Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. 33 right now, with those daily clear blue skies, high expected at 64 today. The warm up is starting.
I won't bother answering Marsha's post from yesterday, as it will be awhile for her to be back, and we know she won't want to go way back and read. Looks like she will have a nice day to fly out.
Gareth, we had last night what was hopefully our last night of a frost advisory. Or so the weather guy said yesterday, so we shall see if we are done with the chilly nights, which I like, but are not good for growing. Here too, last year was cold, someone posted a chart on FB showing the lows were bad. How was your dentist apt? I have to make one as I am having some pain. Oh well, that figures. I have not talked to DD since the other day. She has always been good with her appearances, besides the fact she is so overweight. And now, as I told my DS, since her surgery to get rid of the weight, I bet she has put around 40# back on.
Carol, thank you. I don't know about her noticing, as she was defending the girls, saying they had showers, (how do you take a shower and have greasy hair??) and that both girls were wearing new clothes. Where did they shop; Goodwill??? Isn't it amazing how our children turn out to be or look exactly the opposite way they were raised? My DB is an excellent case in point, with how we were raised, then to see the inside of his house, after he died, all alone for all his adult years. Just unbelievable! That's great about your DD going to workout! I still do not have that urge to go back to the Y. I quit going when everything was put in lockdown last year, and it still does not appeal to me to go there, with everyone sweating and huffing and puffing.
Anngie, yes cake! YUM! Since we are having the Memorial on his birthday, I want to have a birthday cake there. The place Marsha recommended for cakes looks amazing on their website, and do just about any kind of specialty, so with hunting being DH most favorite thing to do, while he was on our earth, I am going there, hopefully today and see if they can recreate a picture I have in my phone, of his hunting blind, in the woods. This cake, if I go with this bakery will be expensive. I did call 2 of my favorite bakeries, to see if they delivery, and of course there is a fee, so as we say here in Wisconsin, it just may be a horse a piece, when it comes down to these 3 bakeries. The Kohl's I go to had most but not all fitting rooms opened. I don't care, the ones they had open were just fine. Going there on a Monday helped, as it was not too busy. I have all the clothes washed, and there are just 2 things I want to iron. I still need 1 or 2 shirts to go with a pair of pants that are really a bit different for me, they are green (but not a loud green) in background, with muted pink flowers. I saw them and just had to have them! We have a Y in our neighborhood, with it being a bigger Y for the area, some Y's around town are not that big, as ours has the pool, hot tub, and the slide for the pool. That is where I have been going for years, off and on. I still can not bring myself to go back.
Hi Robin.
Oh my goodness, I had the worst night sleep! Barely at all. The nurse of my doctor, last week would not refill my Tramadol he has me on for all that pain. So last night was the first night without the pill, and of course I was in holy pain! The nurse told me if I wanted a new script, I had to see the doctor. Yesterday I made an appt for tomorrow, to see him, so hopefully tonight I will be so tired from last night, that I get some sleep. I never want to go through that again!
I wanted to go check that bakery out that Marsha recommended, but not sure if I will feel up to going now, but I do want to get to a party store to see if they have the invitations I need.
Have a nice day everyone.

What a day yesterday. I went into the city to help with Maddie, not that DS really needed it that badly, he is much better, but when we walked to a restaurant for lunch, he took his crutch. I pushed the stroller. We went to a place that was about 3/4 mile from his apartment, but in Manhattan they consider that in the neighborhood. Maddie does great in restaurants, of course we do outdoor dining, but she ate scrambled eggs, orange slices, strawberries and blueberries, and we had salads with grilled chicken. She cried when she realized I was leaving, that was a first. She used to cry when she first saw me. The drama was on the way home, I got a flat on one of the parkways, and had to wait about an hour and a half for the tow truck. Thankfully I had my kindle with me. They guy brought me to the tire store we use near our house. DH of course had dropped his car there late afternoon so they could inspect it this morning. DS will bring me there soon, I must go up and get dressed.
Karen, that cake will be great, I hope it is within your budget because I know those places can be really costly. My IPhone has a step counter, but of course I have to be carrying my phone for it to count.

