WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

Good morning. I had another untracked but controlled eating day yesterday. I got 7 miles in with the dog in the morning, then went to the trail for 23 miles. They’ve added a connector to another section of trail that goes almost up to Lake Erie, so that will be a goal sometime this summer. I’m guessing it would be about 40 miles total. I’ve only ridden that distance once.
Nancy, I know 40 miles is nothing for your son! I get very antsy after about 30 miles, and that seat gets very tiny and uncomfortable. We have a small Amish community nearby, then they’re scattered throughout with a much larger (I would say more commercialized, but that’s a bit of an oxymoron) community south of us. I was watching for outhouses yesterday. I’d never noticed them, but there they were. Funny, they can have cell phones but not indoor plumbing.
Lori, 9 months old, the perfect baby age!
Kathy, thinking of you and Alma today.
Meg, days like you had yesterday happen. It’s all good. Hopefully you can shake it off and get back to business today. BTW, I’ve been listening to a couple of Anne Lamott books on my runs. Not your typical Christian author, but encouraging, uplifting, and entertaining and a great way to start my days.

Day 68. Starting strong - everything is planned. Blood sugar is up, so there's another reason to eat well today.
Nancy: Thanks so much for your encouragement!
Jan: Thanks, too, for your kind words. I've read some Anne Lamott years ago, but don't remember which titles. Re. 40 mile bike ride: seat becoming tiny and uncomfortable - that happens to me after a mile!
Kathy: praying for a successful and trouble-free surgery today, and for peace for all.

Kathy, thinking of you and Alma!

This short video from Half Size Me (yesterday's) was really so good. She talks about when the excitement is gone and you're left feeling MEH about doing everything you know you need to do. Lots of good, simple wisdom. "I am not excited or motivated any more." www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBRza30_jRU I'm saving this one somewhere so I can listen to it as needed!

Bad day in the food department today. I got up very very early and had a very early breakfast. By 11 ish I was famished so treated myself to a slice of 647 and a string cheese. Spent a lot of time watching the closing Floyd arguments and gave in to 2 Kedem tea biscuits and a SF fudgsicle. Then came my Shoprite order with the hershey bar. Bad idea. It led later on to a s'more. Yikes! My plan was for 1243 calories and 12 points. That has now become 1658 calories and 27 points. Not a binge, since every morsel is accounted for but dumb nonetheless. This was the first mishap in quite a while. Well... it was bound to happen.
Jan - I'm with Meg. The seat used to get to me after a mile or so <g>
Lori - What a thrill to hold and cuddle the baby. My arms will be around Hudson for sure. I can't wait!
Kathy - Hoping with every fiber of my being that things went well today and that Alma will feel the benefits sooner rather than later. Let us know please.

Ladies - I'm calling this a binge. And I think I need to take a break. I've learned what I need to do, and I will get right back to it after this weekend. I'll speak to you all on Sunday night. I'm not planning on a week of binging but I just want to take a break from tracking and all that. If I change my mind, I'll let you know. I'll check in to see how you're all doing and especially to see how Alma made out. Hopefully it will be good news. Now that I think of it, I'll write down everything I eat all week. That way I'll have the information in case I decide to track it and maybe it will keep me somewhat on the straight and narrow. Have a great week everyone. I'll be thinking of you.
