You going with Jane for fabric reminded me of going to HL for fabric with a friend from the Caps for Kids group. She had made an adorable baby quilt that she was going to donate using Eeyore fabric. She had also made some beautiful potholders with a fabric that had coffee cups. She bought other fabric, I bought the ones she had used that I mentioned above. I never have used them and I didn't see the Eeyore fabric in with the fabric I looked through a couple weeks ago. I wonder where that is. Anyway I'm glad you were able to get fabric for your binding. Once you decide on who is going to do the quilting it will be done and you can do the binding and....bingo...it's done.
YOur suggestion for putting the elephant on a afgan is a great one and that's what I'm going to do. The woman who had the pattern for the teddy bear applique also has one for elephants. I don't know what happened to my type all of a sidden. and now I made it bigger and it's bolder. I didn't do anything to cause it to suddenly get so small.
CJ, what have you been up to today?

Hey Ruth, well you are keeping me on my toes with the font changes. That is ok!! Good that you have checked in and I hope that an elephant appliqué works out for you. The Eeyore fabric sounds so cute- Eeyore is one of my favorite characters!!
I am thinking that my quilt will go on a vacation to Missouri. The long armer from the quilt shop has limited different patterns of quilting that she offers- and I really have my heart set on paws or monkeys...MSQ offers that.
Guess what !!!!!My 2019 tax refund FINALLY arrived. Better late than never, and they did include a small amount of interest for my pain and suffering

Well Ginny, congratulations on finally getting your 2019 refund. They should have given you a lot of interest plus another bonus for all the time yu had to wait to get it. I'm glad you have decided what you will do about the quilting on your baby quilt. Both those options sound as though they will be perfect.
It was quite warm here yesterday and today is another warm one with the next two days to be even warmer...above 50...so the snow will be melting but very slowly I'm sure. It'll be awhile before we can get out of our driveway. Dh did a little shoveling yesterday but it didn't take long before he was completely out of breath. It did snow a little during the night. It covered the tracks of some interesting birds we saw in back yesterday. Road is still clear though as the new stuff melted right away.
Hello to CJ, Phyl, and Sue...hope you are having a good day

Hello Everyone Ginny - I hope that you can get your quilt to MSQC, where I'm sure they will do a good job. Congratulations on finally getting your 2019 tax refund! I hope the 2020 refund is easier. Ruth - I hoe the snow continues to melt so you can get out of the house if you need to. The elephant applique sounds cute. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's raining here today, but the temperatures have been pretty mild and not too cold. I think they said we might get a rain/snow mix tomorrow morning, but it's been so warm that I know it will just melt. I caught up with my March Hope blocks this morning, since I didn't feel like doing one yesterday so I did 2 today. These are for row 4 of 6 rows, so we're over halfway done with this quilt. I'm am interested to see how the final top will turn out. I also sorted out my green scraps (since that is the color for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge this month) and have them divided into larger pieces, 2.5 inch strips and smaller strips. I have a lot of dark green fabric and not much lighter green. I was actually surprised how much green fabric I had in my scraps. It was more than the pink, yellow and gold that I sorted earlier this year. I still need to make my monthly block with the green fabric and I've been thinking about maybe adding another monthly block in the colors, but I'm not sure. I'd like to do a churn dash each month. I have 5 quilt tops that I want to get quilted by the end of this month too, so I hope that I can get to those soon. It just takes a bit of time to get out my heavy duty machine and get it all set up before I can work on them. If I get them done then I'll have 27 quilts to bind I'm fine with just doing one thing at a time And most of these are small wall hanging or table runner size. Take care everyone!

CJ, I'm a big fan of taking a pattern and making it my own by making changes and I can see you like to do the same. Yes adding your own block each month is a great idea. YOu'll have a lot of binding to do but then they'll all be done.

Well, I did it...just ordered quilting services from Missouri. Gotta pack up the quilt and send it out. My falling charms quilt I will do myself. I just wanted this to look good for the baby. Heading out to mail it in a little bit. Will be back to chat later.

