Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad you found your needle threader. I saw a video where someone used a toothbrush to thread a needle. A food craft with the grandchildren sounds like so much fun, is it Easter themed? Ruth - Hope you were able to get back to some projects. That bunny is cute, but I can imagine that yarn would be hard to work with. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's funny that you all were talking about bobbins, since I just ordered some for my Brother 1500 machine. I only 4 or 5 that came with the machine and since I've been doing more machine quilting I've had to waste thread by pulling it off a bobbin to empty it for a different thread. I finished quilting the other 3 pieces I wanted to get done this month. The pink thread and the deep red thread worked well on my projects, so I was happy about that. And I was glad to get them done and put everything away. I don't have enough room to keep out both machines, so once I take that one out each month and move everything in the room around I like to get done what I can. I'm taking some time now to go through the rest of my quilt tops and give a serious look at which ones I could machine quilt myself and which ones would be better done on a longarm machine. Then I'll have a good idea of how many I have that can't be finished without being sent out or if I rent a longarm myself. Since I have my design wall up I'm going to try to take some pictures of my finished quilt tops. I like most of my quilt tops but there are some I really don't care about that much. I saw that Pat Sloan recently posted a list of charities that accept quilt tops. I should think about donating them, but I don't know though since it's kind of hard to give them away. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend

Think they are the clear plastic bobbins. I will give them to Dd and see if they fit her machine. I have a bunch of metal ones that fit my old black singer. And some perforated metal ones that I think were for my mother in laws machine. Thanks Ruth.....so kind of you to offer to send them to me.

Mine are ones I used in my Kenmore basic machine that I bought in 1983 and in the Brother that I had and gave to ddil. I think they were pretty generic. I have mostly metal ones and maybe a couple plastic ones too. I may have spoken too soon because when I donated two machines to GW I did throw in some accessories. I'll have to check. I know I saw a plastic one earlier today when I was looking for thread to sew on some buttons.
The food craft sounds like fun.
CJ, I know you will hate to give away any of your quilt tops. After spending so much time making these projects we get kind of attached to them. And yes, I'll be real happy to see pictures.
I did get a bit accomplished today in crafting and just a little more to go before I'll have all the Indiana family things done

Good Morning all- CJ- its just funny how things like bobbin discussions end up working for all of us. I would hope that all 3 of your brothers (gee, you can have a brother and not have to worry about him moving across the country? Just my attempt at a sick joke)- anyway hope that they all use the same bobbin. Just venting here......I wonder why each machine manufacturer seems to ask for their own bobbin? Husqvarna absolutely has their own (and they are green with a raised H on the top) so, as you had to do, the machine owner is stuck purchasing a bunch of additional bobbins. And as you just found out, if you work on more than one project, well you need more bobbins. With all the quilting you are doing, makes a ton of sense that you would need more bobbins, especially with the cool color threads you are working with to quilt your quilt tops. Have you ever used a different color thread in the bobbin to quilt? For some of the baby quilts I did, where the quilt back was very monochromatic and in the needle I used variegated sulky. Just curious, when you rent a long armer- are you using a pantograph or one of their preprogrammed patterns? I have never used a long armer personally, and do not know much....but I would figure that some machines have microprocessors that will program stitch patterns. I think donating quilts is a wonderful idea, but can understand why that is a struggle. You have made so many quilts! I am sure you have learned from each. I do know of someone who donates quilts to a cancer treatment center (chemo quilts). Also would think that like baby afghans, a baby quilt could go to a hospital or a crisis pregnancy center.
Ruth, when are you hoping to have the package ready to send to Indiana? Pretty sure in this package you had some special items for DDIL- what did you end up making for her? (Think she has a spring birthday?). What were you working on this weekend for crafts? Were you able to get the pockets on the pockets on the pocket shawl? Bet they look really pretty with a different color edge to them, something I have not seen in pocket shawls. Come to think of it, I should make another pocket shawl for DD#1- but have a lot of projects lined up before I get to that. Were you able to get the baby afghan to your DGGD? Any news on the pregnancy and how she is feeling? (Or did I miss her birth, and if I did shame on me). And what is next for you? I know garden season is right around the corner for most of us...but do not think that your weather is cooperative for that just yet.
Saturdays are a bit hectic for me. DD#2 came over which for now is normal. I did mention to her several times that there will come a time that she might want me to visit her on Saturdays, especially as she is in the third trimester. Right now, we will keep things as is....and I do enjoy having her home. We got a nice walk in and are planning a day trip this week. Before she got here, I planted some grass seed and got my sugar snap peas planted. Its a great week for both plants for germination as it will be cool and rainy (but not too rainy). I do not mind the warmer weather, but dislike how having to weed and maintain the outside takes me away from crafting. The food craft I hope to do with the little ones is adorable and SUPER easy. SImple ingredients or components too- graham crackers, marshmallow peeps, coconut, icing and jelly beans...and food coloring. Will post a pic in a minute.
Ds bought cotton candy grapes. They are pricey- but while they taste like grapes they have a strong cotton candy taste, they are a hybrid, itβs NOT an artificial flavor. I would never buy them myself, but boy are they good and different.
See ya later....

