WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C115D7, 1474 calories, 21 purple points, 90 grams protein, 48 grams fiber, twice around mall - ended the week with 12 negative weeklies and that's after using the activity points as well - that lunch out was the main, but not the only culprit - now I'm mindful to be more careful with the points next week.

So happy itโs Saturday! I woke up to the windows open with birds chirping snd hazy sun. So grateful weโve made it through the winter! Off-plan day today and possibly tomorrow. Iโm joining a friend for an early dinner, probably Mexican food.
Nancy, do you get extra points for maintenance?

Jan - I forgot about those extra points with maintenance. I'm not there yet but will definitely check it out. Thanks. Enjoy your relaxed weekend knowing that you'll be right back on track Monday.
Lori - Last Saturday 142 (140.9 moving average). Today 140.5 (140.4 moving average) Daily average calories 1390. So I'm thinking I should aim for 1350 this week. Agreed? I planned my day today. I'm excited that it left room for my protein shake which I'll sip throughout the day. Or maybe I'll have a creamsicle smoothie instead. TBD. You had an awesome week, treats and all. You've accomplished wonders these past few months. I hope you are extremely proud of yourself.

Day 59. Sleepover with tween GKs. I splurged and had ice cream sundaes with them after dinner. I'm not letting it get me off track, but I'm trying to learn NOT to make impulsive choices like that. So: learn, Meg.
Glad to hear y'all had a good week - inspiring for me, especially when you're able to go off plan (well, it's "planned" so that's maybe not the right term) and get right back to it. Kudos!
Racquetball shortly - yay! Are you tired of hearing about that? I think because I played so much from age 18-27 (pre-DH and with DH), perhaps it makes me feel young. Even though I move around the court pretty slowly.
Peace and gratefulness!

Meg - I love hearing about the racquetball. And to my way of thinking a sundae with DGKs is an NSV. Only when it leads to subsequent bingy behavior does it become an issue. If we can't have an occasional unplanned treat, we'll never stay with it. IMHO normalcy is the name of the game.

So ladies, I blended a cup of crushed ice with a premier protein shake and was disappointed. I mean it was okay but it kind of watered down the flavor. Live and learn. What did work, though, was something I read on the Internet somewhere. I took my salted caramel built bite and another time my cookies and cream built bite and microwaved it for 7 seconds. OMG delectable. Came out like warm chocolate lava cake also called molten chocolate cake. Yummy!! I'm sure Lori will add some cool whip and chocolate sauce or something. Try it if you haven't yet. You'll like (LOVE) it.

Nancy: Thanks so much for the encouragement. You're right about being able to have unplanned treats. I'm not there yet, but need to plan how to go off plan and yet stick to my plan. ;-)
Sad news: I twisted my knee playing racquetball, so I'm doing the ICE routine. Praying there's no big damage. We had so much fun though: we had 2 courts, 3 adults and 3 teens. Had some good games!
Best to all.

Meg - Oh no! That's what ended my racquetball career. I got hit in the face with a racquet. 18 stitches. I'm hoping the ice helps. Let us know, please.

Nancy, Awesome week! Shooting for 1350 sounds good! So far, we know you can go up to 1390 and still see a weight loss!! Knowledge is powerful!! Iโll be trying microwaving the built bite, sounds yummy and yes, if I have the calories, toppings will be added....lol
Meg, I love how you are working the program. You are fitting in what you want, not feeling deprived, and continuing on....Bravo!! I wish I would have learned how to do that during my weight loss phase.....grateful I finally learned!!! Love hearing about fun times with family!!!
Jan, Kathy and Louise - Hoping you all are having a Wonderful weekend!!

Lori - Just remember 5 seconds or at the most 7 otherwise it gets too soft - also microwave on a plate.
