Monday, Monday.....as that old Mammas and Papas song starts out. Sorry you could not make it here yesterday Ruth- as you well know I have done that myself, tons of times. Hope that you had a pleasant Sunday, as I wish the same for each of you.
Off to babysit today. This is going to be a long week, I think. I got the email yesterday to schedule my second shot, which will be Tuesday afternoon.
Have a a good day all- see ya later!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today. We had a lot of rain yesterday and this morning, but it cleared up this afternoon and I think the rest of the week is no rain and in the 40s. Since it's been so gloomy out I haven't been able to take any pictures with the bad lighting. I'll try to get some this week. I got the new sewing machine set up and tried it out and it works just like the other one, does seem a bit quieter too. I'm hoping I can work on some fun quilts this month. I did pull out a few quilt tops that I'd like to machine quilt in March, but I just need a break for a week or so. And I want to get to JoAnn's so I can buy some different color threads for the quilting. I'm thinking about participating in Pat Sloan's March quilt along. It's the same quilt block and you make one block a day for 30 days and ended up with a quilt top. I'm just having some problems figuring out fabric since I don't want to go scrappy. It's really crazy, I have so much fabric but I really have to find the right pattern to make the fabric work. Hope all of you get to do some crafting this month. Take care

good afternoon everyone. I've been doing some cooking so there went some hours of the day. I have started chicken soup, bean soup, and spaghetti sauce. All it needs now is to simmer more tomorrow and it will be done. I also mixed up cookie dough to bake when dh feels the need for more cookies. I also did the bill paying for this month.
I almost finished my baby blanket last night but one of the corners wasn't looking good so I pulled out that part of the border and will probably finish it tonight
CJ, I'm happy for you that the new machine works as you hoped and is even quieter than your old one. you'll have a great time using it to work on your lovely quilt tops.
Ginny, you are a very busy woman. Sounds like this week will be no exception to that.Only thing I have to do this week is take my car for it's yearly check and for yet another recall. This time for the transmission fluid cooler seals. I'll sit in their waiting room and crochet while they're working on it. There usually aren't any other people around and I think that's better than having someone drive me home and come back and take me back there. I hope your little grandbaby is happy with you this week. Today he might be a little leary but he'll find out that his parents actually will come home.

YAY! CJ- so glad to hear that you got your new machine set up and that it runs just like your other machine. Quieter too is a nice thing... think that its a great idea to take a break for a day or so and regroup. Guess I got the rain from you- it remained here pretty hard last night. Hope that you get some nice sunny weather soon. I know tonight is supposed to be cold and windy for me, not sure if that same weather will travel 300 miles south from me to your general area. Somehow, i do not think if you go to Joanns, that you will just come out with thread. Yet if some new thread inspires you to quilt more (and I do understand that!) then that is great. Quilting looks so nice in a contrasting or well coordinated color. If anyone is suited to the Pat Sloan March quilt along, its you! Gives you a good opportunity to use your new machine, and a chance to use up some fabrics that you have been hoping to use. I wonder if you can go sort of scrappy....perhaps using a color theme, but including a rogue color or two for variety. I will go check out her web page.....the idea of a March quilt along is so enticing, but I would not be able to keep up with that. Sounds perfect for you- and I think you would enjoy that.
Long day of babysitting today and then ran some errands on the way home. I picked up a bunch of closed mouse traps- nothing is exposed to harm a cat. The kitten still sits by the stove at times....not sure if she is hearing a mouse. I have several traps set, so if there is a mouse there, it should be caught.
Tomorrow I get my second covid shot in the afternoon, after babysitting. G

Bean soup!!! Ruth, I am coming over....its one of my favorite soups.I am sure that corner on the baby blanket was just fine, but bet it looks wonderful now. Will you be dropping that off with Dd for the baby shower? I agree, as long as its not an all day repair, I think I would stay there at the dealership too and read or crochet.

