Yes, I find it easy to take small bites. I'm not sure what chewing slowly vs chewing fast would mean... Smaller bites seems to slow down my eating.
Can anyone tell me what chewing slowly really is? I'm being serious. How does one chew fast or slow?

Do you find it easy to take small bites and chew slowly? Have never really thought about it. I don't take HUGE bites but don't think about taking small ones and don't chew as much as they say one should...hmm...
Any other ideas to slow down and eat mindfully? Lots of ideas read but not many implemented

My mom always ate slowly & always encouraged us to do the same. She said that chewing your food slowly & thoroughly helped with digestion. I think she was right, because it gets the digestive juices flowing. I think it also encourages us to eat less, because we get full faster.
All these ideas are helpful, except that I probably won't implement any of them. I eat too fast & take too big bites.

I would say that rather than chew slowly would be to chew thoroughly. Chewing just enough to break things up and swallowing is not as good as chewing more until the food has no lumps in it. It took me awhile to learn to chew thoroughly (or slowly) but I have gotten better at it. Often I'll take more than one bite of (a single) food as I like the flavor blend of more than one type of food together. Then I do tend to chew longer and more thoroughly.
The only other way I can think of to eat more mindfully is to keep my mind from wandering onto other things and keep more focused on eating. I have to consciously bring my mind back to what I'm doing.

I think that now I eat a a moderate or medium speed. I do still tend to eat kind of fast, not as bad I used to, but still like to be aware.
I think my bites are average? If I'm eating something rich I want to savor, I will take smaller bites to make it last longer. Somehow, that saying that "the first bite or two are the best" doesn't really work for me. If I have a slice of cheesecake (for example), I think every bite is delicious & yes, the last bite tastes as good as the first.
Thinking about chewing slowly, maybe to sound kind of scientific about it - moving your jaw more slowly? Like when a person is doing an exercise moving slowly with control? That's all I can think of that they might mean?

Sometimes I find that I chew once or twice and then try to swallow a huge bite. Perhaps that is what it means to NOT do ? I try most of the time to chew my food except in the earlier cases. Definitely easier for your body to break down chewed food than huge chunks (TMI perhaps ?)
Putting your fork down between bites or using chopsticks or your non-dominant hand would also slow you down between bites.
