Vaccine distribution is a problem here, too. hb and I have had both, but I don’t think our activities will be changing very much. Minor reactions.
I thought I might buy a few copies of the sixof the newly banned Dr. Seuss books They are off the shelves, out of the bookstores and the few available are hundreds of dollars. I think these decisions may wind up being challenged in the legal system.
I haven’t been very crafty. I don’t know where my time goes. I have gotten some vases and jars in a variety of colors to reflect colors around the sun room which is on the west side of the house. The room will be painted sometime this year. It’s currently stained lap board. 26 years, and it’s time to do something different!

Yes,Sue, what a extraordinarily stupid thing that is to ban those books. I, of course, used to have a lot of those. I think I gave them to the grandchildren. We also got them from the library and we also had some of the videos. I really liked the Sneethces on the Beaches with the star bellies or no stars. I think it taught children a very positive lesson on life.I don't know if that's one of the banned ones or not. And then they make the company change Mr Potato head. Don't these people actually have IMPORTANT things to concern themselves with?

Ginny, you are a very kind person and I do know that you aren't directing your statement to anyone in particular. I can understand the frustration. Everyone wants this pandemic to go away. I, personally, am not relying on everyone else getting the vaccine and making it possible for me to be out in the world again.I'm not crazy about being out in the world even in good, aka non pandemic, times. I'm glad that those that want to be out are going to be able to do so. ....hopefully.I just think that this is not a time when I want to nor want dh to receive one of those vaccines.
And speaking of that, wouldn't you think that because we haven't been able to get to our doctor doe yearly exam because we want to stay away from sickpeople that the doctor's office would have sent a letter or something asking how we are and informing us about how to receive a vaccine if we did want one. I would think they would want to know if we're still alive.

Sue, good to hear from you..... hope you are able to get that wall/room painted in a timely manner. Glad that you and your Dh were able to get the vaccine. I know you and Dh are not out much- but its nice to know that because you are immunized there is less concern if you need to seek medical assistance or have repairs at your home. Just one less thing to worry about. And its ABSURD that the Dr Seuss books are being banned. What a crazy world we live in.
Ruth, if I chose to be offended by every negative thing that was ever said to me, I would be in big trouble and perhaps suicidal. Its time to get over it, ignore what is SO offensive ( meant sarcastically) and realize that life is not fair. Not everyone gets a blue ribbon for first prize. Deal with it. As I have spent the day feeling a bit subdued, and needing Tylenol most of the day, it’s frustrating to know that others are relying on my contribution to herd immunity. We all want this pandemic to go away. that is my contribution to it. the other trainer I worked with this am (who is obese) got covid and was extremely sick- being hospitalized for 5 days. He is lucky he is ok now. My doctor might- perhaps- contact me about being overdue for blood work and getting the vaccine. Gotta be honestl, I think most states have really left how to get the vaccine to each individual. If you were interested, I would try to call your department of health or office of the aging. Or investigate the internet.
Got some crocheting in while my hair color developed. Yes, I got to my hair appointment, even though I did not feel all that well. It was good to do something like that for myself Ginny

I don't know what it is about my laptops that all of a sudden everything is highlighted and zips away.
I had a long post about how I value the opinions of everyone here even if they differ from mine. I'm not easily offended and there are not a large number of people in the world who might offend me who I care about. That's what I like about this group. We have common interests and if one of us differs in our opinion of something the rest of us accept that we are all entitled to our opinions and that we learn from listening to the opinions of others.
Sue, I'm glad you stopped in and that you and your hubby were able to receive your vaccines. Last time you were here you hadn't received them yet. Sounds like you have some nice plans for redecorating your home.I may have to get busy on that when spring comes.
Ginny, I'm glad you were able to get to your hairdresser despite not feeling well. I'm sure it took your mind off not feeling well for a while anyway. And you got some crocheting in. That' always a good thing.
Well I did get the ends of ddil's gifts. Now I've picked up the bag with the blanket I started using the pattern you gave us Ginny. I've done one row and will work on this this evening and take it with me to the car dealer tomorrow
CJ, I hope you're having a good day maybe working on some more of those beautiful quilts with your new machine.

