Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post

NEW CHALLENGE
CARING April 5 - July 4
“Your body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care" - Buddha
This challenge is about caring about and for yourself. So often we get caught up in taking care of everyone else that we don’t give ourselves the care we need. Or we give up caring about ourselves. A variety of reasons and for no reason, it just happens. The hard part is to recognize it and once you do, it is hard to explain because very few want to acknowledge it. You get kudos for taking care of others, not so much for taking of yourself. Not caring about yourself can leave an emptiness that you may try to fill with food and alcohol. The emptiness remains, just stuffed down. We want and need more for ourselves. So let’s begin!
Treat yourself the way you’d treat someone you love.
Love yourself first and the rest will follow.
Focus on health and well being
So how do you begin to care about yourself?
Eating fruits and vegetables sounds like a plan. So does drinking water!!
Walking up a flight of stairs without gasping for breath. Your heart will thank you.
If you don’t want to be AF then restrict the amount and limit the days you will allow yourself a drink. But remember if 10 is not enough, one is too many.
Start with baby steps. Making too many changes at once can be discouraging so start small. Have you been slacking on flossing daily? Then start making it a ritual. Do you drink soda for energy? Start cutting back by one.
Treat yourself to something you enjoy. Buying the store brand face cream will sit on the counter. If you have a favorite, budget it in as a necessity….better than buying alcohol! Maybe getting a manicure or pedicure is important to you yet you deny it for yourself. Ask yourself why.
Make a list of indulgences that aren’t food or alcohol and start sprinkling them into your life.
Ask for what you need. Too many times we get into a funk and we don’t ask for help. You are loved and we want to help each other.
Curb all the justification. Sometimes you just have to do something because you want to do it. You don’t have to explain yourself!
Think of your successes….add three things that went well today to your daily journal. What?? you aren’t journaling? Journaling is caring!
LET THE CARING BEGIN!!

HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY

Good morning all! I've been to pick up my grocery order and got everything put away. I've got about an hour before going to get my nails done so I'm just having some coffee and have a quiche cooking. I found a website for cooking for 1 and that's where I got the recipe. It's really enough for 2 breakfasts and it is yummy! I'll be back later this morning. Murphy

April 5 - July 4 April 5 start weight: 194 What it showed this morning! April 12: 193.1 April 19: 193.5 April 26: 195 Exactly where I was last year! May2: 193.6 May 9: May 16: May 23: May 31: June 6: June 13: June 20: June 27 July 4: Good Happy Monday all. New week to make some goals and get some things done. It's still gray this morning from storms last night and I think it's supposed to stay that way today. A few items on my list today is going to the Camera store to have them look over my equipment and see if I have anything worth selling. I'd like to have one good all purpose camera instead of 3 of different sizes and weights. See what happens. DH has to go argue with the PO, he tried to mail some car parts to England and they came back not enough info on customs description... He's already paid a chunk for the box so better not charge him again to change the name to carburators or whatever they need. Then we'll go together to Lowes or somewhere to pick out some shade of whiteish paint for the basement. I'm thinking of making a Jambalaya for dinner, see how motivated I am in the late afternoon Haven't heard from the car guys in a few days. I did bring them an ad from Milwaukee with a good price that they said they'd match but they had said they couldn't hold the financing part from before if Subaru made a change. I think they still have some low financing, it's just for a shorter term. I'll make it work. I'm also looking at some cabins, after Barb mentioned that, in Gatlinburg for a few nights for our trip. I'd love to be there with the kids the whole time but can't see myself roughing it on the ground with my hip and if it rains...ugggh. Maybe camp two nights and cabin 2 nights. We'll see what prices and availability are. Hope you all have a great week Jan Cathy Sounds like the girls are still enjoying their swimming. Glad you talked to all of the family. The scale will move in it's own good time, you sounds like you have a plan and know it's tricks. I'm still double tracking but can't see myself doing it for long. I will need some good reinforcement on the scale this week to encourage me to continue!! Our only "predators" here would be cars, can't imagine a snake that big...yuck. Yes, Finn is fixed, chipped, has all his shots and it just a stubborn teenage boy!! Cindy I had hoped the Edsels had finally gone away, oh boy, hope you have better luck this time. Sorry about the standing water and trying to find the right drill!! We did have a young neighborhood officer say cats should be contained or on a leash but I asked the humane society, petco etc if they'd ever heard that and no one had. I understand people's worry, they are more afraid of the cat getting stolen or hurt outside. Just funny the cat personalities. Scout is content to be inside, lays on the porch or in the backyard, Finn is a whole different temperament. Yet Finn is too friendly with others and let's them pick him up, and Scout runs away. GG What's on the plan for this week? Have you had a pretty good OP week? I love that the piano player yesterday was one of your former students. How was Rylee when she was just with you? Murphy Good for you bringing your sandwich half home for dinner I'm sure I would have eaten everything. Glad you could get out with friends. What kinds of plants will Judy try in her new pots? Yay for getting pretty nails today. Amy Did you get in a walk yesterday? Cory just can't be caught on the weekends!! Have you cooked out on the grill yet on the new patio? DH used the smoker yesterday for a tri tip and it was so yummy. First day I put on shorts, only showed those white legs in the back yard tho Hope you got the rain you needed. Enjoy your day. Hi to all. GOing to get some breakfast, shower and get a move on. Will check in later.

