Hello Ginny, Ruth, Phyl & cj. It's been a busy day. I went to my Knit Wits Gp. We had 2 new ladies wanting to learn to knit. One does not have good eye sight. She had knit a scarf in garter stitch and had made a mess when casting off. She bought her yarn at a store down town and the woman said the yarn she suggested would be good for a beginner. It was black soft and a bit fuzzy not good for a beginner. I had 3 big balls of One Pound that I brought to give away so I sent her home with that and told her to shop at Michaels or Jo Ann's.
Another lady who is a member of our group and an expert knitter brought a queen size quilt she made. She spread it out on a couple of tables and it was beautiful. Maybe she will start us quilting though probably not me.
Ruth, the years go by so fast and Phyl was also posting with us way back then. I am glad you were able to join us on this group. I think we are a good group and I enjoy sharing with you all. It would be great if we could all meet up I think we would do a lot of talking. I have been posting on the WWOW thread for many years and Pat is the only one remaining of the original posters. I did give away some yarn last week and I gave some away today so little by little I will get it into a more manageable lot.
cj, I did give away some yarn last week and I gave some away today so little by little I will get it into a more manageable lot. Your quilt will show up when you are not looking for it.
Ginny, I hope you were not too worn out from baby sitting to get some crafting time. You ladies have so many things going I find it hard to keep up with everyone.
Phyl, I think you run rings around all of us. I hope you find the M&Ms. We all have our favorite chocolate, which I should not be eating.
Sleep well and good night.

Meg, yes that was sure a poor choice of yarn for a beginner. Both dark colors and fuzzy yarn are both hard to see so if you're a beginner and also have poor eyesight that was definitely not a good choice for her. I'm sure she was thrilled by the yarn you gave her. I also have trouble binding off. My stitches don't turn out even on my binding off although I have to say that it's as good as some items I've seen for sale.I've seen things for sale on Etsy that look like a small child made it in craft class. Yes after seeing such a beautiful quilt I'd sure be wanting to go home and start right in.But then I'd realize that I'd probably never get one to look like the one the woman at your knit wits made.Quilting is one of those things I would have liked to do years back if I had been a "lady of leisure" My aunt that could just look at something and sew one that looked professional did a few applique quilts. They might not have met the official standards of quilting... I have no idea...but they were beautiful. She made them for on her beds and used them so they were practical also. I don't know how she did the quilting but probably not by hand. She was certainly creative.Wish I had inherited that gene.
And yes, I think that probably you, Phyl, Jenny, Pat and I were the ones that have been on the WW board for the longest time.Oh and Doris...she's been there forever too.

Hello Crafters - Hope you are all doing well today
Phyl - Glad to hear you finished the second basket. I hadn't heard that about cedar quilts, but had heard about plastic. I do have my fabric organized and stored in those large 2 gallon ziplock bags. Someday I'd love to get a rack/case to store the fabric in.
Ruth - Thanks for making me another soup
Meg - That was nice of you to give your yarn to the new person at your group. As a beginner myself I know I've bought some yarn that I thought would be easy to work with and turned out not to be.
Ginny - Hope you are doing well.
It's funny but the quilt top that is missing is in the pattern called Disappearing 4 Patch, kind of ironic I'm wondering if I confused that one and the Disappearing 9 Patch quilt that I did. I may have only done one block of the 4 Patch and not a whole quilt top.
No quilting for me today, but I did pick the fabrics to use for my weekly blocks and I'm hoping to get them cut and put together tomorrow.
Take care everyone!

CJ, yes that is funny about the quilt top that disappeared is called "disappearing".
I just finished clearing off my dining room table. We never use it to eat so it's a collector of "things". I've planted my seeds in the cups I got ready the other day and am thinking of repotting my large poneytail plant and won't be able to put it back where it is now because it will be too heavy so I'm going to put it on the dining room table. I'll look nice there and still be in some sun and it will have room to grow. It started as one of those cheap small plants at WM and now it's already huge.
So now I'm going to go back to some crocheting I think. I've finished my second glove and now need to do the seams which takes about 30 seconds but I keep putting that off. Then I'm not sure what I'll do next. There's so many things I want to make but am having trouble deciding which to work on first.
I hope you are all having a great day and hope to see the rest of you later

Ok, my post just got lost. Web site is hormonal today.
Meg- so sweet of you to share your yarn with that new. Knitter. I agree, yarn store yarn is not a good place to start.....a fast comment about quilting. I have a book of crochetted afghans that look quilt like and are very inspiring. Perhaps. You could do something like that.
Ruth - what seeds did you plant?
Regarding quilting, as CJ can attest, with all the fabrics available in charm packs.- very little cutting is needed and it makes the process go quickly. It's understandable if you just like to look at quilts but do not want to make one.
Phyl- congrats on finishing the second basket.
CJ- glad you are all set up for your weekly blocks with fabric. I will be you have quite an impressive fabric stash!
SOrry to be brief- I already had one post dropped. WIll most likely work on the pillow cases again tonight. It's a long project but I am enjoying it. Cannot wait for my charm packs to show up....I should have them in a few days
Blessed Easter to those who observe. Ginny

Happy Easter to you all. Not a lot going on here today. Devin has 2 big Easter baskets and he is going off with his Mom to friends and an Easter egg hunt. I will have Janet home this afternoon for a few hours so she will keep me busy.
It is starting to rain here today so that will put a damper on Easter egg hunts. I will try and work on my afghan this afternoon. I got quite a lot of crocheting time yesterday and finished my audio book. I will start another one today.
Now I am off to get dressed. I will check back later. Have a wonderful day.

