WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C77D6, 7 water, 26 points, all ghgs except only 2 milk and no oil, 1210 calories, 4440 fitbit steps (collateral), 1 Binge April
This is truly a learning experience. The first day without counting I was like a kid in a candy store and, though remaining in control and journaling every morsel, I certainly overate on some less than healthy foods. The next day, I planned first – better than the day before – but upon checking, too many calories. As I mentioned I cut back to get below 1200. Today (Saturday) I decided to eat without counting but to base my choices on what I learned the past two days. I didn’t plan the day in advance, but as it turned out, the points came to 26 and the calories to 1210. I’m hoping to get myself into a mindset that I’ll be able to survive the 4 days of company without worrying about points or calories but to keep in control with particular attention to portion control. Tonight I actually did plan tomorrow. Comes to 29 points and 1380 calories and nowhere to cut back. By the way, my sodium has been averaging 500 gm below goal.
Jan – To not count calories while not going overboard is a major NSV. It’s what I’m working on.
Kathy – Are you getting close to goal? Sounds like you are well on your way. You’ve been on the beam for a really long time. I am impressed beyond measure.
Meg – It was nice here too but quite windy. It’s been feeling more like March than April. Wonderful that you got to take a bike ride. Are you near Lake Michigan? Lovely bicycle paths around there.
Edesia – Online courses is a great way to ease into a return to college but it does take discipline. That’s the hard part. DGK took some online courses last summer. She stayed with us a couple of weeks. Every time she was supposed to be working on her course, (while I practiced the piano) I would find her on her cell phone. Eventually with much prodding she agreed to let me have it. She was amazed at how much she was able to accomplish <g>.
Lori – Hurray for the free WI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Personal goal or not, that’s a real accomplishment. I wonder if it will ever happen to me again…. 4.4 lbs to go.

Oh, Nancy. What happened as a result of a pancake eating contest was so sad. I read about it in the New York Daily News, where it received front page and extensive coverage. (The NY Daily News has some political covers, which are surprisingly anti-Trump. However, a combination of something awful happening to a young, lovely, caucasian woman, combined with a link to 9/11 would have knocked WWIII off the cover; I know that paper.) Have you seen the woman's great-aunt? You are really going through a learning experience!
Lori, I am so happy for you. I am omitting personal messages for others simply because I feel time pressured. I am thinking that there are too many illnesses, too much work (due April 24 and I leave for Italy April 26), and too much holiday stuff. I am back to two Passover get togethers; the second is at a dear friend's house. He and his wife, who is also a friend, have little interest in food. Not that I have not done it, but it is very hard to overeat there. I also have a dinner party tonight. Main rule is no sweets and moderate portions.
Yesterday, was a perfect food day for me. Friday was red. It was the first time in a long time. I hope that each of us has a great binge-free day.

Morning, BFF's! We are going to one of my sister's for a pre-Passover dinner tonight. This is the first time we won't be doing a Seder. My mom is cooking most of the meal. I'm bringing a vegetable dish. Last night, DH really wanted pizza. We decided to try a new place that had good reviews and picked up a couple of slices each. The pizza looked like cardboard and was as thin as paper. DH had ordered one slice with mushrooms and they had dumped a few canned mushrooms on top. We took a bite each and threw it out. Then we went to a place near us that we knew was good. So much for that experiment. I had made some peppers and onions and had that as a side. TTYL
Nancy - This week with company is the perfect time for portion control with a tad of intuitive eating thrown in.
Jan - DH is doing ok, thanks. He misses his mom, of course. My concern for him is that I hope he can allow himself to grieve and feel his sadness in order to work through it. He tends to think it is wrong for him to cry and he buries those kind of feelings.
Lori - That's pretty amazing you managed a free WI. Well done.
Jane - A perfect eating day always feels so good. Enjoy your dinner with friends.

Sitting on my deck soaking in the sunshine. Beautiful day - just got back from a 4 mile walk.

C30. D16. Tracking. Stretching. Exercising.
Nancy - I'm a long way from goal - over 30#'s. And that is for the highest end of the WW weight range. I'm not even sure if I could maintain that WW goal - I would have to restrict food too much h and exercise all the time.
Lori - ahhhh! Enjoy the sunshine!
Hi to all!
Kathy
