Thanks for the start, Karen. Sorry to hear you are losing your secretary but you found a good one fast. Did the fertilizer arrive today? Iggy liked the haircut he just wasnât expecting short short. Congrats on the new bests in Osteo. Your plan ks working.
We got red, pink, orange zinnias and white begonias to plant in pots. It was so crowded at the garden center we didnât stay long enough to hunt down the marigolds. The aisles are narrow and people were there for motherâs day, so it was hard to stay distanced.
Linda, I wonât need surgery per the retina specialist but if the floater is making it impossible for me to function they can fix it. It seems to be diminishing slowly and I am not keen on surgery if I can avoid it. Were I a snowbird I would be gone at 90°. âşď¸ I wilt in the high heat. Our spring festivals were all cancelled but the Downtown Sidewalk Sale is going on.
Becky, we havenât even got our tomato plants from Burpee yet. Honestly, I donât know why Iggy had me order all the plants online. We could have gotten them locally at the garden centers or even Kroger or Loweâs.
Kathy, if Florida is all opened up people are probably going back to the grocery stores themselves. You wear contacts, donât you? Or am I mistaken?
The optical store was heaven. Many different frames. No designer frames which is okay by me. I never wore them anyway. We got four pairs of no line bifocal glasses for half the price one pair would have cost at the optometrist. Iggy just needs a minor long distance correction in one eye and reading corrections. He got a pair of sunglasses and a pair for reading indoors. I got a pair with clip on shades and another pair with transition lenses. I almost skipped back to the car I was so happy with the price. If I had a tail I would be wagging it. It should take 10-14 days to get them.

Chele, you got a lot at the garden center for not staying very long. At least you got zinnia. Butterflies and bees also love zinnias. I brought a lonely one home from the sale that something had been chewing on, so I'm going to try to nurse it back to health. Probably better for a stray plant to follow me home than a dog or cat. If you go to YS tomorrow, maybe someone there will have marigolds. What's the status on new eyewear? Do you want to have surgery? Would that resolve things more quickly? Dale said the fish tacos were good. He finished the rest of what I made for dinner last night. Now I just need to remember what I used in the marinade so I can replicated it for the rest of the fish I have thawing. I stuck with FF vegetarian refried beans for mine. The fertilizer did arrive today and the first day of conditioning (fertilizer and water soaking) is done. Eleven more days to go. Tomorrow is just watering. Sorry your spring festivals got canceled.
I think graduations with virtual families is the way of the world this year, Linda. UT is doing their graduation at the 107K seat football stadium instead of the 25K seat indoor arena. I don't know how well a lot of people will be able to see their graduate, but at least they will be there. A lot of the high schools are also graduating on their football fields this year, which is different for them. Good job on the new draperies. I guess Penney's is still one of the only places you can see a selection of window dressings. Did the clink, clink, clink of the hem weights put you to sleep? It would have done that to me. Did you hear that a vaccine researcher from TX is now the target of the anti-vaxxers and they posted his name and contact information on social media and he is now getting threatening emails and texts? What won't the far right do these days? Sorry the allergies are being difficult for you. But a non-productive day for you is a rarity, so enjoy, even if it's not your choice. Congrats to Bob on passing the stress test. Fresh tomatoes are amazing. I'm glad you are having some and I hope you get more than the birds do.
Kathy, did I see that you're having a comfortable, springlike day? Did DN get his 2nd shot this week? Any plans for a family gathering?
Is the fence fixed, Becky? Are the new calves growing faster than the Dusty Millers? How are your foot and ITB?
Liz and Denise, it's Friday. I hope you both have enjoyable weekends.
We had a pretty brisk number of sales going on at the plant sale this morning. Everything was on BOGO and we probably had a good $200 in sales in just the couple of hours I was there. The craft vendors were coming in early to buy their plants and taking them to their booths to sit under their tables. I got in over 6K steps in those couple of hours and am now well over my 7.5K goal for the day. After my long day yesterday, it took a lot out of me and I'm fighting to stay awake until bedtime.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele I'm glad Iggy likes your cut. Mine is really short. When I told her a summer hair cut she took me at my word I guess. Our nursery is always busy. That is what I'm afraid of. We plan to go to Walmart's garden center as I need a few other things too and if I don't find anything I want to go to the nursery which will probably be packed. The parking lot isn't very big. I wonder why Iggy wanted to order online also. We got ours at the local nursery because they were cheaper than Lowe's or anywhere else. Kenneth got 3 large tomato plants and I picked out 3 cherry tomato plants. I also bought cucumber seeds at Walmart but didn't think they would do well so I found a burpless cucumber plant at the nursery and planted that also. I have one yellow bloom that looks like a flower on one cucumber plant and it's forming a vine. The ground is still too cool at night for them to have actual fruit on them. Here a lot of people used curbside or delivery at HEB but most people are back shopping. Walmart is finally offering curbside and I think some people are doing that but we would rather go shopping in the stores. Today was the first time this week HEB was busy this week on any day we have been there this week. That probably means Walmart will be crowded this weekend. If I find anything in the garden center I can get checked out by a cashier instead of using self checkout.
Karen That was last weekend they fixed the fences. Some calves are growing fast. The oldest one would make a good bull but we don't need 2 bulls and Kenneth is talking about selling the cattle in November. They can be pain at times. We will lease out a pasture if we end up doing that. One of the Dusty Miller's is doing great. I'm getting new petunia blooms every day and the new blooms have white specks on them and look beautiful. Did you hear about Sam Ehlinger's younger brother dying? One of my nephew's wife works at U of Texas and was just named to the top 10 in her field. She majored in communications. She deals with language of the brain and how the brain works in kids and adults. I was talking on the phone with the former pastor's wife because she has more jewelry in that I ordered and since she works in the engineering department at UT(although working from home now) and she looked up my nephews wife. She is extremely smart. She has her masters and doctorate degree she got at UT. My brother was so proud of her he shared it on Facebook.

Karen, we had a really nice day today with a nice breeze and clear skies. DN got his 2nd shot last week, so he will be good to go when his job starts next week. Most of the work will be remote, but he may have to go onsite occasionally. That's great that the plant sale went so well.
Chele, I wear contacts, but still need glasses for when I'm not wearing the contacts. I usually go a long time between getting new pairs of glasses since I rarely wear them outside of the house. Congrats on scoring new glasses at such a great price and lol on wagging your tail.
Linda, that's great news on Bob's stress test. The "audit" situation is scary and you're right that they want to bring this to other states. Meanwhile, we had the Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene show in The Villages.
