Good Afternoon Chicks,
Quick hello to all and here's hoping everyone had a nice Mother's day weekend. Whether pets, family or anyone else you care for, nurture or love like one...you certainly deserve the kudos!
Chele - how are the eyes and the allergies? How is Iggy coming along with his project?
Kathy - how was the weekend with DM? Did you do anything special for yesterday? How's that crazy weather?
Linda - so thoughtful of you to bake the cupcakes for DH's birthday. Sending BD wishes a day early! Not so happy to hear about how hot it's been for you.
Becky - how was the weekend? Is your ITB doing any better? How are Kenneth and the fur babies?
Karen - what did you end up having for your birthday dinner? Was it something yummy? I ended up cooking and making Mexican bubble up pizza for dinner. Nothing hard to do but I also had 2.5 lbs of ground turkey to cook for the doggies and did my food shopping fairly early thank goodness. The grocery store was fairly crazy by the time I left and that was just after 9:10am. Gary has his extractions and dentures this Wed. I have hair appointment and doctor for blood work same day. I think he may have messed up telling me that he didn't need to have anyone drive him from the surgeon to the dentist. He's got between 7-9 teeth being pulled so I don't know. I've pressed him several times and keeps telling me no he doesn't need me to drive.(sigh).
The hospital is full, the Covid numbers are down and somewhat static today but down nonetheless. We went to see DMIL on Sat. for Mother's day. I walked dogs and Gary visited. They had a sniffing extravaganza. Gary bought hoagies for lunch which would have been delicious except the bread was too hard for me to bite into. We were home around 6:pm so I ordered take-out for delivery. Zoe is not Zoe. I'm keeping a close eye on her because I fear she may be in the last stages of the disease. Niece and Nephew went to see SM who is still in the hospital; that made her very happy.
I am off to work on performance reviews and Gary just texted me that he came home sick from work today. Be safe and take care all. Ciao for now~

Liz, good luck to Gary (and you) with the extractions. He sounds stubborn like Iggy. If someone wants to take me to the doctor or dentist, I say thanks here’s when we need to leave. 😂 Sorry you couldn’t enjoy the hero sandwich. You must still be having problems then? Also sorry to hear Zoe is not doing as well as you would hope. Gentle hugs for you both. Good news on COVID numbers! Take care of yourself.
Linda, Happy birthday to BoB. Hope he enjoys his cupcakes and dinner.
Karen, it sounds like you had an enjoyable birthday. Nice presents!
Kathy, it was 34° this morning with frosties on the roof. Our frost free date is May 15. Let’s hope.
Becky, you’d be shivering up north here for sure. It was frosty this morning.
Our Burpee order should be arriving a few days, TG. Iggy is nagging me about it. First, he makes me order the stuff online, then towards the end of April he starts asking every day “When are we getting the plants?” Next year I am going to suggest we get the plants from a nursery.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Linda Happy early birthday to Bob.
Liz The weekend was rough as I was missing my mom more than usual and it just didn't seem the same. Kenneth and the fur babies are fine. Good luck to Gary. I'm so sorry about Zoe.(((Hugs))).
Chele There is no way I would want to live up there. Our Snowvid as they called it in February was more than enough for all people in Texas. I don't like endless days of 100 degrees but it's better than freezing weather.
Waving.

