Happy Saturday all....
CJ- I wonder how many patterns you have stored!! The dish quilt pattern must be awfully cute- and i hope that you are successful in finding the pattern. That pattern could be the reason you head out to Joanns, gosh I can think of that pattern requiring a lot of different fabrics, depending upon how large a quilt it is. Hand quilting sounds like such a relaxing effort....and a nice way to finish a quilt. Years ago i hand quilted two pillows which were pre printed quilt fabric (Dresden plate pattern). It was fun, pretty and relaxing and the results were pretty good considering I had no directions or anyone telling me how to hand quilt. Do you make the bias seamed fabric for your quilt ? It takes a bit more fabric- have read from others that they prefer the result. Hope that the walkabout quilt is easy to finish and ready for quilting soon.
Not sure what today will bring. Got a lot of work to do around the house, just gotta decide which project to get busy with. G

Hello Everyone - Hope you are enjoying your day Ginny - Hope you were able to get your things done around the house. I have a lot of patterns - I couldn't believe how many when I started looking through them. They are so nicely organized, but the sad thing is that most of them don't even appeal to me anymore. I guess our tastes change. I did pull out 21 patterns that I may consider making or that the design looked like it would work well with a panel - since I have so many of those. I found that most of the quilts I liked (and saved patterns for) were mostly due to the fabrics used in them and I know they wouldn't look the same with different fabrics. I joined my border strips together today - I use the diagonal method to join them, I think it looks nice and I believe it's stronger than just sewing straight across. I'm going to have 3 borders on the Walkabout quilt - the first one is 1.5 inch strips, the second one is 2.5 inch strips and the third one is 3.5 inch strips. I was hoping I could get them sewn on today, but it's not looking like I'll be able to - so maybe tomorrow. Hope all of you are having a nice day and getting to do some crafting. Take care!

Well I'm late getting here but not because I was hard at work.I've been sitting crocheting trying to figure out how to make a certain hat but I ended up ripping it all out and went to one that I know I can make with a lot less stress. I couldn't bring myself to sew Yoda's parts together today so decided to do a hat today instead of tomorrow. Sunday is my hat day although some Sundays I don't get one made.
CJ, I had a book of patterns like that too only crochet patterns instead of quilts. I finally went thru it and pulled out and threw away all that I knew I would never use. I can't wait to see a picture of your walkabout quilt because I loved the ones I saw and I know your color choices seem to be some of my favorites so yours will be even prettier.
Ginny, did you get all the things done you had planned. I didn't but, God willing, there will be other days.

Good evening all,
CJ- I think as time goes by that as we take on different projects and realize that the quilt patterns that seemed impossible are now doable. In that transition more challenging or less basic patterns seem not so overwhelming. Am I making sense? And from looking at all the work others do- on blogs, FB pages...etc....it just opens horizons. Its impressive that you have come up with 21 patterns to “play with”. How many panels do you think you have- or do you have a count of them already?
Ruth, I have done the same thing, saved a bunch of crochet patterns. Then reality set in and I knew that I would never make them all, so I cleaned out a lot. Glad you took a break from Yoda. He sure is a cute little fellow, but sometimes its nice to work on a mindless project instead of a project that causes stress. It does not sound as though there is a huge rush on Yoda- were you able to get the hat done?
Got some of the dreaded yard work done. Got a ton more to do too. Dd came over and stayed for a few hours- we went for a nice walk and chatted about baby shower plans. Next weekend I really have to have my plans set, as the shower is in a few weeks. I did get to do a bit more free motion work this evening- my guess is I am approaching being a quarter done with the FMQ. Again its not close to being perfect, but is a great start for me to learn.
Hope Phyl has had a comfortable day and her back is not acting up.
Sue, we love hearing from you when you can check in....

Hello Everyone Ginny - Hope you get some time to relax later this evening, your life sounds like it's so busy! I'm glad to hear you are making progress on the free motion of your quilt. I have almost 40 panels - that's why I look for quilt patterns to use them with. Ruth - I did the same thing with patterns, that's how I ended with 3 large 3 ring binders full of patterns Hope your crocheting is going well today. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. It was interesting going through those patterns to see how techniques have changed over the last 10-15 years. Some of them were before we had the pre-cuts and special rulers. I was able to get the 3 borders sewn on the Walkabout quilt and I'm happy with how it turned out. It's a nice pattern that comes together easily. The only thing I would different if I made it again would be to cut my fabric for the half square triangles into 6 inch blocks instead of 5 7/8th inch blocks so they would be easier to trim down to 5 1/2 inches. Here are 2 pictures of the quilt, one is a closeup so you can see the fabric better. I couldn't get a good picture of the full quilt, since it's big and I don't have my design wall set up. Hope you all enjoy your day!

CJ,that is absolutely beautiful and the colors are perfect.I love it!!
I've been mostly straightening up of the dining room and clearing off the table.I had a lot of crochet items on it. I think that this evening I'll finish a hat I started awhile ago.Tomorrow I'll put Yoda together
I can't believe it'sSunday once again. Every week seems to go faster than the one before.
Ginny,Phyl, and Sue,I hope you are all having a good day and that You,Ginny, will find time to relax and do some enjoyable crafting.

I totally agree!! CJ- that quilt is beautiful!!! Love the colors and the fabrics
Ruth, well we all have to straighten up things from time to time...you can get your crocheting time in tomorrow. Best of luck getting Yoda together....I hope he goes together easily for you.
Yes, got some FMQ time in. Its going to take awhile, but I should finish it in a few weeks at the rate I am going at. Its a fairly large quilt, but the FMQ seems to flow when I get started.
See ya’all tomorrow. Ginny