Good Morning Ladies!
Karen---glad you have a venue for the memorial and the cake sounds lovely. It sounds like a perfect memorial. Sorry about the drama with DD1------Forgive me if I am being to upfront but I really do think she needs some counseling, it couldn't hurt. That I am sure is easier said than done however. How did her bathroom remodel turn out? Our weather sounds identical to yours. Try some Tylenol PM or Advil PM tonight----if you are having pain the Advil PM might be better.
Robin----sorry about your chaotic day yesterday. I must have missed if you said, but what happened to your son that he needed a crutch.
Marsha---Have a safe and fun trip.
Hi Gareth, Carol and Anngie!!!!!
It has still been crazy busy. I think with the corn and bean prices everyone is planting much more of those two crops and we have been scrambling to get in more seed. A good problem to have but very hectic. It has been cool and dry which seems weird for here, but it has made planting conditions just great. We are done now with planting our own crops but busy with the seed yet. I do see a lot of the farmers are finished but some have a few days left-----and then we need a good rain. Then it will be insurance time again to insure those precious crops-----at least I won't be quite as busy with that. I have been missing you ladies and find myself thinking of each of you during the day. I have skimmed most of the posts but it gets to me night time usually and feel like it is to late to post.
I have been listening to The Girls With No Names when I have been in the office alone with the never ending delivery tickets to put in the computer and inventory and invoice changes. That isn't often though as customers are in and out and one or the other sons are here to help me out with the loading. Anyway I am really enjoying the book.
Have a great day ladies----looking forward to spending more time with you!!

Karen, sounds like we've been having the same weather. Everything was frosty here again this morning. That's supposedly finally the last of it.
Beautiful, sunny morning for my walk. It's warming up fast. I was warm in my lined windbreaker by time I got back home. I probably won't even need my unlined windbreaker for when I walk with DH again later.
Yesterday the dentist found a cavity that I need to go back to have filled. I also need a root canal on another tooth that I haven't decided on yet. I'm supposed to let him know when I get that cavity filled. My only other option is to pull that tooth but that's not recommended with taking Prolia so that's not a good option. I'm sure I'll get the root canal done. Just hate that it's so pricey.
Anngie, not sure how much it was for cleaning my teeth since my receipt wasn't itemized. The total including x-rays was $274 which was more than I expected.
Robin, I must've missed too what happened to your DS.
Pinky, good to "see" you here! Pop in when you can.
Coffee is ready so gotta get breakfast....

Robin, whenever we go spend the day with DGS we have dinner with them, then we help put DGS to bed, then we leave. Back in February when the weather was supposed to get bad, we decided to leave earlier so DGS was still up and he cried when we left. We realized that he hadn't seen us leave before. He would go to bed and then the next morning when he woke up, we would be gone. I just remember once when he was a baby he cried when we first came. He was probably 6 months or so.
You all have made me want to go to Kohls. I hated not being able to try on things. I guess the dressing rooms at our store are open now, too.
Still in the 50s today. It is supposed to be a little warmer tomorrow and then start being in the 70s. We got rain again yesterday afternoon.
I needed to call about a bill we got. It was in DH's name and they wouldn't give me any information without his permission. I told them I would be happy to give it to him and have him call, but he doesn't really know anything about that particular account.
I don't remember who asked about YMCAs here in Texas. I think Dallas has one, but the smaller towns don't. With DD, she made it sound like she couldn't get exercise because her gym was closed. Of course, walking with Leslie Sansone or whoever wouldn't he near as intense, but at least she would have getting some exercise.
Robin, sorry about the flat. I hate it when something like that happens.

The mystery of DS, when they were in Boston he was playing basketball with his DBIL and twisted his knee. He went to the emergency room, they said it was not broken, and it wasn't his ACL, but could be meniscus. So far it is getting better, but if he still has trouble with it he will come out and see our orthopedist.
Karen, I agree with Pinky, maybe family therapy would be good.
Pinky, glad things are hopping in your business. I have been buying corn on the cob lately, and obviously not from your area, but it has been very good.
Carol, when I used to go to see Maddie, she would cry when I first came. She is only a year old, so I was surprised that she would cry when I left. She was pointing at her sneakers, so I handed her one, and she wanted to put it on her own foot. They just use it to keep her warmer when she goes out. When we are in the city, we walk far, and even though it was a warm day, not that warm.

Robin, I hope your son’s knee heals well enough that he doesn’t need surgery. I suppose time will tell. I mentioned Poshmark the other day and I think you were familiar with it. I started to join it with a password and all and then came to the part where they wanted me to send a photo of myself so that’s where I stopped. I really didn’t want to do that so I guess I won’t be shopping!! They showed some nice purses too.
Karen, sorry for your sleepless night! I didn’t sleep well either. I read for awhile but then still tossed and turned. It’s terrible. I think the cake you’d like to get would be great! For this very special occasion I think I’d get it regardless of the cost. It would be a part of your great memories!
Carol, I would not hesitate to give your Kohls a try. I found, at least with mine, that the company did a nice job with precautions in place, etc.
Gareth, I’ve never had a root canal but DH has and found they’ve come a long way with those procedures. I can’t remember the cost of his, but as we can see with just cleanings, no dental procedure is cheap. Do you carry dental insurance?
Pinky, welcome back lol! I’ll bet you sleep good at night! Are you done with the calving at least!?

Pinky, I see four authors for a book by that name. Which one are you reading?