Linda, I do remember "Red". I hope Bob has a good birthday and the cake/cupcakes turn out well. Too bad about having the dental work on his actual birthday. I would love Roy's. We don't have one anywhere close. Don't blame you for not wanting to eat outdoors. Too bad they can't use those little igloos like they had up north and pipe in AC instead of heat. A sun porch is just what you need with all that heat, Becky . You did have a lot of wind to get that damage! There may be some left over flowers if you go to WM today or tomorrow. Maybe some that weren't flowering yet that you can see the first blooms from. Dale does a pretty good job of picking out gifts. The HR monitor was something I asked for, but the others were surprises. Sorry you had a difficult weekend. Chele, can you check on the Burpee website to figure out when your plants are coming? Maybe that would appease Iggy. Going to the local nursery next year might be a good idea so he can pick out the exact plants and take them home right away. I forgot to mention that I also am now the proud owner of the A nna and the Apocalypse DVD. So we'll be able to watch it any time we want. How long will it be before you get your new glasses? Did you hear how DN's orientation went, Kathy? Is the heat on again there? SNL had a good sketch about going to your first party after everything opens up. Seems pretty accurate😁. They also did a parody of Mare of Easttown, that was hilarious. We've started watching that show, but it's kind of boring. We just want to see who the killer is. We've seen the first couple episodes of the new season of The Handmaid's Tale and it's pretty intense, brutal, and even gory in some places. I wish we would get another season of Killing Eve, but I think it may not be until next year. Did I mention that Sandra Oh was doing a movie at the college where my DN works? He got to see her quite a bit. Hilary's veggie burgers are about 7 of 10 for me. I like the TJ's Cowboy Quinoa Burger better. Hilary's are a bit higher in fat and lower in protein and fiber. Liz, I had a veggie burger for birthday dinner and cheesecake. Some Asian restaurants are closed on Mondays so I'll call the Thai place later in the week and hope someone answers. Arya also likes ground turkey. Good job getting your shopping done early. I agree Gary probably messed up about beng able to drive himself on Wednesday. Are your appointments in the same general area, so you can easily play chauffeur if needed emergently? I hope he's feeling better and won't have to change the appointment for Wednesday. I also hope he's not contagious. Sorry St. Crazy is beyond crazy right now. Even sorrier on Zoe and how closely you're having to watch her. I know how stressful it can be with as much time as you spend away from her with your long days. I hope she turns the corner and you don't have to make any decisions any time soon. Good that DN and DN went to visit SM. How soon will she be going to rehab? We had rain all night until early this afternoon and we still have clouds and the low 60s. Quite a departure from low 80s yesterday. Tomorrow is supposed to be better. I hope so because tomorrow is new tire day. I called this morning to see how long it might take and was told 2.5 to 3 hours. YIKES!!! I figured it would be about half that. So I will drop the car off and then walk to the gym about 3 blocks away, have a leisurely workout and then maybe do a little shopping before I walk back. I really don't want to sit in a waiting room for a couple of hours and the tire place is on Parkway, which is the busiest road in the city so I don't want to sit outside even if they have chairs set up. There is an outlet mall about 3 blocks in a different direction, so that's also an option to kill time. I haven't been there for about a year and a half so I don't know how many places have gone out of business. I may not go into any stores, but I can get in plenty of steps. Hopefully the new tires and alignment will only take a couple of hours.

Karen, no I haven't heard yet on the orientation. DS and I were texting earlier and she said she's trying to control herself and not call him, lol. I watched the first 3 episodes of the new season of The Handmaid's Tale and it is intense. I also hope we get another season of Killing Eve. Have you watched any of Staged starring David Tennant? I haven't started the 2nd season yet, but the first season was pretty funny. They've had some good cameos. It's about a group that was rehearsing for a play and got interrupted by things shutting down for Covid. They're trying to do rehearsals and meetings via Zoom with not so great results.
That must've been fun for your DN to see Sandra Oh. The only time I saw something being filmed was an episode of The Bionic Man out at the Space Center. I was working in one of the buildings next to the VAB and we got to watch him climbing on a Saturn V rocket, lol. That was my first summer interning out there. I hate to say it, but for flavor I still prefer Morningstar's Black Bean Veggie Burger. You and Chele scared me off of them and I think one of Dr. Praeger's is a decent substitute, but not quite as tasty.
Linda, that is hot! Those cupcakes sound great. Happy BD to Bob!
Chele, that sounds cold for this time of year, but I guess fairly normal for you. I heard that the first tropical system of the season formed in the Pacific. I'd take cold over dealing with hurricanes.
Liz, hope Gary is feeling better and all goes well this week. So sorry to hear that Zoe isn't doing well. That's good news on the COVID numbers. DS got takeout and we had that over at DM's. It's nice to be able to go into her house again. The weather is edging towards our summer pattern of heat and thunderstorms, but we're still cooling off into the 60s (barely) at night. We're not as hot as Linda and our summer humidity hasn't kicked in yet, so it's not too bad. Hope you have a good week.
