Hey! Phyl came up for air!you get so much done! Glad u got to sew and sew. What kind of. Strong are you using on the baskets?
Ruth, glad Dh is feeling better. I carry pepper spray when I walk outside at 5 am. Just a precaution.. good news that your yarn showed up! I love working on dish towels.....easy and pretty too!
CJ, sounds like a good plan to use the same fabric for the border. I was looking at a quilting book today that stressed the individuality of quilting. Meaning that we each insert our own tastes and personality into our quilts and they will reflect that! No right no wrong.
Yes I did get to embroider. Hope to get more in tomorrow. Have a wonderful evening!

I read the ones from last night but didn't post since I'd already taken up a lot of space We're going out today when dh gets up. We have to take care of his banking. I do all mine online. Then we'll go pick up his prescriptions..I get mine online. We'll do a little shopping then back home. I think when I get home I'll fill the little cups for the seeds and maybe put the seeds in also. Then you know what will be done after that...evening of crocheting and reading. I hope I can find beef for a good price as I want to make beef stroganoff tomorrow.I haven't made that in a long time. It's hard to think of things to make. I always say that if dh leaves this world before me I'll exist on frozen dinners. OH CJ, yesterday in the mail I also got what goes for wonder clips. Or was it Phyl that mentioned them. They're such cute little clips. I don't know if they're the real thing but they'll do the job.I can see them being used for many purposes so thanks for mentioning them. Ginny, I always tell dh that I should carry pepper spray but he says with the wind here it might not be very effective and that also I'd have to get really close to the object of my spraying in order for it to reach the eyes. I do carry it though.I have some in little holders. I also have a stun gun but it's always been very safe here but you never know when that can change. With the stun gun you have to get close too I think. I've never used it. I also carry my cell phone which I don't normally use but you never know when you might need to call back home or 911.It's best for all of us to be safe.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today. I didn't get any quilting done today, and I need to stop making quilt tops for awhile, except for maybe just one more from a charm pack I have I did do a little bit of embroidery today, so that was enjoyable. I want to focus on doing some of the handwork that I've had for awhile. Take care everyone

I was reminded of all of you quilters earlier. I don't participate in facebook but I do have an account and go to it to see the picures of the great grandboys that the kids post. Also pattern sites send my links and pictures of patterns. This morning there was one that was a quilt made in squares (well aren't they all) and crocheted together. It was really pretty but It had to have been a LOT of work. I'll get the link and put it here in case anyone wants to see it. thegreendragonfly.wordpress.com/2015/07/22/crochet-and-fabric-quiltThere's not an actual pattern

Good afternoon! CJ- you have me howling......"I need to stop making quilt tops for awhile, except for maybe one charm pack I have".....Really? I can just see it tomorrow, you will have decided to put together another quilted top- which of course looks amazing- and will have done it in record time! Hope you had a great day- and yes, I do understand taking a breather and working on something else. What did you embroider? Ruth- glad you have pepper spray and a stun gun. They do recommend trying the pepper spray- (on a tree or rock ....something so you can see how forcefully it sprays) before you have to use it. In addition they also sell pepper spray for bears- more forceful than what is sold for humans- and recommend using it on animals. Were you able to find some beef for that stroganoff? What seeds did you plant? Dh and I just returned from a trip to Lancaster Pa, to see the play Jonah at Sight and Sound theater. I know Sight and Sound is an east coast thing- they take Bible stories and really bring them to life. Jonah was amazing- the "whale" is HUGE and actually travels in the air over the audience. It was a beautiful presentation- I loved it. THe tickets and hotel room were a Christmas gift from our oldest daughter. SO that is where we went to a quilt shop- and believe it or not I did not buy a thing! Quilts are pricey- we all know that- and now that I quilt, I would rather look at others so work and get inspired. The shop did sell Moda fabric, and I was hoping that they would have that layer cake in blues and yellow that I was not able to get. Unfortunately, they did not. Nonetheless, I came back inspired. I saw some really super cute quilted bowl holders - which are basically 2 pieces of coordinating fabric (probably about 10 inches square each) with batting between that are sewn so that they make a bowl holder- to put a hot bowl in for serving. Such a cute idea! THey were $10- and again, I decided that for the 15 minutes of work I could make those and use up leftover fabric and batting. They were so cute! Got wonderful news from DD- within the past 24 hours, they have won bids on not just one but two houses! (thanks to those who prayed with me on this). God is so good and has answered prayer. Of course I am very very thankful. The Lord does indeed answer prayers but in his own special time and way. So in the car to and from Pennsylvania, I did get to work on the pillowcases- which I am enjoying working on. I only have a little bit done- but they will be colorful and pretty (I hope!). Enough from me! Hi to Meg, and Phyl- who I guess we do have to remind to come up for air! Ginny