I think can hear CJ’s new machine humming.....some 400 miles away from me. Totally agree with you Ruth, i hope she is having a lot of fun with her new machine. CJ must have one huge stash of fabric in her home and makes stunning quilts.
Ruth, good luck with that afghan. Its an easy and pretty pattern. I do find it frustrating in the first few rows, it seems to twist on itself a lot until the weight of the afghan prevents that. but I guess that could be the case for many crochet patterns. Hope that your automobile work goes quickly and professionally. Of course it would be nice if you had enough time to get a few rows in....
So what was I ranting about yesterday??? Guess it was (and it was) about negative stuff said to me by others , some comments many years ago, even from my childhood. My frustration stems from those who won’t get the vaccine (not anyone here) because they want to wait and see or are lazy or are siting a remote statistic about a very tiny percentage of adverse reactions to the vaccine. I am really sorry and surely did not want to make anyone here feel uncomfortable.
Day 2 of the vaccine....my son in law took the day off from work, he felt really bad this am. he says he will go to work tomorrow, Dd said he was pretty sick last night. I was in my pajamas really early last night and will probably do the same tonight. I did go into work this am, and felt pretty good until about 10 am. Then I lost all my energy and just had a mental fog (which I sort of have now).
Spoke to my neighbor who is now signed up on 3 lists to get the vaccine- the county list that I put her on, a pharmacy list and the local hospital list. Here that is what we are instructed to do, get on as many lists as possible and of course get the immunization at the earliest time it is available to us.
Hope I can relax and crochet this evening.... and I promise, no more talk about vaccines from me!
Have a great day all Ginny

Well I'm back home much poorer after taking my car in for supposedly just an oil change and recall fix.Rodents chewed the wires so they had to fix that.
Ginny, I think that you shoujld feel free to vent, rant, or whatever you prefer to call it. We won't be offended.
I did get a few rows done but I also had to rip some out and do over because of not paying attention. Still I think I ended up with a gain of a couple rows anyway.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today We've had sunny days here the last few days with a few cold and windy ones. I always think March should have windy days. I went out yesterday and bought some groceries and I did stop in JoAnn Fabrics while I was out. I found some different color threads to use for the next few tops I want to machine quilt. I have 2 that I can use orange thread on and one (the Convergence quilt) that I think I'll use pink (or maybe purple). And I found a really dark red thread that I think will work on that table runner with the dark fabrics. I also bought some batting and I found a nice fabric with a blue background and daisies on it that I'm going to use for the outer border of the March Hope Block a Day quilt. I did decide to add in a green fabric block to this quilt and also I'm going to add a yellow fabric for accents and as a small inner border. I only decided on the yellow fabric yesterday so I need to rip out a few of the snowballed corners I've already put on the 4 blocks I've made and change them to yellow fabric. I hope to get that done today since I want to keep up with making one block a day. There are several layouts that are offered with the pattern at Pat Sloan's site, so I've picked one that I think will work with this assortment of colors in my blocks. She shows some pictures of layouts on the page linked below. Here's a link to her website about this quilt along and you can click on the pink highlighted area where is says download: blog.patsloan.com/2021/03/march-kickoff-do-you-have-trouble-with-selecting-colors.htmlHope you all are getting some crafting done too. Take care and have a good weekend!

I just read our state's regulations and found that the mask orders were updated and are in effect from March1st to the 15th requiring that all businness have a clearly visible sign stating that masks are required and that all their employees much use mask. So why does a large car dealer not have all their employees using masks?
DD is coming over today. She hasn't been here since May of 2019. We usually go over there to visit with her. So during this pandemic and even on the holiday we really haven't seen each other. I have been over there twice in the past year.
I may crochet while she talks. She likes to talk

Ruth - i pray that you have a pleasant visit with your Dd and that some good conversation flows between you. As she is probably used to you having a crochet hook in your hand, I figure she will not be offended. I used to travel to family visits all the time. Got some flack from Dh about bringing my crocheting when visiting his family, who tended to only chat about their own topics and made no interest in attempting to allow my participation in their discussion. Anyway, enjoy your time with Dd. Cannot make any sense out of your state regulations and the poor enforcement of them for masks. Of course its up to the car dealership to enforce those mask orders. I understand those who feel that their personal freedoms have been taken from them and they refuse to obey mask orders. Guess the best you can do is protect yourself by wearing a mask and socially distance. Are you still working on the baby afghan? Did you finish the teddy bear applique?
CJ- I LOVE your fabric additions to the Pat sloan quilt!!! Yellow and blue are one of my favorite color combinations. With the blocks you have done, that should be so pretty. Love the idea of varying the snowballed corners a bit, and IMO that will really improve the overall look of the quilt. Looking forward to seeing the finished project! What kind of thread did you buy- are you using quilting thread or coats and Clark’s? I have heard that my Husqvarna “likes” crummy thread better than the cotton threads sold in quilt shops. (The shop owner who sold me the machine told me that!). Honestly I am not that much of a purist that I would avoid using coats and Clark’s.
I have gotten two emails in the past 24 hours from reliable organizations offering the covid vaccine. Guess with the addition of the J&J vaccine it is getting easier for those who desire a vaccine to get one.
So thankful today is Friday. Ginny

