Ginny, I meant to say that I'm glad you were able to get 8 whole hours of sleep. Sleep becomes difficult once we get older. At least that's been my experience. Plus this past year has not been a great one for you so you've had a lot on your mind. I hope you can get some good sleep tonight also
CJ, sorry about your greens not working well together. I know you will put in a perfect one. I went to the links you posted and the quilts are really pretty. My favorite on the second site is the flying geese. For some reason, ever since the first time I saw them, I've been partial to them.
Well the crystal waves blanket is now a couple balls of yarn. I never seem to learn. I held it up today to see how large it was and found a glaring mistake right in the middle.this is the second time recently that I've found out late in the game that I made a mistake that couldn't be ignored. I've been tempted many times to rip it out and start over with a larger hook but didn't want to waste all the time I've put into it so the mistake gave me a good excuse.. It will be further down my list now though since I'm not planning to give it to anyone right now. I'll do the things I need to get done and try some of those Daisy Farm blankets I like so much but first will make the remaining two pocket shawls and start the spider man blankets.Since I'm making the pocket shawls for the two girls I'll also have to make blankets for their "sweeties" Oh and actually I have another Crystal Wave blanket in progress so I'll work on that one while watching tv or whatever

Ruth, that is sad that you found such a glaring error in the crystal waves afghan Sounds like a good game plan to find a new blanket on that Daisy farm site and make that instead. No sense working on something that is angering you- this is supposed to be for pleasure, isn’t it? Did not know that you were working on another crystal wave blanket....hope that that one is coming together fine!!!
Sleep? An awful night is less than 5 hours. A normal night is a little bit over 6 hours and if I get 6 hours and 45 minutes of sleep its a good night. Been that way for a long time. I do find that my very busy days usually help me sleep better, and of course its from exhaustion. My fitbit tells me how I have slept- and does the math for all the time spent in bed which might not have been sleeping.
Worked this am- and was standby so no active driving. A pleasant morning for that and it was not too cold, so I could just sit and not be freezing.
Got some yard work and housework to do. See ya later G

Yippee skippee!!!!! CDC just announced that fully vaccinated individuals do not have to wear masks. Anywhere (unless, if I understand correctly, you are in small quarters like a plane, train or bus).

I can't believe it took them this long to decide that those that are fully vaccinated don't need to wear masks. Of course, if it's a good vaccine why would you have to. Unless they were skeptical about the vaccine. I did recently hear of an elderly woman in Nebraska that was fully vaccinated that did end up contracting covid and dying from it. They did admit though, that she had other issues.
Just got back from another stressful shopping trip. I'm sure with you CJ...I don't like going at all.
Got some things to do so will be back later.

well I didn't get anywhere near all the things done that needed done but there's always tomorrow
Yesterday evening I saw a couple stitches new to me that I thought I would like to use in one of the pocket shawls. Well they were both videos and very poor ones. One woman kept saying "oops I did that wrong" and "oh I got off track again. What did I do wrong" so that one was confusing. I do think I got it figured out but decided not to use either one. Instead I went to a blog where I know here patterns are good and accurate but I did find she had a typo on the pattern I am using where she said to sc when it was pretty obvious that it really was supposed to be a dc.Luckily you could see that in teh pictures.Still, someone new to crochet would have been thrown completely off track. So that's what I'm working on and I really want to start a blanket too.
I hope you all had a lovely day. see you tomorrow

Ruth, so sorry that your shopping trip was stressful- yes they can really get to you. Its good news that in many circumstances mask mandates can be dropped or amended. Of course my governor has not decided to accept the advice from the CDC- he is much smarter than everyone else, you know. Cough cough. I give you a ton of credit for taking on another new shawl pattern. So glad you have the experience to see where she made a mistake and were able to adapt. That would annoy me a lot. What is the new blanket you want to work on? Do you have a new pattern to try?
I do have to run to the store in a bit to get cat food. Walmart was out of it the other day, and the other store can be hit or miss, so I will venture to the one store which usually has it. BBL- and am looking forward to a nice weekend!

I hope you're able to find the kitty food. Do your cats prefer one brand over another or do you pick them out according to how healthy they are for the cats. I know my sister in law used to buy special cat food from the vet.
Yes I have to do two more shawls...like it or not. I gave all the other "girls"...adult and child a shawl but put these two off because they live in Montana and weren't here for Christmas (although the "Christmas shawls" weren't delivered until March I think. The one I'm working on first is coming right along and won't take much time I don't think. The second one I have to look through my online list and see what one I want to make.

Well Ruth, the way you work on things two more shawls should not take a lot of time as long as the instructions are good. That is encouraging that the first shawl is coming along well.. I can imagine your online list is insanely long- you are always investigating more and different patterns. Very impressive for sure. Yes, I got the cat food for the older cat. The kitten is easy to feed, but the older cat is a bit fussy. I do get her pricey food from the vet, but she likes some variety, so I found some pricey food from the supermarket that she will eat. She is old......might as well enjoy her while she is still with me!!!

