Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post.

Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE February 14 through April 4
The word labor implies a specific task or effort, many times painful or arduous. A labor of love is doing something because you really want to, not because of any monetary reward you might get for it even though it involves hard work.
This challenge is all about a labor of love, reminding yourself to love yourself so it becomes your norm.
How often do we do something for someone else because it makes them happy and in turn makes us happy. But as the saying goes âhow can you love someone else if you canât love yourselfâ.
There are many ways we donât show ourselves love. We are harder on ourselves than on anyone else. We go over and over âwhy did I drink too muchâ and the ever popular "if I lost weight I would be so much happierâ. We are not showing ourselves love by overeating and over drinking, we are doing the opposite. To start, forgive yourself, or tell yourself yesterday is done, tomorrow isnât here, so letâs deal with the present.
We worry about so many things, things we have no control over. Resilience, happiness and freedom comes from knowing what to care about and what not to care about. Your health, your familyâs health, doing what works for your corner of the world. Let go of the things that do not work for you, help you, or encourage you. It is hard! You want to be a good person but be good to yourself first. Send out positivity but give yourself positivity.
We all have bad days, nothing goes right, nasty people out and about, stress levels are over the top and you have no control. This can be true in many ways but your control is to step away, love yourself.
Journal it, put it down on paper, and then let it go.
So each morning give yourself an affirmation. Here are some suggestions:
#1. I am worthy. #2. I am enough. #3. I am beautiful inside and out. #4. Even my âflawsâ have good and helpful aspects. #5. I love and approve of myself. #6. I am delighted with who I am. #7. I fully approve of who I am, even as I better myself. #8. I approve of myself and love myself completely. #9. I am happy in my own skin and in my own circumstances. #10. I am surrounded by love. #11. I am treasured for who I really am. #12. I am worthy of happiness and love. #13. I enjoy my own company as I get in touch with my true self. #14. I am at peace and happy when Iâm alone.
It may sound like Stuart Smiley but go with it!

It rained most of the morning, the sun came out around 1pm. We had the Zoom meeting with the lawyer at 2pm, had to look at a work issue afterwards, we finally got to the nature trail around 3:30. Beautiful weather near 60, lots of people on the trail. Someone commented again on our community FB page that they enjoyed the exercise shells, that it helped keep their toddler from complaining too much.
Today is starting out sunny and chilly in the 30's but is supposed to be in the 60's for the next few days. It's our 47th wedding anniversary. Holy cow, where did all the years go?!?
Murphy- Glad you had a snug day inside, got your phone calls done.
GG- Sorry you are feeling so groggy.
Carole- Yay for being able to watch Ty's game online. WTG going to boxing and having measurable improvement. Hugs over not having Angel around. I'm feeling pretty good by the afternoon, achy in the mornings.
Jan- WTG AF54, FP, moving 10/11 hours, money moved, taxes done. Sorry about your "broken" butt, the exercises should help. Hope the sump pump does it's job.
Cindy- So sorry for the trouble your company is having. I'm sure they appreciated the hot showers and care basket. Glad you are done with having to boil your water. So sorry about Christopher. Do we need to bubble wrap him too?
Cathy- Glad all is good. The last few years I was working, I rarely lifted weights. I'm feeling virtuous mostly sticking to a M-W-F schedule.

Word of 2021: Imagine.......the possibilities, the changes, what I can do and taking care of me. Labor of Love NEW CHALLENGE. February 14 through April 4 AF 54. Started Christmas Day. My gift to me for 2021! Feeling Good!! AIM 2 ANIM 4 Move More Accountability: 4 Get my AP bar each day, 8,000+ steps, walked upstairs, 10 FP. 11/11 hours. PT exercises Sleep Accountability: 4 8+ hours, crazy dreams Nutrition Accountability: 2. 39/23. A detour, sweets, that kind of day. BOT lunch packed, burritos for dinner planned. 9 weeklies left Journal Accountability: 5. Write every morning before any screens, record challenges, gratitudes and daily plans. Happiness Accountability 4. Just be responsible for my own happiness. Yay for a weekend. Habit Accountability: 3 Make 80+ oz of water a habit, plan for treats, walk daily, take time for quiet reflection each day, less screen time Check in Daily Accountability 5. I'm here. I come here first after journaling, then e mail, FB and Connect. Then need to check out. Time Management Accountability 4. Morning routine is pretty set, afternoon hours need more structure after work. February 14 start weight: 196.8 February 21: 195.8 February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in: "A year from now you may wish you started today!" "I am happiest when I take care of myself first" Good morning, Not sure what has set me off the last two Mondays but need to not get into that habit of drinking after going back to work!! Planning ahead for Dry March!! Want to get 100 days AF as next goal this spring. Need to get some rollovers back. Nice out this morning, sunny, going to be near 40+, I will be at work. But I know nice days are coming. DH has been trying to clear the snow and ice off the driveway and in front of the garage. When his car arrives it has no engine, just wheels so it will have to be pushed up the driveway and into the garage....should be an interesting challenge. Heard from DS this morning, they went to Mobile, Alabama this past weekend, weren't that impressed but then it was too cold for the beach so not a lot to do. Took the dog and said everyone enjoyed meeting Mack. Hope you all have a great day. Jan Amy. Sounds like a good day, glad you got out in the afternoon and people are enjoying the exercise shells. The PT exercises are really just what we should be doing everyday with the stretching and moving every hour. Glad you are getting in your weights and stretches. We want to see the 3 Santas together! Murphy. Didn't think about the bonus money, yep that would change things. I think you pay back ALL the stipend if you go over. When they put in your AGI it can't go over 401% of some magic poverty number, for two of us that's like 68,000 dollars, so I'm guessing yours would be about half that. I'd check with you planner to see what you estimated. I also didn't take all the premium this year so we have a higher monthly payment but it's working out. GL. Hope you have a warm day and can get outside. GG. What did the Dr say? Did he fix the meds? Cindy. Sorry about DS, how was he this morning? Sure he wants to just power through. So nice to help your friends and hope they can get back home soon. Glad you're done boiling water, have you had to go face a grocery store or do you have enough at home still? Cathy. Better to have a regular day than any "surprises"! Have you been doing much in your bullet journal? Coloring any fun doodles? Carole. Yay for making progress on your fitness. Hope the sun is shining down in Illinois!! Hi Liz, how are you and DH doing? Did you get your first shot? Time to get a move on, need some AP before work because won't feel like doing much when I get home after 5.

