Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get out to the grocery store and hopefully found everything you needed. I find grocery shopping exhausting now too. I do miss getting a smaller order but I don't miss that I had to go each week to get that done. I'm kind of used to going every 2-3 weeks now. I also need to walk more. I used to walk in the house all the time, but I let it go. I'm hoping to do better this month and get back in habit of exercising every day. Hope you can get some walking done in your house too. Ginny - I'm glad you are getting things done for the baby shower and I hope all the preparations go well I watched a few videos on free motion quilting over the last few days too and I've been looking at pictures of free motion patterns. I tried some this morning and while I don't hate it, I really don't like it either. I'm not sure that I'm willing to put in the practice time to even get just fairly good at it. I sure don't want to mess up any of my really pretty quilt tops, but maybe I'll try it on one I don't like as much after getting some more practice. You had asked me about using a longarm and several years ago I did take a longarm class and rented one after that to quilt a few tops. Before the virus I was hoping to take a class again to refresh my memory and then rent a longarm to get some tops done. I like the motion of moving the handlebars and the machine more than using my hands to move the fabric on a domestic sewing machine. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting some crafting done. After rain yesterday, we have two cold and windy days here. I'm kind of happy to have just a bit more cooler weather before things heat up. I don't have any plans for the Easter weekend. Hope you all get to do something special Take care everyone!

HI CRAFTERS, think it have been a week or longer since I've been here don't know why.
a few days ago I was in my sewing area, think it took me longer to figure out what WIPS (works in proress) I wanted to work on if i go to sew day in APRIL.
think it took me longer to get ready then to just stitch in the ditch the boarder. this is funny, been over a year since I use my little Eversewn I take to class,
I FORGOT HOW TO UNLOCK THE MACHINE SO I COULD SEW.I knew so got out the book on how to unlock the machine duh it was that little spot, touch it and the machine unlocked now did I really forget or was my mind playing games on me??? when I got up from the chair I could hardly walk.
told Nita that and she said oh my gosh you are in worse shape then I am and you are younger then me.
Kathy (guild member) is trying to set up a sew day in April or May,10 people, masks, no food to share, and have gotten the vaccine. I told Nita I don't think I better skip the APRIL one and try for MAY.
works in progress is a group that will meet once a month and work on what ever they want. usually we meet at the quilt shop and it cost $30.00 year,.pays for the rent for the rent of th room. Nita has been trying to get me to join for about 3 years now.
SUNDAY we went sandal shopping, got a nice new pair for my birthday tomorrow . Ecco''s and very colorful.last year in the 70's.oh hum
I took a free motion class with LORI KENNEDY, I really like her style and videos. course it would help if I would practice. phyl

There are several low impact walking videos, I happen to like Leslie Sansone’s for her upbeat and friendly videos. And Ruth, I think you are totally right that 10-15 minutes of sustained walking is needed to help strengthen the heart. Hope you can get some crocheting done today.
Phyl, happy birthday tomorrow!!! Glad you got a nice new pair of sandals-a very nice treat.
CJ- are you attempting designs or random stipple? The class I took suggested spending a fair amount of time drawing on paper the design you want to quilt. It does help a lot- as it helps you figure out where the design can dead end, and how to get out of those dead ends. Echo stitching or just a connecting squiggle to another area usually works. And believe me, it all looks better the next day. One of the easier FMQ is the squiggle....which is similar to your wavy lines, but with more variation. I found that the MSQ video on random stipple was really helpful. You have to relax...and make sure you do not tense your shoulders. Got confidence in you...you can do this. But as, you said, its a matter of if you want to put the time into it or not.
Got those invitations mailed....on to the next part of planning. G

CJ- have you seen this video?? She does not wear the machiners gloves.....and using a silicone spray on the machine bed helps make the fabric glide better. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGNOS5JQHYQ

Happy birthday in advance, Phyl. You are just a little older than me.About 6 1/2 months older is all, then I'll join you in enjoying that last 70's year. I think both of us are doing pretty well for our age.
Well the defrosting was not as bad as I thought. The ice melted fast. I don't know what time I started but I would think that it took only about an hour.
CJ,we used to go every week too and to 3 different stores usually. Now it's about once a month and only to pickup the curbside pickup order. I think that we've been in stores 4 times in this past year (maybe 5)and one of the stores we used to stop at,we haven't been to at all for at least a year.