Ginny, it sounds like you had a fantastic day. I think my ds and ddil mentioned Sight and Sound. They may have gone but I don't remember for sure. Those bowl holders sound really nice and I'm sure you and CJ could whip up a bunch of those in no time. I'm so happy about the answer to prayer for your DD and Dsil. I've prayed a prayer of thanks. And thank you for the prayer for my dh. He didn't have head pain at all today and usually he has at least a little pain. We have a lot of bears here so I've seen the bear spray. I haven't tried the pepper spray to see how forceful it is and I should do that. That's what I like about craft shows too..they are always inspiring and really make you think of what you can work on yourself. Yes I'd bet that CJ isn't going to give up on the quilt tops but I bet, CJ, that once you have the lesson on the long arm quilting machine that you'll be making a lot of finished quilts with the tops you already have made and as Ginny said, they're going to be beautiful ones too. I haven't done the planting yet. We didn't go out after all so I didn't get the beef so instead I did a couple days worth of cooking and made lentil soup, scalloped potatoes with ham, pasta sauce with which I'll make calzones tomorrow, and also have a cheesecake in the oven for dh. Now I'm ready to sit back and crochet. I love this star/trinity stitch so I'm going to try the yarn I'm going to make the baby blanket with and see how it looks using this stitch and if it looks good that's what I'm going to use. I may try making a swatch this evening. I don't usually do swatches because I like to do things the hard way so I usually chain whatever large number of chains and end up tearing out a large piece rather than a small swatch. Meg and Phyl, I hope you both are having a good day. I bet Phyl is busy finishing those Easter Baskets.

Lentil Soup and scalloped potatoes and ham?! Ruth, I am heading to your house to visit! Glad you got so much done in the kitchen, which I am sure Dh will appreciate! How right you are, my next click is to find an online tutorial for those bowl holders but I am really sure I can knock them off without any assistance and some trial and error. Glad that Dh is feeling better too Ruth, and I will thank the Lord for that....hope he stays feeling good. CJ- I did check out that quilt/crochet combo....so neat and pretty!!!! It's a dangerous combo for folks like you and me who do both! Think I know what my next quilting project is. I have some charm packs (and MSQ still has the pattern) and might make that falling charms quilt. Totally different colors than the tutorial, but still coordinated and will look very country. (My style!). Meg, hope you are doing well. Phyl......breathe.......ha ha ha. (Gosh I love each of you on this thread) Ginny

Ginny, I was going to look but I forgot. Thank you so much for finding them and posting for us. I went to the site. I looks easy and what great gifts they would make!! I'm definitely trying this. I could use some of these myself so I might have to make for me first before gifts. But I could see these as Christmas gifts for dd, ddil and the grand children and grands in law as well as friends. And I saw that she said they are for cereal bowl size but it sure would be easy to make them larger for the size bowls my dh uses for instance. These would be perfect for him

I am just popping in before I go to bed. I had a PT appt. this morning and used my walker for the first time. There was something wrong with the mouse this afternoon so I couldn't use the computer. Everything is fine now. Devin hogs the computer a lot. It rained some today so he didn't get to go anywhere. Yesterday I took him to the park. I have managed to get quite a lot of crocheting done this week and my V stitch afghan is coming along nicely. I am going to have a lot of ends to get rid of as I change colors every row. But I will deal with that later. I will probably crochet a border when I get there.
I am glad you are all keeping busy Ginny, that is good news that your DD & her DH have 2 houses to choose from. Prayer helps and the more people praying the better.
I really need to go to bed. I will check back tomorrow if I can separate Devin from the computer.
Hope you all sleep well having sweet dream about quilts.

