WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Good morning. After my run I think I’m going to take my bike to the trail. The Amish will be in church so I won’t have to worry about horse and buggies—they use a few miles of the path to avoid the roads. I haven’t been yet this season and I’ve missed it.
Nancy, I will definitely be making the trip to Whole Foods more often. It’s about 25 minutes away. There’s a Trader Joe’s nearby as well, and while I love their foods I get very frustrated by the number of people and frequently lose patience, especially now with a pandemic. Even with reduced occupancy inside it still seems crowded. I think grocery delivery is one of good the things that the pandemic has caused. It certainly has opened up new job opportunities for a lot of people.

Hi y'all. Day 67.
Nancy: I don't have a Lily's bar - my grocery store only sells the chips. To get the bar I have to go to Whole Foods or order online. Anyway, I find the chips more convenient. But I don't think the nutritional info is quite the same as the bar. Here's what's on the pkg. of milk chocolate chips, for 33 chips: 60 calories, 4 g fat, 8 g carbohydrate, 3 g fiber, 1 G protein. And btw they use erythritol as well as stevia. Hope that helps.
Have a great Sunday, all.

During yesterday’s car ride to Mom, I got to listen to the latest HSM podcast. Lots of good information regarding finding maintenance calories, how to take a deficit, exaplaing happy scale...etc. made the car ride go much quicker... Today got to visit with Great Nephew, 9 months, so darn cute...not sure if I mentioned, DH is going to be Godfather..he’s thrilled!
Nancy, Wonderful that your losing at 1350 calories...and doing so well with night time eating!!! Jan, hope you enjoyed the bike ride! Nice finds at Whole Foods! Nice that you have the option of so many stores....all the good stores are about 40-45 min drive... Meg, never heard of Baobab powder, I’ll have to look it up... Kathy, sending hugs and prayers that everything goes smoothly this week...

Jan - I didn't know there was an Amish community in Cleveland. Closer to us is the one in Lancaster, PA. I haven't been to Trader Joe's in a long time, but friends go there and again and again I hear how good they are during the pandemic. Few people at a time, well spaced, carts cleaned in between shoppers, etc.
Meg - They only had the milk chocolate chips where I shop for delivery. The bars are all dark chocolate which is not my preference. So this time around I ordered a Hershey bar. Have you used the chips for a s'more? If they work well, I'll try those next time. I might be able to get the milk chocolate bars at the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. Amazon has them but you have to buy 12. Thanks for the nutritional info. I'll be on the lookout for them.
Lori - I'm going to try to keep points and calories in check this week to offset Friday. Same thing the next week. Were you able to hold the baby?

Well, I really overate today. Feeling blah and disappointed, but wanting to seize this as a learning opportunity. I didn't plan well, our guests were late arriving so I was pretty hungry, and some other unexpectedness..... so I just ate whatever I wanted. Second helpings and lots of sweets, too. In the past this would have set off several days of kicking myself and overeating. I'd like to move forward - plan to start fresh and do what was working before.
Nancy: I don't like s'mores (the marshmallows - yuck), so I can't speak to that. I use the milk chocolate chips as a little snack mixed with a few nuts. (I might need to kick that habit; we'll see.). The dark chocolate chips (not my favorite either) I melt with a little cocoa butter to drizzle over these coconut Mounds-type things I make. Sugar free but high in fat. I have one for dessert, once a day. So delicious.
Peace to all.

Meg - It's gonna happen. So now you got it out of the way and will start fresh tomorrow "a new day, fresh with no mistakes in it" Every time I have a long string of good days, I start to think that binging was a thing of the past. NOT!! So don't beat yourself up. It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last. Why is it we obsess over the one bad day and give ourselves little credit for the 67 good ones? Human nature, I guess.
