WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

K successfully closed midnight #42
C115D6, 12 purple points, 1201 calories, 73 grams protein, 23 grams fiber, no exercise (piano lesson).
I only gained a half pound yesterday after that lunch out. I attribute that to controlled eating before and after.

1925 calories 933 exercise calories 112g protein 33g fiber
I gave blood yesterday and Iβm amazed at how much more quickly it went after drinking a ton of water on Wednesday. Iβm hoping my recovery is smoother too.
Meg, my DH has a lot of weight to lose, and itβs worrisome to me because, like most men, itβs all in his abdominal area. I know this will come as a surprise, but nagging him hasnβt helped. Anyway, I understand. What great news that your daughter and SIL are in such a great place.
Nancy, I bet that 1/2 pound is gone already. Great stats, and you just keep rolling with K closed!
Lori, often times I will remove a lot of the frosting from a cupcake to bring calories down. Sooooo much sugar in it!

Yesterday, I had my whole day pre-tracked, then unexpected DH and I went to Mom's. DH had to fix a car issue. Luckily I had deviled eggs in the fridge so that was my late breakfast (11:30) - a sliced apple and baby carrots w/mustard were my snacks in the car on the way home. We picked up Chinese (it was going to be my late lunch when we got home) but decided to go for a walk since it was so nice out. When I got back (around 4:00) I felt like having a protein smoothie on the front porch. So the Chinese was my dinner and the egg roll was my treat. Since I was home and had the time, I dissected the Chinese food. I ordered steamed chicken and veggies (no rice, brown sauce on the side), egg drop soup and egg roll. I measured out 3 ounces of chicken and half the veggies - added cauliflower rice - used 1/4 cup brown sauce - whole egg roll 4 oz - 14g of fried noodles - 1 pkt duck sauce = 530 calories - saved the Meal, Mom's Chinese. So now, I know how to better track. 1500 calories add up quickly....
Nancy, You're doing Great!! HSM talks about delayed gratification. They suggest having a container available for unexpected treats. Plan your treat for the day - any other treat (like someone brought you candy or donut)- put in the container. Use positive take and tell yourself, you can have it - Your decision which treat you really want. You can save the other for tomorrow or decide you don't want it at all. Learning....
Jan, Great Stats!! I would normally remove most of the frosting but the smores cupcake had fudge and toasted marshmallow on top (I was just glad it was a normal size cupcake and not an oversized one....plus I have to say, it was worth the calories (surprised myself when I told DH he could have the other half)....
Meg, Wonderful that you have support on DD and DSIL...
Hope to BBL

Day 58. Rower done. Gotta start work.
Jan: Well, nagging has always worked with my DH. ;-) He has really taken to the YMCA and goes without me twice a week (plus racquetball twice a week). Much better than before! Re. cupcakes: the frosting is the only part I like!
Lori: Please make me some deviled eggs. I can never peel them right, but they're my favorite way to have eggs.
Later.