Good morning all (still morning here for a few more minutes). Ginny, I hope you're able to get both little ones napping so you can have some relaxation time. Are you working on that crochet wrap you mentioned? I know you said you will get your second vaccine today. I hope that goes well too. CJ, I hope you're happily sewing. I still have to go to Pat Sloans site and look at that QAL you mentioned. Phyl, I hpe you're feeling ok today and no back pains Sue, thinking of you also Well I got the border on the baby blanket. It's a small one...took me long enough to do it , Now I'm thinking of making a little teddy bear applique to put on it. I also want to make a larger blanket for either sleeping when the baby is a little older or on the floor for playtime. I made a mistake in measuring this one when measuring for time to start decreasing but it will be a perfect size for sitting in a car seat, baby swing or anything like that and when he's older he can use it to carry around if he ends up being a "blankie" carrying baby. I also started another dishcloth just because I like the stitch and wanted to try it. It's a different kind of waffle stitch and is way nicer than the usual waffle stitch.

Hello Ruth - Your cooking sounds good, hope you enjoy the soups and sauce. A teddy bear applique sounds like it would be so cute on the baby blanket. Hope you enjoy making the dishcloth. Hope things go well with your car check. Ginny - I'm glad to hear the babysitting has been going well, hope you do get to do some crochet today. Good luck with catching the mouse. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well and getting to do some crafting. It's a beautiful sunny day here, but very cold and windy. I had thought about going to the grocery store this morning, but decided to wait until it's a bit warmer. I did make 2 blocks for the Pat Sloan March Hope quilt along and I like them (picture below). I'm not sure if I want to do the whole quilt in just these two blocks or maybe add in one other color - I was thinking maybe a peach and white block or a seafoam green and white block - something like that. I'll keep making the blue and white blocks for a few days and then I can decided. I'm posting a few other pictures too of the quilts I finished machine quilting recently and the one table runner in dark fabrics that I'm not sure if I want to quilt or not. It's a really pretty table runner with the fabrics and I don't want to mess it up. I guess if I found some matching dark thread the quilting wouldn't show much. I just need to think about it for awhile. I'll put the pictures in the next post. Take care everyone!

Here are the 2 blocks for the March Hope quilt: Here's the dark fabric table runner: Here is a fall quilt. I wanted to test out this pattern that I might use for a panel, so I just used some fall fabric and cut it to the strip sizes: This one I just wanted to play around with the fabric without cutting it up, so I just added a type of frame around a long strip of the fabric: This one was another one I was just trying to use the fabric without cutting it up too much. I liked the crows fabric (it's weird I just like crow "stuff") and if you look closely you can see there are bee hives on this fabric too:

hi girls, I was wondering if it had to be the same block each day. I think it would be more fun to sew a different block each day..alas putting it together might be the big challenge. I have not been sewing so will not join, unless I change my mind. lol
I have been trying to get this room. got some deculttering done. i hvelost3 longposts.
I AM HAPPY ,HAPPY SHOUTING FROM THE MOUNTSINS, HALLEUJAH, HALLEUJAH!
I called my ex-neigbor Ronda and she will take the 6 bags of yarns.she explained to me what their church group and other groups are doing for charities.boy these gals are going to town, knitying, chrocheting and quilting. their is one hospial they donate to, every baby goes home with a cap.this is a small town about 20 miles from here.
this is funny Rhonda asked me if minded if she can take some skeins. I told her she could keep it all if she wants,I just want the yarn to go to a good home.
boy woudi like to be there when she and the other ladies go trought tee bags it wilL be like kids at CHRISTMAS time. I had though about calling her for2-3 days, yesterday I picked up the phone.I FEELS SO BLESSED I know The group will also. I FEELTHE LORD GUIEDED US TOGETHER.
THE lady in charge put ad in the church bullentin and a male memeber, went to Micahel's and bought some yarns for them. yep they are being blessed. PhylPHYL.

