WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Day 65. I've loose-goosey about every other day. Need to nip this in the bud and still plan in some treats.
Re. tracking days: I think I'd like to get a whole year under my belt: 365 days of tracking food, exercising, eating healthy, no unplanned treats. If this is the way I want to be forever, then I might as well just get to it.
Lori: Thanks for that info and link!
Peace to all.

Re. my knee: I wanted to try racquetball tomorrow, but it's not ready. So I will go along with the gang to the Y and spend time on the treadmill and weight machines, and be a racquetball spectator. Gotta be patient.

My experiment using the ww mini caramel instead of 1/2 hershey bar isn't working. The ww bar is too thick and overpowers the taste of the marshmallow. I will buy a hershey bar but will have to save the next smore til I can afford 195 calories and 9 points instead of 145 calories and 5 points.
Lori - I keep meaning to tell you how much I'm enjoying the cookie dough skinny syrup. I use 1/2 T in every cup of coffee and I use 1T in my chocolate smoothies which works so much better than the caramel.
Meg - My tracking challenge is approaching next weekend when both sons and two grandkids will be here - all meals will be eaten out. My plan is to be as sensible as I can while enjoying myself. I plan to write down every morsel and then do my best to track it all, using estimates in many cases, when I get home. These environments have always been bingy for me. It will be a huge NSV if I can reverse that tendency that weekend. Do you swim? I'd think that would be a good replacement exercise until the knee returns to normalcy.

Nancy: Have you tried a Lily's milk chocolate bar (or chips)? They're sweetened with Stevia. Some people don't like Stevia's taste, but I'm thinking with marshmallow and graham cracker, you may not even notice. Good luck with your big weekend. That's so exciting that you'll have so much family at one time! Re. swimming: meh. It's not my favorite, but I am a decent swimmer. But I read that the kicking action is not great for a knee injury. Maybe in another week.
G'night, all.

K successfully closed midnight #49
Lori - I tried something new with the cheesecake - I'll let you know tomorrow. I mixed it well but didn't put it in the blender and I added 2T whipped cream cheese - per Meg's suggestion. All along I've been counting each ramekin as 2 points. I just recalculated and OMG it should have been 4 points and the cream cheese made it 5 points. Shocking. Hopefully it will be worth it.
Meg - I never heard of the Lily's chocolate bar. The nutritional info is confusing because it seems the FDA updated it. All of the info is for 1/3 bar. Is the Lily's bar bigger than the Hershey's? Would 1/3 be enough for a smore. If you have one, could you please read me the calories, saturated fat, sugar and protein for a serving and the size of the serving? I see there's no added sugar which is probably what attracts you to it. The Stevia won't bother me. I'm surprised about swimming and the knee. I know someone with knee trouble. She's fanatic about swimming laps for that reason. Live and learn.
