WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Good morning. Thursday was on plan. I didn’t track yesterday, but I didn’t do horribly. I am much less likely to overindulge with sugar when I know the effects it has on both joint inflammation and hot flashes. I most likely won’t track today or tomorrow.
Meg, smart to avoid racquetball for another weekend. I think you’ll be surprised at how quickly a year of tracking goes by. I’m now 2 years into consistent counting and other than some weekends, I can’t imagine not doing it.
Lori, I made cake balls to send to my mom for her birthday. I used spice cake and cream cheese frosting with a hint of lemon added, and coated with white chocolate. The combinations are endless. DH loves German chocolate cake, I’m thinking I can do that with the traditional coconut frosting, and coat with caramel melting wafers (I think they have that flavor). They wouldn’t be smooth looking, but they’d sure be delicious :-)
Nancy, how wonderful to have so much of your family together! I think using a Lilly’s chocolate bar for your s’mores is a great idea.
Kathy, I hope your travels went well and you’re back home. Alma’s surgery is Tuesday, right? Loved the pic of her on facebook.

Happy Saturday! No WW barn meeting today, so instead, I’m driving to my Mom’s and taking her out for a nice lunch at a Bistro on a lake. Looking forward to it! Excited to be making plans for our Texas road trip...thinking April 28 to May 6....
Nancy, glad your enjoying the skinny syrup. They have so many different flavors - wish they had sample sizes. Try not to stress to much about eating out (you may just want to enter a guess of 1500 to 2000 per day) the main goal being keeping things in control - it’s the beginning of your week, I would make sure your set up for success Monday thru Friday and you’ll be fine...Enjoy your Family time!!! Hope you enjoyed the cheesecake - even though the points were different the calories were correct, right? I’ve been satisfied making it into 4 servings and fits nicely into my calorie budget. Interesting how you ended the week with unused weeklies but increased your calories - how was your avg calories and avg weight for the week?
Jan, Cake balls are everyone’s favorite and Yes, endless combinations! For Easter, I made the no bake peanut butter balls. Quicker and makes less - works well for DH. It’s great having so much data from tracking, isn’t it. This is the longest I ever tracked and I’m so glad I did. Makes it so much easier than when you first start out...
Meg, the pool would be great but you don’t need to swim. If the kids wanted a pool day, playing tag, jogging, hang out at the edge and bicycle...and if they have water aerobics - great exercise....just a thought...hope your knee is healing nicely
Kathy, hope your week went well and have a nice weekend ahead

k successfully closed midnight #50 (something of a landmark?).
Jan - More and more you seem to be tending toward normalcy. Impressive!
Lori - Last Saturday 140.5 (moving average 140.6) Today 138.5 (moving average 139.7) Daily average calories 1343
I want to convince myself the weekend isn't about the food. Whether good, bad or indifferent, I hope to write down (on phone) everything I eat outside of the home. Inside, I'll continue to track. My main object is to keep in control. I didn't realize your Texas trip is so soon. Exciting. I think I was basing the cheesecake points on Truvia instead of truvia blend. That and the cream cheese made the point and calorie difference. It was no better this way and no worse. I think I'll eliminate this in the future. I'd rather have a Premier shake - more protein, less points, similar calories and much more enjoyable. Mike just called. They're arriving late Thrusday night and flying out 3 PM Sunday. So two nice full days and maybe brunch on Sunday.

Kathy - Jan reminded us about Alma's photo on Facebook. Lovely! And kudos on her achievement.
Meg - as long as I was there I got to see your precious grandkids... the two little ones. Just adorable!!
Lori - The cheesecake was 3 points. I forgot the yogurt was a zero and the cream cheese added a point, so my original 2 pt calculation was correct.

I made a trip to Whole Foods today as I had other errands in the area. I’ve never been a huge fan, but I’m so glad I went! I got some coconut shrimp and salad fixings for dinner, a beautiful piece of wild caught salmon for tomorrow night, and a whole chicken for my family on Monday. I knew I was getting low on my protein powder so I went down that aisle. I found the store brand of Terra’s Whey. It’s $7 cheaper, has 3 more servings, 5g more protein, only 10 extra calories, and is loaded with BCAA’s. I made an orange cream smoothie when I got home and loved the flavor.
Meg, I finally tried the Baobab powder. Thank you so much for mentioning it! I read that it’s helpful for sufferers of asthma. Yay!
Kathy, praying for a smooth surgery and recovery. I had the same condition in my early 20’s but was able to treat it with medication.
Lori, your trip is fast approaching! How long is the drive?
Nancy, I so want to eat like a “normal” person. Ideally I’d like to track during the week, M-T or M-F, and eat reasonably on the weekend. The freedom from not tracking a day or 2 each week will work to my advantage if I can manage to not go completely off the rails.

Jan - Mike and Dana shop at Whole Foods. We don't have one in our area - not a Wegmans either. We do have a Trader Joe's. I love having my groceries delivered. I just told DH I'll probably continue after covid. It saves me so much time and the quality is unbelievably good. One of the stores texts me if anything is unavailable and gives me choices for substitutes which I can accept or refuse. And If anything is wrong or missing, I am credited without question. When that happens I usually find a friend that can use the item at no cost of course. Because of covid there are no returns, you just keep whatever it is and get the credit. I'm not sure how that will work after covid. Each store delivers every other week. Of course I go to the stores on occasion in between if anything can't wait. There's usually a prescription waiting at the same time. We've stopped having those delivered. I guess you'll be returning to Whole Foods after having such a good experience. I used to love going there with them when in Columbus.
