Yes I remember asking if you remembered Meg's bday as being in Dec and it was. I think you can do the clouds. As you said, practice some and see how they work out and you can decide then what to do
CJ, I meant to say that I have a Black and Decker iron too which is pretty old and works great.

Thanks for the comments and compliments on my quilts, I appreciate them I like posting the pictures here because it's a good way to look at the quilt. Seeing the Snoopy quilt here I wish that I had switched the blocks of Snoopy and cloud fabric and turned them the other way. I think it would have looked better, but it's done now Ruth - Sorry you waited for the packages and they didn't come, hope you can figure out when they deliver them so you can look for them. Ginny - Clouds sound like a cute design to quilt. I was watching a video this afternoon of different quilting designs. I know you've done a lot more machine quilting than I have but thought you might like to look at it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Uv5rCcvH4UI was particularly interested in the different loop designs she showed, since that is a design I like and used when I tried out the longarm machine at the quilt shop.

Cj, It's funny how we crafters always look back and wish we'd done something different. I know I do that all the time with either colors, a pattern or a border. And speaking of borders...well ok, sashing... If I had made that quilt I would have been very tempted to make the shashing in a plain dark blue so I'm glad you're the one that made the quilt because, as Ginny said, that red really makes the whole quilt stand out. As she said too, you have a great talent for picking just the right colors.
Well so far about an inch or two of snow has fallen so the whole 11.2 inches they predicted for today was untrue. Even if it started to really come down right now there wouldn't be that much by midnight.
I did get the packages. Finally got a message that they had been delivered and I was able to get to the mailbox and pick them up.

Good morning!
Megs birthday was December 11 (at least that was the date she registered on this site as a member). And if I remember correctly from what I saw yesterday she passed March 20?? So covid could absolutely have been a possible “culprit”. What a dear woman and friend she was....miss her. And I was unable to get her complete obituary online yesterday, which again I found to be lacking some details.
CJ- when I was putting together my BOM my online quilting guru told me to take a picture of a quilt before finally sewing it together. She actually told me to take a picture in black and white- which does give a much better perspective on dark and light concentration of a quilt. So I just took a long time to say that taking a picture of a quilt is great for us, cause we get to see your awesome work, and useful for you. The snoopy quilt looks adorable....and its perfectly sweet the way it is!! Thanks for the link to the quilting video. Will check it out once I finish here.
Ruth, good news that you did not get all the snow predicted. Gee, that is awesome that now you can know when your packages have arrived, sparing you a wasted trip to the mailbox for nothing but junk mail.
Darn that lost hour of sleep. Had trouble in the middle of the night sleeping, and well I feel a bit out of synch right now. Hope I can sleep well tonight. Think today I am going to watch that video CJ posted and then put my machine back into free motion mode and practice clouds. Yesterday Dd really encouraged me to give that a try- as she said that then the baby quilt is really all made by me.😉. Yes, I do understand that, just do not want to butcher it if I am not happy with my free motion work.
Hi to Sue and Phyl. Phyl, hope you had a great day celebrating Don’s birthday. Ginny

Hey CJ- just watched the youtube ! What I love best about most of these videos are that they impress upon the viewer that we should not be too hard on ourselves and that no one is judging.. I am really starting to lean toward a cloud pattern now.....clouds have different shapes, so if a cloud or two or three is a bit off, then who cares?? There are several cloud videos out there, different techniques. Thanks for posting and the inspiration. ginny

Well over night and so far today it's making up for lack of snow yesterday. It's still snowing and we already have a LOT!.DD's husband was out shoveling a place for the dog to take care of business. He's 6'6" and the snow was pretty high on him. They said it had to be about two feet but that's probably a little exageration.Wind is blowing now too which will make things so much worse. Got a notification from UPS that I have a package coming tomorrow. Yes, good luck with that! I wrote back and told them it'll probably be a week before they'll be able to deliver here.
Ginny I'm glad you watched the video because that's so true. We are hard on ourselves. Little differences in the clouds should actually make the quilt even more interesting. You can do this!
I think they did a very short obit on Meg because that's all I could find also.
Phyl, tell Don we said Happy Birthday

