Tried to replay to DotRen The alphabet must be in order. Our son works for Fresno Unified as a computer tech and during winter break he passed out hundreds of new laptops to children in grades K, 1st and 2nd including one to a little girl named Abcde. That's right Abcidy.

bbbearsmom, I love those pictures! To everyone getting the vaccines- After the second shot (for both Covid and shingles) take tylenol/Advil (your choice of pain reliever) and cold medicine every 6 hours. A friend of mine who is a nurse did this and had no issues. Her sister did not and she had some symptoms. I had Rick do the Advil after the second shingles shot and he was fine. A co-worker had a lot of symptoms after the second shingles shot for about 48 hours. Just passing the info on.

My daughter works at our county court house and said the same thing to take a pain pill after getting the covid shot. I posted yesterday but will repeat here, if you're married or live with a partner stagger the day you get your shots so you aren't both sick at the same time. My financial guys secretary told me her dad got the shot and had a two day reaction. Now it's her mom's turn that Dad is ok.🤗

I've read that taking a pain/fever reducer after getting the vaccine blunts the immune response that is the point of getting vaccinated in the first place. However, I haven't researched it so I don't know how accurate this is. Not helpful, I know.
OK I did some research. Don't take pain/fever meds before getting vaccinated. Taking them after may reduce the immune response but more research needs to be done. The idea is they reduce inflammation which is what the vaccine is causing. The consensus seems to be it won't make much difference if you take pain meds afterwards. So if you're suffering, go for it.

lani- thanks for the info. My friend was told not to take anything before but after was OK. But neither of us knew why nothing before, now I know. Thanks for doing the research

I took a combination of extra strength Tylenol and Ibuprofen after each of my shots. I was also told to hydrate well for 48 hours and take vitamins B, C and zinc. After my first shot I had a rash that began 5 days after the shot and which I treated with cortisone. After the second one I had extreme soreness the first night, chills and aches the next day, a good day and then tiredness the 4th day. My husband who got shots the same days as I did only had soreness.

After my first Pfizer shot, I had a large red area on my arm for a few days and some soreness for 2 days. After the 2nd shot, I had slight arm soreness the 2nd day and nothing else. I didn't take any medicine before or after. DH had arm soreness for a couple of days from both shots but that is all.
Houston Methodist Hospital (where I got my shot) today lowered the age requirement for getting the vaccine. Anyone age 50 and up can now sign up and receive the vaccine. I wish my DD could sign up. She's only 41 but is a 1st grade teacher and she'd like to get it now.

I wish they would open up more places locally for people 65 or over. We still can't get in anywhere. I think Texas is supposed to get in a lot more vaccines the first week of March and if J & J gets approved for the 1 shot we have been promised a lot more. I don't know if there will be any close enough for us to go to because we don't drive in Austin. linda72 They are talking about opening up the Circuit of Americas(COTA) for a trial mass distribution center. They are going to give to teachers first and then anyone 65 plus and those with compromised systems. It's too far to drive for us.
