Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post

NEW CHALLENGE
CARING April 5 - July 4
âYour body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care" - Buddha
This challenge is about caring about and for yourself. So often we get caught up in taking care of everyone else that we donât give ourselves the care we need. Or we give up caring about ourselves. A variety of reasons and for no reason, it just happens. The hard part is to recognize it and once you do, it is hard to explain because very few want to acknowledge it. You get kudos for taking care of others, not so much for taking of yourself. Not caring about yourself can leave an emptiness that you may try to fill with food and alcohol. The emptiness remains, just stuffed down. We want and need more for ourselves. So letâs begin!
Treat yourself the way youâd treat someone you love.
Love yourself first and the rest will follow.
Focus on health and well being
So how do you begin to care about yourself?
Eating fruits and vegetables sounds like a plan. So does drinking water!!
Walking up a flight of stairs without gasping for breath. Your heart will thank you.
If you donât want to be AF then restrict the amount and limit the days you will allow yourself a drink. But remember if 10 is not enough, one is too many.
Start with baby steps. Making too many changes at once can be discouraging so start small. Have you been slacking on flossing daily? Then start making it a ritual. Do you drink soda for energy? Start cutting back by one.
Treat yourself to something you enjoy. Buying the store brand face cream will sit on the counter. If you have a favorite, budget it in as a necessityâŚ.better than buying alcohol! Maybe getting a manicure or pedicure is important to you yet you deny it for yourself. Ask yourself why.
Make a list of indulgences that arenât food or alcohol and start sprinkling them into your life.
Ask for what you need. Too many times we get into a funk and we donât ask for help. You are loved and we want to help each other.
Curb all the justification. Sometimes you just have to do something because you want to do it. You donât have to explain yourself!
Think of your successesâŚ.add three things that went well today to your daily journal. What?? you arenât journaling? Journaling is caring!
LET THE CARING BEGIN!!

Feeling good today, have many things on my list to work through in the next few days before our trip. Going to make some "treats" to take along, Need to buy some of the groceries we will need, get info together for girl whose going to feed the cats and collect the mail. It's wet and gray right now but have some yard chores to take care of, may have to wait until tomorrow. Enjoyed my day yesterday playing with my camera and walking the gardens. Didn't go in the museum, there was a line for people wanting to go in. In my mind I'm just planning that we're driving the car I have, if fate brings me a new car in the next three days, that would be awesome, but can't stress about it. Just counting the days to get some big hugs from my boy Hope you all have a great Monday and enjoyed your day yesterday. I will check in later. Jan Murphy I'm always amazed at how many meals you all serve, that's in one town in the US, I can't imagine. Glad you got gas, I did fill up the other day, hope the prices don't go too crazy before we take this road trip, but I remember one year traveling back east with DS that prices were up near $4 all summer. Hope you can just relax today and enjoy. GG Yay for a quiet day, hope you enjoyed your pizza and now you move on. CIndy Sorry about the flare. Thanks for starting us. Yay for DS making a yummy breakfast and bringing home treats. I haven't had a good tamale in a long time!! Hope the sleep helped! Carole Hope Ty got home and you all got to celebrate. I bought a Sony SX70 and I got it online from Canon because both Best Buy and the local store I sold my cameras too were out of them. Really I think any of the Canon powershot cameras are great. This is my 3rd one, I actually wear out the focus motor which can be fixed but by then the technology has changed so I get a newer one I sold a big Nikon and lense that I liked but was just way too heavy for me to use well without a tripod, also another canon and a sony Too many toys! Amy Hope you got to talk to your other DS. When you moved, how did you choose your new dentist, just look on line or get a recommendation? Cathy It's nice that now DH can get out and run his errands. Hope all is well, that scale is a crazy box, you are probably getting ready for a pound release....Whoosh!! Time for coffee and breakfast.

Just checking in! The christening was beautiful, Motherâs Day was low key and wonder! But I started to get a sore throat late yesterday afternoon, and this morning I feel lousy. I took two Advil cold and sinus , made a cup of coffee, and came back to bed.
Will try to get back later.

