CJ- it does sound as though your strategy for the jelly roll race quilt should work out- I have seen some pictures of them and the random nature of where that white square should work out fine. It will be a fun and quirky quilt....if you were needing a fabric for a backing, I am sure that a nice tonal fabric would work, just pick out a color that either picks up or harmonizes with the top. You have a good eye for fabrics and should be fine. And if the quilt top turns out crazy it will be all the more fun! I wonder what size quilt it will be.
Got a bobbin sewn and made 5 more. Think tonight I am going to look at my free motion book and watch a movie. It was cold and rainy here today, same weather as CJ. Yes, I turned on the heat. Also did some yard work, which honestly just seems to be endless. Dd #1 came over today with the kids, except for DGS#1 who had a birthday party to attend. They stayed for dinner (take out) and it was a pleasant afternoon. The little ones were silly, but then that is what little ones do.
Have a good evening! Ginny

Ruth, this is not the first time where we have posted at the same time.....do the cowboy boots take much time? Do not blame you for not wanting a crooked one- but we know you are hard on yourself and pick up slight imperfections. I am sure they are adorable. Nice job getting the hat done also. Was the shark applique challenging to make? Tomorrow is another day to complete that project. Nice that you have the pocket shawls to return to for variation in what you are working on.

Yes it's always nice when a person puts their own ideas into a project such as a quilt. It makes it unique and has your own special touches.
Small children are just so cute and do such adorable things...well then they also can get into mischief ...but the still are fun to be with especially if they're your own grandchildren.
I did go ahead and sewed on the eyes and gills on the shark applique which is easy to make and then I sewed it onto the blanket so that's all done. They were a bunch of ends I needed to weave in on the blanket part so that's done too so the whole set is finished. Well the whole set is comprised of only the blanket with applique and the little stuffed shark. I have that other set to complete which has a blanket, sweater, hat, scratch mittens and I want to make a little pair of socks to go with that. The cowboy boots are not part of any set really but are a cute gift once I make the new one that isn't crooked. No, they don't take long at all to make so I might as well do it.
It's raining here right now too. Usually it looks like rain and it doesn't actually rain but now it is and as they always say here "we need the moisture"

Happy Mother’s Day!!! We have a special little group here (to which any visitors are welcome!) where we kind of mother each other- even though we are all adults. So glad each of you is here and am thankful for the positive influence you are in my life.
Ruth, wow. My head is spinning. I had no idea that you were making an entire set of a sweater, hat, scratch mittens and socks. Such a sweet project for sure. And its a pretty funny read that you are sewing on the eyes and gills of a shark . Hope that you might post a picture of the shark set.
Got some reading in in my free motion book. After my shower I will check that out again. From what I am reading so far, the author has gone through the supply list and is pretty much encouraging the quilter to sit down and start practicing. So that is what I am doing.....her work is beautiful. Guess there is some hope for me. Ginny

Happy Mother's day to all the mothers and, as Ginny said, we do all mother one another. It's a pleasant day here but on the cool side. I have no plans of going anywhere. Right now I'm waiting for my cinnamon roll dough to rise.

Hey Phyl- sounds like you are getting a good weekend of Red Pines, which sounds like a great place. Do you get the same entree each time you go there or do you vary what you get? I know for some restaurants, one entree is so very good that I hate getting something else!! Hope you have a wonderful time there and it is not too crowded.
Ruth, hope those cinnamon rolls came out great! My gosh they smell amazing when in the oven. How do you manage to make them and not gain weight?
At some point over the weekend I saw my 3 kids. Indeed blessed....the weather here is cool and rainy. I sat out for awhile under the gazebo, it was rainy and chilly- but still nice to see the birds and hear their happy chirping. Got to look at a bit of my free motion book. Got so much to learn but practice is really the most important.
Hope everyone had a pleasant day and got some crafting in And yes tomorrow is Monday once again. Wasn’t it just Monday yesterday? Sure feels that way. Ginny