What will you be accountable for today? Staying A Free and to stay engaged with those around me!
Move More Accountability - didn't get on my bike but I did get some extra steps in!
Sleep Accountability - much better!
Nutrition Accountability - I fixed red beans and rice for supper. Higher in carbs but low fat!
Journal Accountability - keeping up with the AE journaling
Happiness Accountability - I'm feeling a peace in my soul!
Habit Accountability - drink more water!
Check in Daily Accountability - I'm here!
Time Management Accountability - I have a list of things to get done!
Labor of Loving yourself first! February 14 - April 4
February 14 start weight: 189 February 21: 190 February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in:
Good morning! I had another night of poor sleep. Crazy dreams had me waking up at 5:00 feeling extremely unsettled. I finally got up and did some work around the house. Then I spent a long time trying to update my insurance stuff. I think I have it straight now. I hope!
Amy - you have really started something with the exercise shells! That's so great!
Jan - from the research I have done I don't think you have to pay back the entire stipend. At least that's what the sites I found said. You would just have to pay back the difference in what you should have paid. But I went in this morning and updated my healthcare.gov application and it only increased my monthly premium by a little over 5.00 so that's good.
Cindy - I hope DS is feeling ok this morning. That was very kind of you to open your home up to friends in need!
GG - hoping that your doctor gets your meds adjusted.
Liz - hope DH is doing well. Are they talking discharge yet?
Hi Cathy and Carole!
I went out this morning to return an Amazon package to the UPS store and then to fill the car up with gas. A tank sure goes a lot further now! LOL. But that's good since gas prices are creeping up! I'm going to clean the house a bit. Two of my friends from church are going to come over tomorrow to go through the pile of clothes and shoes I've purged so far. What they don't want will go directly in the car to be donated! I imagine that the purging will continue in several stages. Even though I like the stuff I've kept so far, it may come to a point that just because I like it, doesn't mean I'm willing to let it take up real estate in my closet! Hope everyone has a great day! Murphy

Good morning,
Thank you for all the well wishes. DH is home and they have put him on regimen of Eloquis (sp?). He is doing great, and he said that the pain in his chest stopped shortly after they started him on the IV in the emergency room. They were very thorough and so accommodating so much so that they sent him home with the first month's supply of medication and set up a follow up appointment with his primary care.
You asked if they thought it was related to his first Phizer shot which my first instinct. They thought it highly unlikely but unfortunately do they really know since they are still in the study mode with these vaccines. He gets his second shot day after tomorrow and I am not going to lie, I am a little apprehensive but I won't express my apprehension to him.
I did get my first shot yesterday, Moderna. I was wishing it was the Phizer because everything that I am hearing is that more of the people who get the Moderna have stronger side effects on the second shot. DB & DSIL got their second shot of the Phizer Saturday with no side effects at all which is wonderful. Needless to say, I am nervous getting my second one because it is 3 days before Isabel is due and I want to be on top of my game since I have to baby sit Luna while they are in the hospital, and she is pretty active, lol.
Oh, and one more thing, not sure I told you that I had dreamed that DD would be delivering Isabel a month early on 2/22. The person that gave me the shot, who "delivered" me the shot on 2/22, and I might say pretty hard, was named Isabella! How frigg'n funny is that, LOL!
Will try to be better with posting and thank you again for all the concern, love you all