Good morning!
Yes, Ruth aren't those bowl holders adorable? I felt guilty leaving the one there.....the shop was SO nice and had SO many nice things- but these seemed so insanely easy. I am super sure it would be simple to enlarge for serving bowls, which is actually what I intended them for. We no longer use huge serving bowls- something a little larger than a large cereal bowl is perfect for serving hot veggies. Yes indeed, you could make a set for cereal bowls and a few serving bowls...which would decorate a table nicely.
Meg- I hope that you find the Walker helpful to you! I know it's an adjustment -but they can be very handy- almost like an extra set of hands - depending on which style you are using. I am amazed at what they now do in PT and how much good can be done....Please tell Devin that we all love him here- have learned to love him through his wonderful grandma, but that we love to hear from Grandma and he should let her use the computer from time to time. A border sounds like a great idea to hide where all those color changes are taking place.
Got a bit more embroidery done last night.

good morning, at the y yesterday we had a fire drill. this one we had to get out of the building. something to do with a sprinkler In the pool area and getting air In it. state law where there are kids fire drills once a month. so sometimes we don't have to leave. a staff member once said a real fire we would know and have to leave.
last night I got one easter basket done. just need to sew on the 4 buttons on it. maybe today I will get the other one done. now that I know how to do it will go faster.
I have seen those bowls. think for me it would be easier to buy one. I have made hot pads using the heat stuff. the one heat stuff says to also use batting for condensation. course you wouldn't put the pads In the microwave or oven.
my friend In flordia makes the kind of bowls you use clothesline and then wrap the fabric around the clothesline. looks time consuming to me.
enjoy your day. phyl

Ginny, I can't believe I missed one of your messages yesterday..it was the one in which you said you were going to look for an online tutorial. I LOVE reading the messages from all of you and I sure don't want to miss one. I'm going to look at them more carefully from now on.
Meg, yes I remember when Devin was born so he seems like family. I know he's an adorable little boy and it sounds like he's very well behaved too so would be a pleasure to be around.
PHyl, it sounds as though you'll have the baskets done by Easter and I'm sure the girls will be pleased.
Ginny, we don't use big serving bowls either but dh does use good sized bowls for the leftovers he eats. We don't use plates much, it's mostly bowls so those microwave bowl holders will come in handy whenever I get them made. I have such a long list of things I want to make both in crochet and in sewing. I've spent the morning reading and should leave the "secular" reading out and work on my projects. It's such a good feeling to look at something you've created. All of you know that feeling as well.
CJ, when is the class you're going to on the long arm? I'd be really excited about that. What I'm trying to figure out now is how to make a baby quilt like the crocheted together block on that I posted the link for. I'd make it small...size for a car seat which also would be good for covering the baby while nursing.
Today I'm making calzones so Ginny, come on over and you can have the lentil soup for lunch with a nice crusty Italian bread and then later some fresh from the oven calzones. Right before I woke up I was dreaming that I was somewhere where there was a little bakery and I was looking for cannoli. I guess subconsciously because of calzones. Now that would be a WW nightmare in calories. I've only ever had cannolli once in my life so it's not like the dream came from what I usually have.
Dh is still sleeping so I'll do some crocheting before I start making dough for the calzones. I need to make one more pair of fingerless today.I'm loving making these dishcloths but I do need to make a hat for donation pile sometime today. So see you all later after cooking is done and a couple crochet things are underway.