Well here you go folks....this is what I will be using on the baby quilt. Its called random pebble, and I like the whimsical appearance. I need something that will go quickly (covers a lot of quilt in a short amount of time) and looks sort of lighthearted- as the baby quilt to me seems a bit too serious. Think this does the trick in a thread that has less contrast with the fabric. Its not perfect, but did not take me all that long to get the hang of it. I tried clouds- did a great job drawing them (they say to draw them first to develop muscle memory) but had difficulty translating it to the machine.
What a wierd weather day! Cold and windy (sunny however) and we had some snow squalls for awhile. Perfect day to stay in and sew. Can you tell I am not looking forward to gardening?? Now have to iron the quilt, assemble the sandwich and get busy quilting.
Hope each of you had a great Sunday. Hard to believe that tomorrow is Monday again!! Ginny

Ruth, the obit last year had one additional paragraph- with minimal details, but surely more than we just saw. I do remember some mention of other family members....lacking Devin and Janet which would have been good clues for us. But I can confirm her birthday- and that we have not heard from her in a year, very sadly, I think this is her. All I can say - and this is based upon what was written last year (and has now been abbreviated) for a woman who so loved her family, as Meg did, I wished they had written a bit more of an obit.

Thanks CJ- think this random pebble stitching was inspired in me by the video you posted for me. Really- you should try this....once you get the hang of it, its kinda fun. But you do an awesome job with your straight line and wavy line quilting too.

Hello Everyone Ginny - I love the random pebble stitching!! I think it will really nice on your quilt, and you are right that the best thing we can do is not be hard on ourselves. I think only a quilter would ever look closely at quilting I really want to try some free motion quilting soon - your work and that video have inspired me Ruth - I hope the snow stops soon and you don't have any problems from it. I'm glad you got your other packages before the snow and hope they can deliver this next one when the weather is better. Speaking of obituaries, I had a friend whose adult son died. The only obituary I ever saw was listed by the funeral home and all it said was the date the man had died and that a full obituary was coming soon, but nothing ever did. It was very strange. I finished the other 3 Yard quilt I was working on. I love the floral fabric in this quilt, but I wonder if it would look nicer with a different fabric than the gold. The light fabric is actually cream colored, it's just hard to see. And the floral fabric does have some gold in it. I like these quilt patterns because they are pretty quick, but I have to really read the pattern several times, they are kind of confusing to me. It is a nice way to use 3 yards of fabric. Now that I'm done with that I can pull my green fabrics from my scraps and make my monthly blocks of those and also cut the scraps into 2.5 inch squares and strips and 5 inch squares. I use the smaller strips for a scrappy block I'm doing each month. Later this year I'll have to decide if I want to put all the separate sizes together or just leave them sorted by color like I have right now. Take care

CJ- with that quilt that you just finished (the 3 yard one) you have hit on one of my absolute favorite color combinations!! I really love the blue and yellow combination, and the yellow fabric pulls out the center of the white flowers on the blue fabric. And who cannot love those tonal white and yellow/gold prints which just get more interesting when you look at them and realize they are not just plain fabrics. Nice job!!! I have one of those 3 yard quilt books and have to give it a try. I agree that the directions seem a bit overwhelming- glad you were able t make sense of them and do such a nice job. Truth and confession time here.....now that I have settled on the random pebble look, I did save that final attempt, but in my garbage can are 3 other attempts (approximately 12 x 18 inch quilt sandwiches, that I played with and learned from. they look horrible. So just keep that in mind- pick out some fabrics that you are not planning on using or don’t mind if they are not used in a project. Put on something that relaxes you- calming music, and try. You are really good at straight line and wavy line quilting and I am really sure will be fine with free motion. It use feels so different in the beginning- and DON’T be too hard on yourself. G

Ginny, you did a great job on that quilting. It will look great on the baby quilt. Yes it seems like all weather now is very strange. And with this snow we got hopefully the moisture from it will help keep fires from starting and/or burning very much
CJ, I agree with Ginny, I think the gold is a perfect choice and definitely brings out the center color of the flowers
