WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

1734 calories + isolated double scoop waffle cone :-) 1165 exercise calories 99g protein 34g fiber
Exercise calories include 2 classes and my first 30 mile bike ride of the season. Yay! It was a perfect day at the trail, very little wind, mid 60’s, very few people. I treated myself to ice cream on the 35 minute drive home. I had probably the best waffle cone ever, homemade and so good. I was exhausted and sound asleep by 9:15 last night.
Nancy, thanks for the book recommendations. I’ve read Jennifer Weiner before. Mrs. Everything was available in audiobook through the online library so I downloaded it. There’s a wait for The Good Sister. I looked up Kristin Hannah. She’s popular right now because of the Netflix series Firefly Lane. I just finished The Confession and Sooley, both by John Grisham. You may have read The Confession already, it’s an older book. It was a timely read for me and especially heartbreaking. I think white is the new WW plan!
Meg, so glad you’re back on track!
Lori, happy birthday to your husband! You’ll have 1.2 off in no time at all.

C59. D1. New day. Fresh start. Scale was kinder to me than I deserved...
Jan - yay! On the 30 mile bike ride. The waffle cone sounds fabulous. Oops. We bought the farm in 2008, typo.
Nancy- it does my heart such good to be on this group. Thank you for keeping us going. And yes, when I check in daily I do better and feel better. CSA stand for community supported agriculture. I get a mixed box of garden produce each week from a local farm. It's fun and beautiful. They raise all kinds of veggies, potatoes, squash, greens, herbs etc...
I'm reading a nonfiction book that is really interesting to me, Sapiens. It's the story of human evolution over the last few million years. Enjoying it greatly! The piano book sounds good. I'm struggling to practice with everything in my life. Will get in time today!
Lori- welcome back! I'm behind on personals, but hope you thoroughly enjoyed your trip. And yes, gardening should be easier when we retire... But I have about 8 years left to work...
Meg- hope all is going well. Our county feels back to 'normal' now that the governor lifted the mask ban. We are sparsely populated, but among the highest per capita vaccinated in the state.
Hi to all who follow. My plan is to check in daily - good or bad.
Grateful for this place to gather and all of you.
Kathy

Day 94. I didn't do well last night - I need to find healthier ways to reward myself after a hard day or week. Today is starting out OK - had a good time playing racquetball.
Kathy: Good to have you back. I hope the CDC's new recommendations about mask-wearing for fully vaccinated folk will be embraced by Illinois and Chicago!
I'm envious of you piano-players. I never take time to play, and I know I don't have time to take lessons and practice. Maybe someday.
Gray, rainy day. Meat loaf in the crock pot. Praying I don't succumb to the urge to bake!
Peace.

k closed successfully 78 consecutive nights - 70 at midnight, the remaining 8 10:30 ish.
138.6 Happy Scale moving average - that compares to 140.6 last Saturday. Actually 138 this morning. Of course these are home weigh ins. Add 1.5 lb for official WW WI (my signature weight numbers, but still...
Jan - A 30 mile bike ride in beautiful weather sounds perfect as does the well-deserved waffle cone - what flavor(s)? I probably read The Confession since I'm into anything about innocent prison sentences. Sooley is brand new. I'll add it to my list. Thanks.
Kathy - The scale doesn't lie. You must have done something right. It does our hearts good to have you in this group! The garden produce boxes sound awesome. Do you also make them up for a neighbor. Sounds like your kind of thing. Sapiens sounds interesting but I only read books on my ipad and unfortunately the reviews of the kindle edition were all negative, something about the formatting. Thrilled to hear of your plan for daily check ins here.
Meg - Win some, lose some. That's the way it goes. Congratulate yourself for posting here no matter which version you're going thru at any given time.

Nancy, Wonderful scale average! It shows that one isolated meal is not the culprit. It’s what happens the rest of the week...and you had an amazing week!! And yes, I had 1/2 a piece of the cheesecake (5 oz piece = 517 cal). DH’s favorite take out is pizza and eggplant. I was able to fit in a slice of pizza, about 1/4 of the eggplant + the cheesecake and finished the day in my calorie target.
Today has been all healthy food since tomorrow we have a Christening (DH is Godfather). I’m bringing a fruit salad and I plan to bring a piece of cake home for my last treat.
Jan, homemade waffle cone and ice cream, sounds amazing and worth it!! Especially after 2 classes and 30 miles!
Kathy, Bet it feels good after an OP day!! The first thing I made when I got home was roasted veggies....that’s one thing a really miss when traveling. You can get them steamed or loaded with too much oil, butter, cheese, etc - they really need to learn to how to make them tasty and healthy...It could just be the places DH likes to eat....lol
Meg, it’s good your recognizing what areas need improving and give yourself credit for all the good things you did. Everyday we get another chance to improve. Hope today was a good day!

Lori: PIzza - check; cheesecake - check; eggplant - what?!
Thanks for the encouragement. I am trying to stay positive since most days are imperfect. But I'm exercising every day, pre-planning and tracking, and posting here. I've tried really hard to weigh every day (as Heather on HSM suggests), but when the scale goes up it has a huge impact on my mood and my eating. So I've stopped weighing.I need one of those fancy-schmancy scales that record your weight without telling you. (Well, not "need.")
Take care, all.

Lori - It's terrific how you can juggle the calories to stay within range no matter where or what you're eating. And I love the side by side average daily calories and scale moving average. It seems to put everything into perspective.
Meg - If the daily weigh in's don't work for you, then forget about them. We're all different. Can you do once a week? That might be a nice compromise. Then again Jan almost never weighs in and just bought a two piece bathing suit. To each his own.