Hi girls. Dr never called. I cut the medication in half. Couldnât get to sleep, and then slept until 10. I think Iâm done. Besides feeling groggy, it makes me weepy and makes me want to eat. Hereâs my confession. In 2 days I ate an entire bag of chocolate chips. Anybody want to guess what the scale will do tomorrow? I think I need to work on my attitude. I have so much to be thankful for, and I just want to grumble. I have friends that are dealing with ârealâ issues. I did get to talk to DD this morning. She took the day off and just needed to be alone. And to talk to her Mama. 𼰠Plus my aunt, Moms sister, called this morning. Itâs always good to talk to her!
Last night I saw 2 deer fighting up on their hind legs and hitting each other with their front hooves! First time Iâve ever seen that!
Amy: Your weather sounds wonderful! Itâs 40 and sunny here. DH and I walked for about 10 minutes, but he could see that my leg was hurting. At least I got some fresh air!
Jan: Just the way you posted yesterday, I thought there would be A involved. I love how you can just let it go and start fresh. Iâm trying to stay on track today. Iâve also been getting into DHâs snacks downstairs. Iâm so far into the negative weeklies I donât even want to know!
Murphy: How are you doing with the depression? I swear thatâs where I am right now too. Still practicing?
Liz: Glad DH is home and on different meds! I canât believe itâs almost time for the baby already!
Cindy: Sorry about DSâs ankle! Glad you could help out your friends!
Cathy: I think thatâs part of my problem. Every day is the same as the last! Not that I really want to do anything!

Amy I laughed pretty hard at the totd! That was great! Skiing was fun! Not at first, I kept falling and sometimes had trouble getting up, but then I thought that was funny! It was actually a little too warm, the snow got sticky. All in all, a good time and I will go again. My jacket and bibs are 25+years old. One set of bibs fit, my jacket rode a little high but not bad all things considered. Murphy, think I need to clean out my closets?!! My long underwear and socks are that old too! Alexis is picking up Angels ashes. I didnât think weâd get them for weeks. What an emotional roller coaster! Iâve been AF for 32 days, or so. My friend daughter got pregnant by her boyfriend, they live togetherâit was a surprise. He is not happy. She has anxiety issues and is not even working right now. She ended up in the ER. Sheâs having twins. Canât imagine whatâs going on now. Sheâs like 6 weeks. Lex is back. Have a great night

Hi All,
Apologies for not getting back on board with posting...I really thought it would happen. Didn't sleep well, worrying about DS but he managed to get himself to work and his co-workers helped him out so he could sit more than walk. A friend came and took him to lunch.
Couldn't get my steps in today and really hope that an early night will bring the mojo back. I have been missing one of my RX that was to arrive on the 16th and thankfully arrived today. Got the food pantry list so started a box for that.
Have my tax review tomorrow....I just need "security" that I haven't transposed figures or put them on the wrong line. The cost is cheap insurance.
off to sleep...and am going to do my best to be back to posting tomorrow.
Hugs, Cindy

LOVING MYSELF TODAY BY: âď¸ Tracking: âď¸ Moving: âď¸ Sleep: âď¸ GHGs Fruit âď¸ Vegetables âď¸ Whole-grains âď¸ Dairy products-calcium. âď¸ Healthy oils âď¸ Protein (lean)âď¸ Limit added sugar and alcohol. âď¸ Liquids-hydrationâď¸ Multiple vitamin-mineral supplementsâď¸ Labor of Loving yourself first! February 14 - April 4 February 14 start weight: 172.4 February 21: 170.4 February 28: March 7: March 14: March 21: March 28: April 4 final weigh in:
171.6 scale is up though I follow the blue program. I will check portion sizes and keep them within the parameters and also track on My Fitness Pal for a few days...maybe? I will at least weigh and measure the protein!
I slept with the window open last night and have the windows open today. The birds are happy, the cat is happy, my husband is happy...and so am I.
My husband was notified that his turn is here for the vaccination SO he is scheduled for next Monday and I will drive him there. He is 82 and I am 69 so my turn is NOT here yet. I am grateful that he will be vaccinated and safer soon!
AMY: Happy Anniversary! I need to get back to the weight training!
JAN: How long will you be working? I have done NOTHING with the journaling or handwriting or anything like that! Seems I am too busy reading and reviewing to be creative! I am working on the exercise more as the weather improves, though
MURPHY: Does your hotel ministry include clothing? Would it be beneficial to some that get meals? Or the feathering group?
LIZ: So glad to hear your husband is doing well and that you are both going to be well and truly vaccinated with both doses...soon! I hope you do NOT have any problems with the second shot BUT know that they only last about a day if/when they do occur.
GG: I am sorry you are feeling blue. I hope that you start perking up as spring approaches! How nice to talk to your aunt and to your daughter in one day!
CAROL: So glad you enjoyed skiing and plan to go again in the future. That would be difficult to find yourself pregnant with twins and have a partner less than thrilled. I hope it works out for them.
CINDY: I am glad your son has helpful coworkers and was able to go to work. Hope your medication helps and you have more energy.