HAPPY EASTER - Hope you are all enjoying the day Ginny - Hope you get in some work on your pillowcases today. Can you give us a link to the fabric in the charm packs you're waiting for, or maybe once you get them give us a link to see the fabric? I ordered a few more charm packs from Nancy's Notions a few weeks ago, and still haven't received them. Usually they are pretty good with quick service, but this time it's been very slow. Ruth - I've had some little plants like that over the years, you don't think they'll survive and then they turn out to be so large and live so long. Phyl - It's so sad when people get so ill and need care, it's a tough decision for the families how they take care of elderly relatives. Hope you did get to do some crafting. Meg - Hope you were able to get some crocheting in too. I finished the two weekly blocks and also did a little embroidery testings. Last year I saw this pattern at a quilt show and didn't buy it but wished I had. When I went to the big show in February the same store was there and I was able to buy the pattern. Today I tested out three different brown embroidery floss and picked the one that I like best. Now I just need to trace the pattern and I can start on it. www.primroselane.com/store/p71/Hole_in_the_Barn_Door_Wallhanging_Pattern%C2%A0_%28MQ-009%29.html - you only get the pattern, no floss or fabric. I also pressed some cream colored fabric that I'm going to use with this Charm Pack to make another Falling Charms quilt: www.fatquartershop.com/thistle-farm-charm-packI had thought about cutting these 5 inch squares in half, but I think I'd rather enjoy seeing them whole. Take care everyone!

A happy and Blessed Easter to you all.
Ginny, I hope your charm packs come soon. I know how hard it is to have to wait for things you've ordered. Now do you go back to work this week or have another week off? I know those pillow cases will be beautiful and a family heirloom. I wish I had some of the ones my mother had that my grandmother made.
I don't mind the cutting but with the falling charms quilt and not much cutting it would sure make it easier and faster.
PHyl, sometimes an impromtu visit like that is more fun than planning in advance. Will be praying for Kyle's dgps. As CJ said, it's so sad when people become so ill and it's hard to make the decisions to have them in a care center.
Meg, I know Devin will have fun. I just hope it doesn't rain so much they can't have the Easter egg hunt.
Ginny, this is the second time you asked what seeds I'm planting and I almost forgot to answer yet again. I planted large cherry tomato seeds. We've found that they grow better and produce more than regular tomatoes. I also planted a bunch of flower seed. Dh plans on planting habenero pepper seeds but he's planning on keeping them indoors because peppers don't like the cool nights we have here even in the middle of summer. For years I've tried to grow zucchini. Most ppl end up with an overabundance of them but not me. Never could get them to produce. Blossoms would form then just fall off and no little zucchini. I even hand pollinated but that didn't help.So now we just stick to tomatoes. One year we grew kohlrabi. That was good. We've tried parsnips but that didn't work either. We're too old and decrepit now to dig up a garden so tomatoes is it in large pots.
I'm going to go now and check those sites CJ gave us

CJ, I really love this week's Solstice block. Some of the people made excellent fabric choices. There are so many really good ones this week. I'm just always so amazed by how you can take little blocks that are a square made with two fabrics and put them together in so many ways to make completely different looking designs!

evening, we went for a 50 minute walk this afternoon. cj love the barn hole pattern. you are right some of those block colors make you wonder what idea they had in mind when they used them.
sometimes nancy's is fast and sometimes they are slow. not sure if they have to order themselves at times or not. tackony bought out notions a few years back. all she owns now is the tv production company. she goes in once a week and has to approve something before her name goes on the product. she has a book out seams unlikely. she talks bout her life on the farm and the business. I think she spent to much time on the farm. would have like to read more about the business.
thank you for the pryaers. phyl

Good evening! It's good to read all the posts and see everyone here. The pillowcases I am working on is bucilla butterflies in flight which is available on overstocks.com. The charm packs I ordered are the buggy barn basics from Missouri star quilting. I will see if I can find an item number ....it's a very traditional country line of fabrics . Right up my alley!

Sorry I am not able to drag a link over from MSQ for the fabric, I did check and my order has shipped. Guess I will have fabric to play with by the end of the week.
Phyl- glad you got a walk in! Hope your order arrives soon. And of course I will add Kyles Dgps to my prayer list- sounds like they all are in need of prayer.
Ruth- my mom used to love Kohlrabi! She asked me to plant some her last year. I bought the seeds and then got tied up in caring for her. It was a busy time. Well it's probably good that you are not successful with zucchini. They can really overtake a garden. Hope that it's a good garden year for you!
CJ- I see you also like rich colors- the charm pack you picked out is so pretty! For your embroidery project, do you plan on finishing it in a quilted frame like the picture?
Meg hope your visit with Janet was pleasant and that you also got some crochetting time in.
I am sore....we went for a walk and I guess I over did it. (I am used to a lot of walking). Guess I will have to behave myself tomorrow.
Got a bit done on the pillowcases. Almost done with the one large butterfly. Have a great night! Ginny