I haven't done any crafting yet today except for more pumpernicle bread and some more cinnamon rolls. You asked how I could eat them and not gain...well that's hard for me because I'm a terrible binge eater and could eat the whole recipe myself in a couple hours so I really have to control myself and eat a half one or maybe two. My dh probably shouldn't be eating them but he eats the rest after my one. It doesn't seem to raise his blood sugar but if we ever get back to the doctor we'll see how his A1c turns out.
I'm going to finish the cowboy boot that I got done last weekend but wanted to save it to sew the band and star on today as it's mine and many others finish it day.I'll find a couple other things to finish also then get back to this shawl.I'm making this one in Sprightly yarn in ecrue... it's the yarn I got with the Christmas tree skirt pattern kit. It's acrylic with 20% wool so will be a little warm but not oppressingly hot

Hey Ruth, think the shawl in ecru will be stunning- I tend to like ecru because it goes with almost any other color and looks great. I knew you would find another use for the yarn from the christmas tree skirt pattern. Were you able to finish the cowboy boot?? I too am a binge eater and its been a bit of a problem recently for me. I get plenty of activity- but have to stop the mindless eating. Think I have gained about 5 pounds, which I am not pleased about.
Got good news from Missouri, and that the baby quilt has shipped!!! I have the tracking number but its not in Fed Ex’s system just yet. I am hoping that it will be back here in a few days.

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that the quilt is on it's way home. I know you can't wait to see it quilted. I hope they did a great job. Your dd will be thrilled to have it ready for the baby's arrival.Yes this ecru does go well with everything. I'm not sure if this one will go to my grandaugter or my grandson's "partner" ( a girl) and am undecided on what yarn to use for the other one. Still haven't sewn on the band or star to the boots yet. I should go up and get it so that I don't have an excuse for not finishing it. I did get the yarn out for the hat I'm going to make this Sunday.

Will you be taking on a new hat pattern for your Sunday hat creation? Do not think you can go wrong with ecru for pretty much anyone- its much more versatile than white. Now I like white but it is even prettier in spring and summer with the brighter colors that you wear. Most would not use a pocket shawl in summer here in North America. So you have time to make your latest creations. For your sake, I hope that you got the band and star on the cowboy boots. Its just nice to get a project like that done and check it off your list.
Thinking of CJ and the weather. I took a look at my weather for the next week and saw “80” for two or three days- actually for 5 days. Yuck. I know its not CJ’s kind of weather either. Here we could use some rain too. Guess its all in God’s timing. And I will try to enjoy the next few days which will be more comfortable before the hot weather starts.
DD is heading over today. Will be good to see her. Hard to believe that her little one is due in a few short weeks. Ruth, any news of your next DGGS???
Phyl- hope you are feeling well....we miss hearing from you.
Sue- how are you doing?

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm happy to hear your quilt is on the way back from MSQC. I look forward to hearing how it looks. Hope you have a good time with your DD today. Ruth - Your bread and cinnamon rolls sound good, hope you enjoy them. I also hope you get to work on those projects. I still think those cowboy boots are so cute! Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing well The weather here has been pretty nice. I'm not looking forward to warmer weather I couldn't find any fabric that would go well with those shoofly quilt blocks I made. Those blocks are in a dark green and cream fabric and every other fabric I tried to pair them with all I could see were the shoofly blocks - they just stand out. I think I'd have to have a really bright and busy fabric to offset the blocks, or else figure out something else to do with them - maybe just find a fabric to sash around each block. So I just put them away for right now. I also cleared a few other things off the table in my sewing room, and I pulled out the mystery quilt blocks since the last clue for that came out yesterday and I'm ready to put the 4 blocks together. If I really like how they turn out I might make some more blocks since I have enough fabric to do that and then it could be larger than just a table topper. I'll have to see. Here's a link to the last clue: frommycarolinahome.com/2021/05/14/scrap-dance-pachanga-step-9-and-reveal/I do like the quilt design and the way it forms the crossed lines. I just really have a problem working on scrappy projects - I don't find them enjoyable so I need to try to avoid them in the future Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend and enjoy it

CJ, I'm sorry you weren't able to find a fabric that you thought would work well. You are so creative that I know you'll find a solution. I went to that link. I didn't really love the blocks but in the reveal picture, after they were all put together it was really nice esp they part when they form the crossing lines. Of course food grabbed my attention and I wondered that that was in the upper left of the picture. It kind of looked like a piece of pie. I wonder what it is and if pie, what kind
Ginny, have a great day with your dd. Yes these babies will be here soon. I think my dggs is due in just a little over two weeks.Already my dgd is saying she can't wait until he's grown a little and can do things. She'll be changing her mind once he's here and wish he would stay a newborn longer although with the frequent feeding a newborn needs, she might not.
It was very misty and cloudy here until just a few minutes ago but now the sun is getting through and it's warmed some I'm sure. I don't know what the week ahead is going to be like but there probably will be some hot days in there.

Nice visit with Dd today- she left a little bit early, but it was good to see her.
CJ- now I am about to enter into a scrappy project- once I finish the falling charms quilt and the baby quilt (and then get my machine serviced!) I have a scrappy project planned. Looking at the link from my carolina home, that project would have a completely different look if it were done using a white background fabric instead of the black. Just my thoughts and I am no expert on quilts and use of color. think its a great idea to put the shoo fly blocks away for now. You will be able to a fabric that works for you in due time. Perhaps you just need not to look at the blocks for awhile. Enjoy the cooler temps while we have them.
Ruth, got a feeling when DGD finds out how very quickly babies grow up and how fleeting infant hood is she might feel differently. Hard for me to believe that DGS#2 will be walking within 2 months - and he is not a year old yet (will be in July). Babies grow so quickly. Now I know you like hot weather, so you are probably happy that warmer temps are heading your way. Hope you had a good day.
Ginny