It probably doesn't take very long to get it back from Missouri does it? Which pattern of stitching did you choose? I can't wait to see a picture.
I was out twice today just for a few minutes each time doing some shoveling. It's not like we're planning to go anywhere but I'd like to be able to get out in case of emergency. There's still a lot of shoveling to go including a big drift in back of both vehicles. Even the 4 wh drive couldn't get throught that. We'll do a little each day and hope that th4e neighbor gets bored and while wanting to find something to do will plow some for us. I would never outright ask him to do it. I was brought up to worry about imposing on people and it's lasted all my life.
Awhile back we were talking about things that were unavailable in grocery stores or online. ONe thing I was looking for was regular barley. All they seem to have is instant barley. I guess when the bag of barley I have is gone I'll have to look in one of the other stores to see if it's available. I don't know about Amazon but if they have it I know it will be too expensive because they've been raising prices like crazy there.

Just got an email from Missouri, who I thought gave me all the information I needed in a live chat with their rep. Hope that it works out- if not they will just send the quilt back to me unquilted. It will be a close call if they have enough fabric extra to accomodate their machines. I picked a toy pattern, rocking horse, teddy bear, ball, etc....a pattern that should work out well.
Hope you are able to find the barley Ruth. What a pain in the neck when you cannot find what you are looking for. Like you, I am stubborn about asking for help. Any chance that some of that snow melts?
CJ- you sure are setting an aggressive goal for the month!!! I am sure you will get those tops quilted, and that they will look great. Its going to be interesting to see how the march hope blocks quilt looks with the different colors that you have introduced. I am sure it will be pretty.
Just got back from DD’s celebrating DGD’s 3rd bday. She is such a cute little girl. Hard to believe she is 3

Ginny, I can't believe she's 3 already either!! How did that happen. So this blanket I was just working on and still have to do the border is older than that because it's the pattern you used to make her blanket before she was born. Wow, I've left that sitting a long time. Of course I have older ones but didn't realize that much time had gone by. I should have remembered her bday because it's St Joseph's Day. When I lived back in NY people celebrated St Joseph's day by eating pastries. Much better in my estimation, than green or any other color beer. The quilting pattern you picked for the blanket sounds really adorable. I hope they can do it even though you said there may be a potential problem.
CJ will indeed be very busy with all the plans for quilting and making more quilt tops.
Well I'm sure you all remember my dilemma of the pockets on my made with Homespun yarn pocket shawl. The yarn has color variations and each pocket looked completely different and not enough of the yarn to go thru it and find some parts that worked so I ordered more Homespun...blah.... and made more pockets, two in a color the call deco which is a cream, and the deep purple I thought ;matched one of the shades in the original yarn that I used for the shawl. Well I ended up not liking any of those so today I unpinned and took those apart and took the one pocket from original yarn, weighed it, then made as much into each of two pockets as I could with that then finished each one with the cream color. It looks great now and I have them pinned back in place so tomorrow I'll sew them on, weave in a couple ends and that will be done.
I can't believe it's 7pm already and still so light out. Our state did pass a bill to stay on DST all year but there's some kind of law that you have to also have 4 neighboring states that will do the same.
Have a great night everyone

Good morning
Ruth, so glad you were able to resolve the pocket issue on that shawl. What an ingenious way to finish the pockets- by putting on a trim of a contrasting color. Sounds like you have an easy time now just attaching the pockets, although you are not, if I remember correctly sewing pockets on is not your favorite part. Hopefully it will go quickly and not cause you any more stress. Figuring out how to put pockets on that shawl has been a struggle for you and I bet that you will be happy when that shawl is done and ready to pack up to give to DGD. Seems kind of crazy that each state cannot figure out what time it wants to be in (DST or not) but I guess it makes sense in that many folks live in one state and work in another. So I guess your clocks just changed also. It is nice having it light later in the day. As far as St Josephs day- Dd makes a traditional birthday cake and beignets for DGD’s birthday. I think zeppole is considered the “official” food for Saint Joseph’s Bay. But then Yasir a good substitute.
Just feels good to be home today. They say were supposed to get some spring like weather and we shall see. Hope everybody has a great day and get some crafting in!
CJ, do you like green? I just wondered how you ended up with more green scraps than other colors. I’ve never heard you mention green is being one of your favorite colors. Well at least it’s good for the blocks you’re doing now.. And now as far as the churn dash block will you be adding that to another quilt?? Of are you just planning on making a quilt highlighting that pretty block.
Phyl- hope you are able to enjoy some nice weather. Do you and Don have any plans for the weekend?
Sue- are you starting to see signs of spring in your yard?
the sun is just starting to rise....just getting used to the time change here. Time to go feed the birds. Ginny