Good to hear that the defrosting was not as painful as you had anticipated. I well remember the freezer we used to have that needed manual defrosting. What a pain in the neck it is!!! Perhaps that it was not as badly frosted as you had thought- or was the air temperature a bit warmer? Gee, you and Dh have really been relying on curbside pickup if you have been in the stores that infrequently. Think about it, a year ago, none of us even knew what curbside pickup was. I wonder if stores will keep that option available even after the pandemic is over. That is if the pandemic is ever over. And. Yes, I think both you and Phyl are doing great !!! I have signed up two neighbors for their covid shots-neither does much of anything with the computer. Both you and Phyl are quite computer savvy and accomplish a lot with it- and deserve a lot of credit for that. Do you think you will get some crocheting in today? You have a few hours of today left, for me its almost time for bed.
Have a good night all Ginny

Ginny, thanks for reminding me that I do have several of Leslie Sanson's videos. I used to try just to walk in place but it hurt my SI joints so I had to stop doing that but pretty much forgot about the videos. I haven't had any problem with then but it's been quite awhile since I walked with them
Phyl, get ready, we're coming over with cake and ice cream

Would love to get together and join you for Phyl’s birthday!!!!
Happy Birthday Phyl!!!!!! Hope you have a great day Do you have anything fun planned for the day??
Ruth, I love Leslie- she is my go to walking friend for when I am too lazy to walk outside or just do not want to leave my home. Sounds like your driveway is a bit of a walk....but it would make an excellent milepost for you to start walking on. Did your new faucet arrive??
Well, got no idea what I am doing for Easter dinner. I earned a “free” turkey (or ham) at my grocery and will pick that up this am. Plus a few other things in case I end up entertaining , if Dd #2 and DSIL and I get together after church. Not sure yet about Dd#1 and her family. This am I am walking with my friend- even though its well below 30 degrees here. I am playing at the Good Friday service tonight, (just helping out with the hymns) and will have to practice a bit more sometime today. BBL
And once again, Happy Happy Birthday Phyl!
CJ- hope you have good weather and a wonderful day.

Good afternoon everyone and a very happy birthday to Phyl!!!
We got our warm days a little early. It was very warm yesterday and today is warm also. It's to be even warmer on the weekend. I don't think we'll be doing anything special on Easter. We do have a ham but probably will bake it late at night and then reheat to eat the next day.Don't want to heat the house up too much with the oven on. It seems funny to be saying that after the months of coldness.I see the neighbors on my other side are outcleaning up their yard. It's a woman who's son lives there with her. She's about 85 and her husband had a heart transplant many years ago and did extremely well after that until he developed esophageal cancer which he couldn't beat and did about3 years ago.
Today I'm going to do a little cleaning up and then tax but will also be thinking about what our Savior did today to save up for all eternity.
Ginny, what a blessing to have such a talent to play a musical instrument like that. I know your music is beautiful and I can hear in my head some ofmy favorite hymns being sung with piano and flute accompaniment

Ruth, it sure seems strange to hear that your weather is already that warm that you are concerned about heating up the house too much. But it must be reasonably warm if your neighbor is out clearing her yard. Things can get awfully messy outdoors after a breezy fall and winter storms. Are you expected to keep the warm weather for awhile? Yes, you’d better get those income taxes done....I know they have given an extension (or I thought I had heard about that) but its always a good idea to get them done so you do not have to worry about them. Did you get any cleaning done today??
So. Tonights hymns are Lead me To Calvary, When I Survey the Wondrous Cross and Oh Sacred Head Now Wounded.. (now Ruth can sing them to herself).
Had to un snag another banking issue - what a mess this bank change has been for me. Called DSIL in Florida to convince her (did not take much convincing) to not permit her sister to stay with her and DBIL in a few weeks. Her sister is careless with her attention to covid restrictions and DSIL is medically frail.
Hope that tomorrow I can get to some quilting. Ginny

Ginny, officially the high yesterday was 68 and today 71.It will be about that on the weekend but will cool some but still be in 50's and 60's with one day at 48 as the high and they say on that day it might snow a little in the am because we still are having cold nights Dh bought me a yogurt maker for Phyl's birthday . So I'm attempting to make some now.I'm not sure what to warm the milk to. All the directions say 180. Altitude affect boiling point but 180 should still be 180,right? We eat a lot of yogurt and it's so good for your intestinal tract. Yes definitely your sil should not allow people to stay with them because of her health concerns. That's why I told my brother that I would rather he not stop here for a few days while he was traveling from Calif back to NY.

Ruth, how nice of Dh to help us celebrate Phyl’s birthday by getting you a yogurt maker!! I would think that for the sake of making yogurt 180 would hold as the correct temperature. I don’t see how the altitude would impact the growth of cultures...but i could be wrong. Have fun with it! Do you like regular yogurt or Greek? My DSIL has emphysema- and her pulmonary specialist has pretty much told her to stay home a lot even though she and DBIL have been immunized. Thanks for your input on that (I really mean that !!) I speak very honestly to her, and she agrees with us...Thanks for sharing about your brother passing through. I might tell DSIL about your reaction to your brother passing through so she will know she is not the only one reacting that way..
Back in the 20’s for me tonight.....think we get warmer weather tomorrow. G

Yes since my dh also has emphysema and has diabetes and is considered obese he has a few factors so sure didn't want anyone travelling from Calif to come here.
