Just found the total number of inches of snow we got. 26.3 inches of snow over the weekend.. Just saw a neighbor (not the one the is a great help to us) drive to the corner and turned and went back home. Guess he had his driveway plowed. I doubt he did it himself. Looks like he can't get down the actual road .

Well the neighbor did get our but seemed to have some problem even though our road is supposedly plowed but there are quite a few people that live back further toward the mountain and you have to go up a steep hill. Well a 4 wh drive pickup truck with a plow tried to go up there and he couldn't even do it.
I have a chunch of beef in my crockpot with potatoes (we're out of carrots) and have made sausage gravy and biscuits are in the oven. I love my biscuit recipe. It makes such high and flaky biscuits.
I did work on the baby blanket last night and am almost done with the main part.
Now I'm going to go watch those videos. I'm not going to watch the part about sewing machines and long armers, just the pictures of quilts and any instructions they give.

Up early here to start another long day. Spoke with Jane last night (actually saw her at study). She had just gotten back from picking up her BOM from the same long armer I used....and remarked how lovely it is and what a great job the long armer did. Decisions, decisions....now I am back to wondering if I should just send that baby quilt to Missouri. Just a thought.....
Will check back in later. Ginny

Hello Ruth - Wow that is a lot of snow I hope you get some warmer weather and that the snow melts soon. I love sausage gravy and biscuits!! I hope you enjoyed yours. Ginny - Hope you can decide what to do about quilting your baby quilt. I caught up with my daily March Hope blocks this morning, since I didn't get one done yesterday. I have 3 rows done. It like that I can go ahead and join the blocks and the rows when they are done instead of having to put all the rows together at the end, that's one of my least favorite parts of making a quilt top. I sorted out my scraps again this morning and have all the greens out so I can pull what I want to use this month and then cut the rest into even sized strips and pieces. I also sorted out all my smaller strips of all colors and put them in a bag. I'm not sure if I'll ever use these but at least they are all together. I'm not a fan of scrappy quilts that much so while I was doing all this I wondered if I was just wasting my time But I'll hang on to sort out the colors this year and then see what I want to do after that. Hope everyone is doing well today and that you all get to do some crafting

Good evening all.
Ginny, I hope you don't get too tired. Sounds like you're having or had a busy day again. It's a big decision decided whether to do it yourself or sent the quilt out. I know you want it to be perfect and a family heirloom which it will be either way. Lots of love is going into that quilt.
CJ, congratulations on catching up on the blocks. It sounds like you have a plan. Yes those scraps could come in handy but if you do decide and find a place to move, now you'll know that if you have to get rid of some things that those scraps are all in one place and can be dispensed with since you don't think you'll use them that's how I am with little bits of yarn. I do see some that are supposed to be "scrap busters" but there are very few I'd consider making and also most do have long lengths of one color. I do try to use the little scraps at the top of hats which usually makes for a nice touch.
Made cookies again today but spent way too much time watching the arrogant and pompous neighbor who thinks he's better than God, trying to unstuck his vehicle. I don't know why they don't just stay at home. Their retired, have plenty of money so I'm sure they wouldn't starve if they did just stay home. Eventually he, of course, called someone to come and plow him out. I marvel at how they go to gyms to work out, play tennis, etc but can't do their own home tasks themselves.

Hey CJ and all who follow....
CJ- you sound so organized!! What made you start with green fabrics, or was it just because? Its so tough to throw out fabric, especially knowing now much we paid for it and also how some really frugal folks can make a lovely quilt out of small scraps. But now you have that color organized and you can make a better decisions what to do with the scraps, even if its to throw them out. Glad you got caught up with your March hope blocks.
Second day of babysitting done..... working tomorrow am, and then am heading up to the quilt shop with Jane. Hope i sleep well tonight as last night was pretty bad again. Got a few minutes of crocheting in earlier....think I am just going to relax for the evening G

Ruth one of the funniest things I have ever seen is a neighbor who got his car stuck and spent hours with wheels, snow and mud flying as he attempted to free his vehicle. Of course the more frustrated he became the more mud and snow flew.....yes he finally got his car out. And yes, that household seemed very content to spend money having others do their normal responsibilities.. Some folks like to do their home repairs and maintenance- others are not capable. What kind of cookies did you make?

To show what this neighbor is like, back when my son and they're son were children my son was over there one day and their son picked up a banana. It was very slightly speckled. The father, who had workmen working on something outside, told his son not to eat that as it was overripe (which it wasn't) and said while pointing toward the outdoors, They might eat these but we don't.
My dh seems to be in a peanut butter cookie mode so that''s what I've been making for a couple months now and he's still asking for more of them
I'm glad you're getting to go to the quilt shop tomorrow with Jane, have fun

Oh dear....this neighbor sure sounds like he has some issues- perhaps tries to make himself feel good through elevating himself over others.
Every so often my Dh would enjoy a batch of peanut butter cookies...

I also put replace half the flour with oatmeal so it makes the cookie a touch healthier.
Found out that the message I supposedly got from the USPS on Mondday was a scam thing. Even at one or three dollas, if they scammed enough people they could make money.
I worked on the baby blanket last night and finally decided it's long enough so I'll do the edging and border and go from there.I know the border that is with the pattern is really too open and I was thinking of doing it like you did, Ginny, But I may make a box stitch edging which is also pretty open. I'll try it and see how it looks. I may end up doing a ribbed border. They have instructions and a video for that on Daisy Farm Crafts blog. She has some beautiful blankets there including one that has clouds crocheted in. I thought of you, Ginny

Well I was organzing things again and decided to get all my UFO's together. So one container I looked in were all the blankets that I thought needed edging. Well it turns out that there are about three that need edging and the others are actually all done. There are a lot of baby blankets in there so I don't really need to make any for my dgd's baby. They're all different sizes and different yarns and thicknesses. Of course I have one new one I just made and the one I'm working on now so now how to decide which ones to give her. There's a perfect "play mat" type and one that's a perfect size for a lovey so all I have to do is make the animal head and arms and sew it onto the little blanket and I'll have those two things to give her and also a car seat size and a larger one for when he gets older. Found out the shower theme is elephants so I was thinking of making one with shades of gray but maybe I won't either. I can make an elephant head for the lovey. Trunk might be tricky. On most of the elephant patterns I've seen the trunk looks more phallic than trunck like but I saw a pattern today where the elephant has a nice trunk
I also found out that, besides the waffle stitch one, I also have 4 other knitted ones that I started. Maybe I'll just rip those out and use the yarn to crochet something instead. Maybe finish the waffle and one other in knit

Ruth you are sure one brave woman, trying out all those patterns! Do you mark the patterns with your comments- regarding why you might have stopped working on a project? Love the idea of an elephant shower theme..it would be nice if you could find a good pattern to use for that. What about taking a plain afghan and crocheting an elephant shape on it? Just an idea and I do not know if itβs practical or not.
Got to the quilt shop with Jane- she picked out some adorable fabric for her baby quilt and I got the extra piece of fabric I needed for the binding. G