Hello Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. Ruth - I'm glad you were able to fix the pockets on the shawl, I'm sure they do look beautiful. I wish they would just quit DST too. I hope you can find some barley. I also hope you are careful with shoveling snow. I remember a few years ago we had a really bad snowfall. It took me 5 days to finally shovel out all the snow from the sidewalk, steps, around the cars, and the long driveway. Fortunately I was in better shape and could do it, but I was so irritated when I saw one neighbor helping another using a snowblower on their short driveway and other neighbors who had young men living in the house that did all the shoveling and here I was doing it myself. It made me realize that the idea of "neighbors helping neighbors" just doesn't exist where I live. The neighbors I had years ago were great and we all helped one another. Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get your quilt top sent off. That design sounds like it will be so cute. I bet you had fun at your DGD's birthday, it's so exciting for them at that age. I'm glad you are able to be around your grandchildren and spend time with them. I really have no idea how I ended up with so many green scraps. I can tell that a lot of them are just from a few projects, so I guess I just had a lot of extra to cut off for those quilt tops. I would not say that green is my favorite color, because I really love all the colors. I went ahead and made 2 of the March Hope quilt blocks today, so I have 20 blocks done and 4 rows finished. I also sewed together my green strip sets for my monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks. I'll share some pictures in the next post. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend

Here is the pile of green scraps before I cut and organized them. I pull out all the larger pieces and then cut 5 inch squares and 2.5 inch strips. Anything smaller than 2.5 inch strips go in my strip set: Here are the green, yellow/gold, and pink scraps organized into bags: Here are my green strip sets: Here are my pink and yellow/gold strip sets, you can see how many more green strips I had: Here are my squares for the Sudoku quilt that I'll make at the end of this year's Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I cut 2.5 inch squares (9 of each color) each month and save them up. I already had some pretty purple squares cut, so that's why they are already done:

I forgot to mention that Keepsake Quilting is having a contest on their Facebook page. They asked people to post pictures of their quilts and there are some beautiful pictures of quilts posted. Here's a link to their Facebook page - you have to read through the comments on the first post to see the pictures: www.facebook.com/KeepsakeQuilting/

CJ- you have done an awesome job getting those scraps organized!!! Yes, it sure looks like you had more green scraps- but I love the diversity of them.
Tried to contact MSQ about the baby quilt. Let’s see when they get back to me. Its due to be delivered to them on Tuesday. Ginny

HI GANG, have not been her for awhile.,nothing new and exciting happening.still having problems with the si nerve, spinal stenoils, and all the other ones,DARN IT.
I have not done crafting/quilting in so long I may have forgotten how.
I am reading the ALEX TREBEK BOOK, Is more a story about rhe reflections of his life then a story about his life.HE was a very smart and knowledgeable man.to bad the people running our country cannot learn from him. NO he did not mention his politics, keep that private.just sees another better common sense to things.
I knew his wife was younger, she is 24 years younger then he was. they did great together.
CJ ,I have some of your greens, the one in the lower left hand corner with the flower on it is one of my think it is a mangolina one of my fabrics.
years ago we were doing a brown bag round at our guild. you buy a yard or so of fabric and pass the bag a round. you keep doing this for so many weeks.when you get the bag back then you make a quilt,. my quilt is not made yet.
Ginny how much of edge did you leave on your quilt? here they tell us 3 inches. I always leave 4. I only went to a long armer once.it was for the quilt guild. phyl