Phyl, how wonderful that you feel the Lord has guided this situation in such an obvious manner... I am so happy for you and this group- a blessing for both, you get rid of the yarn and the group can turn it for good. There used to be a song by Twila Paris about how being amazed by the work that God can do in situations in which we are powerless without his help. Decluttering feels so good!!!
CJ- You have quite an assortment of really charming fabrics....the crows are so cute, love how there are beehives in that fabric. Don’t blame you for for not wanting to cut up the snow scene fabric. Its really adorable - I agree it would be a shame to cut it up. I see nothing wrong with adding another block color scheme to the mix for the March quilt along. The only thing I would keep in mind is how many blocks you will make and if you want the third color way for the blocks to be occasional in the quilt or in a rotation. Also to take into consideration is the number of blocks per row and the number or rows. I might be tempted to add a fourth color way or perhaps using the two blue fabrics together in one block. Don’t know, I am just thinking out loud. Love the blocks you made, they are very pretty and I like your fabrics.
Ruth, have you come out of the kitchen?? Wow you have cooked a lot in the past few days. Did you make the border on the baby afghan in the same color as the body of the afghan ? Think the teddy bear applique is an adorable idea....don’t you love dish towels for trying out new stitches? The waffle stitch is so nice a dense stitch that is great for dish towels.
Kids were pretty good today- but its pretty rare that I can get these two in for naps at the same time. The almost 3 year old takes one nap after lunch, and her little brother takes two naps....but he is usually done napping by the time the 3 year old is ready to go in. They were good, so it was a reasonably pleasant day. Yes, I did get my second covid shot today. From what I hear if I am going to feel crummy- it will be starting tomorrow afternoon, 24 hours after I got the shot. I have some things to take care of tomorrow morning....hope that i can get through that ok.
Got 7 mechanical mouse traps in my house, plus the really cute 4 legged one. So far, no mouse.....oh well. have a good night all.

try putting cheetos or fritos in the traps. Theresa had gone into her extended sewing roonm and found the mouse had gotten into her salty snacks. phyl

Phyl, that's what my dh does with his glue traps. puts cheetoes on it or a blob of peanut butter.
CJ, I really like those blocks also. I like the top two the best I think but it's a hard choice. I like the crows one. It's so cute. And great idea to just frame a piece of fabric that you don't want to cut up.
Ginny, I'm glad the children were good for you and I can see how they wouldn't be taking naps at the same time.I'm glad you were able to get your second vaccine. and I hope you don't have any side effects
I haven't done much crocheting today. Most of my crafting was looking at projects the people in the crochet groups were making but I did make one scrunchy...how hard are they ..and fast two and I also started another earwarmer. Now the rest of this evening I plan on working on the teddy applique. It has a few pieces that have to be joined before you sew it on the blanket.
Oh Ginny, you asked about the border. Well the blanket itself is made with that yarn bee Sweet Delights in colorway puppy which has beige color with some specks of blue, yellow, tan and brown. so after I did a row of sc around in the main yarn I did a row of sc in a blue that I was surprised to find I had which was also Sweet Delight. It matched the blue specks. Then I did a row of that blue in the crossed stitch crossing behind the skipped stitches then back to the puppy color three rows of fphdc alternated with bphdc.

Good morning, Ruth, on a day in which you said you did not get much crocheting done, you have accomplished more than I did yesterday with a hook and some yarn. That Sweet delights yarn in puppy is just so pretty and a simple way to add color to an afghan. Sounds like that blue sc border was meant to be, in that you had enough of a matching blue! I would love to see a picture of this baby afghan. Hope that DGGD appreciates it and uses it for her little one. the teddy applique sounds like a lot of detailed work, but I will bet its adorable.
A busy morning into early afternoon for me. I slept rather poorly last night, who knows why. (Heard somewhere that that could be related to the vaccine). I do not feel great, a bit achy and a headache which Tylenol is pretty much taking care of. I know of many who want to be immunized against covid- and I understand their frustration at the difficulty to be vaccinated. Here in my state its a dinosaur of a system to work with and a real challenge to get an appointment. Guess I am a bit frustrated by those who are relying on the rest of the population to be vaccinated and provide herd immunity. And no, I am not at all speaking about anyone here at all. Sorry, just had to vent. I will say it was a pleasure seeing how well run the vaccine distribution was in my county was yesterday. Good to see so many folks out doing what is necessary for the common good. Enough of me bellyaching.
My taxes are done....will stop by today and pick them up. Maybe I will get my 2020 refund before my 2019 refund? Ha ha ha Ginny