Labor of Loving yourself first! April 5 - July 4
April 5 start weight: 176.9 April 12: 177.5 April 19: 177 April 26: 177.2 May2: 177.5 May 9: May 16: May 23: May 31: June 6: June 13: June 20: June 27 July 4:
It was a nice day, even though I spent most of it inside resting. I napped off and on, Feeling better today. I had difficulty falling asleep, then heard Bill puking on our bedroom carpet about 2:30, then the rain and thunder shortly before 5. There may be another nap for me today.
It's gray and dreary with occasional thunder, hoping to get a window where we can go walk. We've got two tiny green tomatoes on our porch plant and some tiny nubs on a couple of the pepper plants- so exciting!
Murphy- Yay for lunch with the ladies, doing some sewing, finding recipes for one. Could you get a sewing machine cover? Mine has been set up in the craft room since we moved in, haven't used it once, but at least it's covered. I have my mom's old cover made out of pillow ticking.
Jan- WTG AF101, steps, blue dot. Hope you get some $$$ for your cameras. I didn't make much of an effort to catch you or Cory yesterday. We regretted letting Annie be an indoor/ outdoor cat since she eventually was all outdoor except for the garage. At least our Florida neighbors didn't seem to mind and no one felt the need to rescue her. It's funny how cats have different personalities. We decided to leave our grill on the front porch, since it's closer to the kitchen and we don't have to deal with going up and down the basement stairs.
GG- Yay for beautiful weather yesterday and fun with family. WTG getting a blue dot.
Cindy- WTG making your porch more inviting. Glad you got some sun. Hope the auger helps with the drainage and the Edsels get a new home soon.
Cathy- WTG tracking, staying positive, the scale will start moving again soon. Congrats to DGD's for qualifying for the swim meet.

Hi again! Got my nails done. The gal who had done them the last 2 times isn't there anymore but the girl who did them did a wonderful job. Got home and packaged up some of the stuff I picked up from the grocery store to put in the freezer. I've been trying to stock up on meats that I can put in the freezer because I think food prices in general are starting to go up and I only see that getting worse. I'd rather buy things now when I can afford them!
Cindy - in all of your post, what I zero'd in on was the possibility of a snake on the porch! LOL. I would be a basket case and would never go on my porch again if I saw a snake! LOL. I hope you are able to get the auger figured out or that DS will get it done. We've got rain here too.
Amy - I don't really have any place that I could leave the sewing machine out. If I didn't have the keyboard set up in the guest room, I could use that area. But honestly, I don't use the sewing machine except for repairs on clothes. So even though it's heavy and pain to drag out, I guess it's better just leaving it in the closet. A craft room sounds so divine! LOL
Jan - hope you have good luck with selling some of the camera equipment! And I sure hope that DH is successful dealing with the PO!
We are supposed to have storms on and off all day today and tomorrow. In fact, there is thunder rumbling right now. So I'm going to get off the computer just in case of problems. Hope everyone has a great rest of your Monday! Murphy

Hi!
We are having a terrible storm...under a tornado watch....I think I should have brought things onto the porch but too late now. Tried opening the door and though I could, the wind was way too strong to force the effort.
Orchid bloomed!
Will check back in the AM
Hugs, Cindy

We are having a bad thunderstorm right now. The thunder has been rolling for over an hour! It even woke me up. The power has been going on and off so I thought I would check in while I have power. Hopefully it will pass and I can check back later. Murphy
