading to 30° today and did say sunshine. That will help melt the ice on my drive way Not much luck trying to get it scrapped off yesterday. It is almost 6 inches deep Did clear a spot right in front of garage door. That was it,. Sun and warmer temps the rest of the week just might do the job by Friday.
I have "picked" up the house and made my bed. Calli is back on the chair in bedroom in front of window. She is looking for birds but I need to fill the feeder. The ground there is almost all clear. Our eagles that are on camera this time of year have decided to build another nest and for now using both of them, but no camera at the 2nd nest. His and Her Rooms?? they will send me updates and will watch, mostly the videos they send me. Too boring to just sit and wait for something to happen. We have several sites they watch but this is my favorite one. last year the female lost her mate, just never came back to the nest after the eggs arrived. she had a lot of visitors but chased them away until this male came and she picked him for the step daddy. He sat on the eggs a lot and was an all around good Dad last year.
Calli likes Indoor Purina Cat Chow. Only one she will eat. She kind of just nibbles all day, didn't like wet food and does not like people food of any kind. I do have some treats she likes in evening and she will meow for them if I forget. Paces the kitchen floor. Not fussy with them, but likes the Temptations Chicken ones the best.
Jenny, glad you got your flowers for your arrangements. Drawers and in cupboards are a good job as they make us feel lot better even if no one notices. Those are the things we like to do ourselves. I Worked on my jewelry area yesterday and found things I forgot I had and tossed some things that were just not nice anymore. Costume jewelry. Cleaned some also so it was a productive day. I think I can put the snow flake things away soon. I hope!!!
Lucy, I remember all those things and my middle brother used a lot of Butch Wax on his flat top. He nick name was Butch!! but that was just a coincidence. I hated Black Jack gum but loved our local diner where we sat and waited on the boys to arrive after basketball practice. No dancing like Happy Days. Had to have license to allow that but the juke box was always busy and we sang along. there was just one big juke box and was more of a teen age hangout but dinner time was family time seemed like.
( Now days we have a diner that is in a trailers like place all red and white!! all mementos of the 50's and 60's and yes juke boxes at the end of table . Good food and miss going there with the pandemic. They didn't attempt to stay open but have several other businesses so they will be back this summer , they say. !! By the river with outside seating. fun place to go. )
Us kids were the stamp lickers for Green Stamps and also the yellow King Korn stamps. had many items from turning them in. My Dad gave them away at the service station also. but he was adamant no sales no stamps.
For the Reveal dinner we are to wear pink or blue for our choice of what we want the baby to be. Well I am wearing a sweater that has both pink and blue as I don't really care. Think the Grand parents on our side are hoping for a boy as there are 2 girls so far. But I could be wrong we have not talked about it.
Lucy glad you are back, missed your pictures. Did try to post a few while you were gone.

Hi again!
Both of the brands of cat food you mentioned above are on the most nutritious lists. My order for Blue Buffalo Wilderness was out of stock, so I'll need to find some cat food somewhere else this afternoon.
The peanuts for the 2d attempt at peanut clusters were also out of stock as was my apricot nectar, and Pepperidge farm bread.
I have a buff and polish this afternoon, and a perm and haircut tomorrow. When Mom gave me home perms, she refused to cut my hair after she permed it. She always cut it first -- not wanting to cut off any of the curl. Now, I have those dry ends cut after the perm, so I don't have frizzies. Works great!
Sandy, are you okay?
See y'all later! ~~Mollyann

78 degrees at 3:30.
Molly, I get a haircut in the morning.
Where is Sandy? I hope she is ok.
I bought groceries. The shelves were empty. One gallon of water was the limit. No bottled water. I buy at Brooksires on the way to Bill's. That little town is without water. Set up on the school yard to give away water. Limited of course.

Hi!
This has been one of those nutty days. DD called and asked if DH could start picking DGS up to take him to school, then get him in the afternoons and take him home. School reopening in person has everyone crazy trying to sort out who goes in when and so many teachers are sick or in quarantine, that some classes don't have teachers. We have NO subs available here. They are asking for people to volunteer. Anyway, when he got home, they were having grab and go resident appreciation breakfast so that was next. Then I had a nail appointment. Etc.
Names for March:
Blustery March. Lion or a Lamb – Lucy, Molly, Diane Winter Going Gone
Spring is Coming Soon!
Feel free to vote when you are ready.
Be safe! Hugs! Diane
