I’m planning to take questions from a previous WW program (Momentum). These items were referred to as Tools for Living.
6. Motivating Strategy:
Motivating Strategy helps connect you with the positive feelings that will come from having achieved your goal, so that you’re inspired to take the necessary steps. Us it when you need a push – when you’ve created a goal and you know what steps you need to take to get there…but something seems to be stopping you.
How to do this:
Imagine yourself having already achieved your goal, and enjoying some of the benefits. What do you see? What do you hear? What are you wearing? What are you saying to yourself?
Notice: What does success feel like?
Keep your feelings at the front of your thoughts as you continue to your goal. Use them as motivation.
What do you think of this idea? Could envisioning how you’d look/feel/act upon your goal help you stay on track?
(This also reminds me of something that’s been mentioned by many in the past – “fake it till you make it” – act like you already are what you are trying to achieve or be.)

I’m kind of ambivalent about this.
Envisioning success is a great idea, but I think envisioning a realistic outcome would be key - at least for me. For example, my knees are painful and I think that losing 5 pounds might help. I might envision myself moving as painlessly as I did 20 years ago, but if that doesn’t happen, would I be more disappointed and disheartened instead of motivated?
(or am I just being crabby and negative this morning?)

Yesterday my trainer weighed me and took measurements for the month. I was the same as last month. Interesting...in my heart I was fine BEFORE the weigh in and measurements. I just don't do well with either. I understand it is her job and her way of checking herself too. "We will have to come to an agreement. I am paying her. Don't get me wrong I care deeply for her and she is great. It took me a lot of years to realize though it is me I have to take care of - really, really, rambling here!!! Marie

Must be one of those non-motivated kind of days, maybe it is spring fever. We all have those days, weeks, months, etc. lol. I am inspired by the outstanding beauty around me. The spring flowers here are just stunning, I don't know if it is because we have had such a mild winter or what, I think the flowers are the most beautiful that I have seen them. My purple iris are open this morning & are just stunning. I am hoping to get re-motivated by the new growth around me. I also will go to my WW meeting tonight, hope to find motivation there. Great day all.

Interesting exercise to imagine myself at goal. I'll have to think about this one. Many years ago I had a picture of what I thought might be a goal weight and in an outfit I thought I could rock. Haven't seen or thought about that pic in a long time! Maybe this week.
Thanks for a great week Judy. I appreciate being able to count on you. Have a good evening everyone.

Just back from my WW meeting. I am feeling frustrated (mostly with myself) because I have been over goal now since September. 6 lbs over goal. Ready to quite going to WW meetings, but really don't want to do that as last time I quit (7 or so years ago) I gained back all my weight loss. She suggested that I track this week, eat less fruits and more veggies and more protein (this weeks topic). We will talk again next week and see what happens.
Thinking I need to act like a brand new WW and be very aware of everything that I eat. Time to pull out all my WW materials and buckle down.
Seeing myself at goal but way off in the distance................

I have heard of visualizing where you want to be while lying in bed in the morning and before going to sleep...you know...the thin body, happy, etc and then thanking our self/body for being so good to us...