It was a nice Mother's Day with beautiful weather. After DH & I walked on the nature trail, we ventured down the hill in the back to retrieve a few pine straw bales the landscapers left behind. It's actually more treacherous going down the hill since they laid the pine straw, more slippery and you don't know where the holes are. But it looks nice and I don't anticipate needing to go down it very often. I spent most of the rest of the day chilling out on the couch. DH went to the store and brought back frozen breaded shrimp, Twinkies and strawberries for our Mother's Day dinner. DD gave me a cute garden gnome. Talked to DS in WA, he gets his second vaccine this week.
We had thunderstorms overnight, and it's supposed to rain off and on today. We're going to try to get our walk in before it starts again.
Jan- WTG AF107, blue dot, walking, getting BOT. Glad you had a nice trip to the cabin and all is well. Loved the pics with your new camera at the art museum gardens. I hope you do get your new car before the trip. We actually picked our dentist b/c they are so close, but we do like them very much.
Carole- Glad Ty's team is doing well.
Murphy- You sure had a busy Sunday.
GG- Sounds like you had a nice Sunday. I'm also Team Nathan, but I haven't watched last night's episode yet.
Cindy- So sorry about the flare- gentle hugs! Yay for the tamales, etc. DS brought home.
Cathy- WTG tracking, staying positive, working on increasing strength, flexibility, activity. Sorry the scale is not cooperating.

Good morning all! I was so exhausted last night and we had storms as well so that made for good sleeping weather! I've been puttering around this morning. I cut up some squash that was about to go bad and have it roasting in the oven. Made a salad to put in the fridge and planned out some meals for the week. I don't do as much "prep" as I used to when I was working but I do like to make out sort of a meal plan because it helps me use up more of what I have on hand and keeps me from getting in a rut!
Cindy - so sorry about the flare. My legs and feet are really sore today but I'm not sure if that is due to fibromyalgia or just being on my feet so much yesterday! Yay for DS providing you with good eats!!
Jan - loved your pics on FB! You are so talented!
Liz - so happy the christening went well but I'm sure sorry you aren't feeling well today!
Amy - I cut up some strawberries this morning and now I'm wishing I had some Twinkies too! LOL
GG - there was some kind of computer hack on a major gas pipeline on Friday and they have had to shut down. The pipeline apparently serviced the whole eastern country. Our gas prices jumped 10 cents in just 2 days.
No big plans for today. I want to vacuum everything really good because I did order another floor steam cleaner and it's supposed to be here today so I'll try to steam clean everything tomorrow. It's grey and cloudy but I don't think we are supposed to have any more rain but I'm planning to make a small pot of soup for lunch. My squash is ready to come out of the oven now. I love roasted veggies and I don't know why I don't fix them more often! Hope you all have a great start to your week! Murphy

Hi Everyone!
We are having terrible thunderstorms...Ainsley is under the bed. There were terrible accidents and power is going in and out. Going to have an early bedtime and hopefully the sound of rain lulls me to sleep.
Flood warnings through Wednesday afternoon!
And yup, our gas prices went up!
Hugs, Cindy

CARING CHALLENGE: I will use âď¸ or ââ or â * Track on ITB âď¸ * Stay positive âď¸ * Work on increasing * activity - âď¸ * strength - âď¸ * flexibility - âď¸ Labor of Loving yourself first! April 5 - July 4 April 5 start weight: 168.2 April 12: 167.8 April 19: 166.6 April 26: 166.8 May2: 166.8 May 9: 166.6 May 16: May 23: May 31: June 6: June 13: June 20: June 27 July 4:
166.8 today
NSV: My top that was previously above crotch level is now covering it. I have an almost-tunic top to wear with leggings and since the sleeves are not set-in can wear it for the foreseeable future.
Ran a few errands this morning and home now to do online things before making lunch. Nothing exciting to share. The lines at the gas stations were long and people were waiting because subsidies will be removed soon, gasoline is being rationed, and people want to have some stored...just in case...same with food and other things.
JAN: In some ways taking the car you know rather than a new one on a longer road trip might be easier and safer. I know you will have a GREAT time! I have no idea what my body is doing that is keeping it at the same approximate weight BUT I am on program and eating withing parameters and feel better in my skin so won't worry about it.
LIZ: Hope you feel better soon! Glad you had a wonderful Mother's Day.
AMY: Your mother's day sounds fine! Did you make strawberry shortcake desserts with the twinkies and strawberries?
MURPHY: I hope you were able to rest your feet and relax. I have never been one to plan meals because I usually have to make whatever hubby brings in from the garden.
CINDY: Sorry about the flood warnings...hope you stay warm and dry and the power is not cut off!