Ginny, that food project is very.very cute. The children are going to love it. I've notices that it is a pattern, and has been for awhile, that your dd comes over every weekend. Does her husband have something special he does on that day too. It's great that you have her as a walking partner since you like to getyour walking in and walking is a great exercise when a person is expecting. And I know it's just great to have her with you for a day.
When I was going to the Caps for Kids group meetings there was a woman that made baby quilts and donated but I'm not sure who she donated them to.That's how I happened to get the Eeyore fabric as she showed us a quilt she made with it.
Over the weekend and today I am finishing up the tote bag that is a replacement for the one that I got the grommets crooked on and then, since tote bags are not noted for holding small items well I also made what is supposed to be a crochet hook holder bag but it will be great for pens and things like that. I also am almost done with a new tooth fairy pillow for them because the old one I made has to be worn out by now.Dgs who is 7 had his mother send us a picture of him with his two front teeth missing.
Yes I did get the pockets sewn on the shawls actually last week but them I didn't put another color as an edging. It looks great without one. Those are ready to go.what I've made for ddil is a button cowl and a bunch of other things for bathroom and kitchen.
I'm not sure how dgd is feeling. My dd hasn't mentioned it but I know that a couple weeks before the shower (which was last Saturday) she had to go to the ER because she was feeling so nauseous and I guess had the results of the nausea happen..they gave her some injected med for it.She is not due until the last of May so I haven't taken the gifts over yet.I think your dd's baby is due a little before my dgd's.
I remember that one week they had the cotton candy grapes here too which is a huge surprise since we don't get new things here very often.I really like grapes but not sure about them tasting like cotton candy and I don't remember how much they cost
I hope you all have a great Sunday.I really can't believe it's Sunday again.I think I say that every week but time sure goes by fast

Ruth, you bet these weeks go fast!! Think Ds mentioned that the cotton candy grapes were close to $4 a pound, which is absurd. I would never spend that kind of money on grapes, but he did. Anyway, if you ever get the opportunity to try them they really do taste like cotton candy and are made by splicing two different grape vines. the spliced vines can take several years to produce, which is why the grapes are so pricey. Forgive me for not remembering about the tote bags. I do remember how you had to make another bag because the grommets were not straight, Of course a crochet hook bag would be wonderful for pens and pencils. My mom had made a crochet hook bag many years ago and I still use it today. Of course I use it for my crochet hooks. I am sorry to hear that DGD was not feeling well- by now she is in the third trimester and that baby is large- probably not giving much room to her stomach.Hope that whatever they gave her to relieve her discomfort worked and that she can stay comfortable for the remainder of the pregnancy. Sounds like she is due about 2 or 3 weeks before DD is due. Yes, i thought you had made some kitchen accents for DDIL. And I do know those button cowls are popular, DD#1 had actually mentioned making one for herself. Yes, Dd does visit most Saturdays. DSIL usually goes to see his parents and to help his brother make hay deliveries. I am sure that DD will not be able to keep this up once her little one is born. But I enjoy her company and visits now while I can.
Spent a lot of time watching videos on making the quilt sandwich on a larger quilt. I could torture myself and make the quilt sandwich here, but those large tables pushed together at church will be perfect for the job. Already asked Jane if I could use them, and she was fine with it. So instead of aggravating my achy back, I will do that tomorrow. Have to go pick up food for the elderly cat anyway and the vets office is near church. So it all works out. Gotta go get caught up on my Bible study lesson for tomorrow.
Have a good night all Ginny

Hello Ginny - That little Spring house made out of food is really cute, I bet the grandchildren will enjoy making it and then eating it I'm glad you can use the church to sandwich the larger quilt top. I was thinking about trying the pool noodle method for the next larger quilt top I need to sandwich. Ruth - Sounds like you've made lots of progress on different projects this weekend. Hope you an finish getting the Indiana things done soon. I've tried the Cotton Candy grapes and I liked them, except for one time I got them and they just tasted like normal grapes which was disappointing. My favorite grapes that I tried a few years ago (and are hard to find in the store) are the Gum Drop grapes from the Grapery. These taste just like concord grapes to me, but they are seedless. Here's a link to the Grapery website to see the different varieties they grow and sell: grapery.biz/index.php - scroll down I think I have all my quilt tops organized now into categories that work for me. I have a few small pieces for hand quilting, a larger group that I think I can machine quilt myself and then a larger group of tops that are just too large for me to deal with on my home machine. I'll have to really take a hard look at the quilt tops I'd need to send out or do on a longarm myself and decide which ones I'd really want done. Looking at some of these years after I made them made me realize I don't care for them that much, especially not enough to pay to have them quilted. I also took a lot of pictures of my tops today and I've saved them to my computer. It will be nice to take a look at them on the computer screen to get an idea of how I'd want to quilt them. Hope everyone is doing well. Take care