I just heard today that both of our Walmarts have vaccine at their pharmacies and say that anyone that comes in and wants one can get it. I'm sure surprised that a small town like this would receive that many doses that they didn't need to follow guidlines in determing eligibility. I also heard there are six other locations that are giving it too.
CJ, I don't know what snowballing is so can't comment on that but after seeing pictures of your quilts I can tell you are very adept at choosing colors and that the yellow and blue are really going to enhance that quilt. I'm glad you found what you needed to Joann's. Wish we still had a Joann's here. We do have a Micheal's here now but I haven't been in it
Ginny, yes I'm still working on the baby blanket that is done by the pattern you shared.I think it's going to take me time to get that one done. I haven't finished the teddy bear yet but don't have much more to go. I just need to make the snout and embroider on the nose and do the two little eyes that are made with embroidery thread. I might change the eyes though. That may be my goal for Monday because this weekend's goals are to get all the items to mail completed and at least wrapped if not packed to ship.

Ruth, do not. Know this as a fact, but. I think what you are hearing about is the entrance of the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine (manufactured by a J&J subsidiary called Janssen). The entrance of the J&J vaccine is a true game changer in that is permits many areas to offer vaccine in a much less limited basis. I read an interesting article this am online about how being vaccinated ( two weeks after getting the second Pfizer or Moderna shot, and a month after the single dose J&J shot) more “normal” activity can resume. Things like attending a movie, or eating out- perhaps when its considered ok to do so, attending church without a mask. Many houses of worship are still not in normal function because they could not accommodate all the covid requirements. In my county two clinics are sending out emails to the general population (although here they are still trying to distribute to elderly, first responders, education workers etc...) that never would have taken place before the single dose vaccine was approved. Its a miracle that these 3 vaccines are out and ready to use, when just a year ago we had not even hit the worst of the first wave of the pandemic. That baby afghan pattern is so pretty, but does not necessarily go quickly. Bet yours is going to be so pretty......where did you find the pattern for the applique? Of course you would be able to change the pattern for the bears eyes-you have done so much crocheting that you would know many alternatives. Hope that this package you are making is a bit smaller and less expensive for you to ship.
I am a whole lot frustrated that my long armer has not responded to my last email. I really want her in put regarding the baby quilt, but if she cannot get back to me she will lose my business. Think Jane has plans to go pick up her quilt, and I might go with her and see what response the long armer has. Of course the easy thing would be just to mail the quilt to MSQ or just quilt it myself. Ginny

Ginny, yes it certainly is a poor business practice to not get back to your customers in a timely manner. She will lose more customers than just you if she continues to ignore people. But maybe she's been sick or something although if she told Jane to come and pick up her quilt she must not be sick. I hope you get answers. I know you want it to be quilted so that you can do the binding in time. And yes, I'm sure you're right about the vaccines. Everyone that wants one should be able to do so now.Bad thing now is that when we encounter a person with no mask we won't know if that person is not using one because they received the vaccine or if it's someone like me that didn't have the vaccine but unlike me in that they aren't wearing a mask anyway.
I was really surprised that dd came over yesterday. Always makes me wonder if there are ulterior motives when someone does something they don't normally do...esp my dd and her family. But no it was just a visit albeit, a tiring one.
Ginny, here is the link to the teddy bear applique video. She also has other animals and an applique of an old fashioned "pram"
CJ, I hope you're doing something fun and interesting today.

My long armer is not a great communicator- I know that from before. My next step might be to call her. With email and facebook I prefer to use them as it places no pressure on the recipient to respond immediately. But this seems to be too long to wait. Yes, its going to be very confusing in the future, not knowing who has been vaccinated and who has not. My neighbor got her shot this am- and said the whole process went very well. I am happy for her- as she really does not “do” internet, I was able to get her the appointment and print out all the forms she would need.
Agree, it’s always a concern when someone who does not usually call or stop over does so. But sounds like it was a pleasant visit- and that she stopped by just because she wanted to. That is nice.
Dd was here for awhile today- now I am just going to work on my study material for Monday evening. Will get some crocheting time in watching TV.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I figure CJ is using her new Brother and working on the Pat Sloane quilt with her few fabrics! G
