Yesterday turned into a disaster on food for me. I think what brought it on was a pity party. I started thinking about my sister in California who has severe back problems and says the doctors have done all they can and she still has lots of pain but is just living with it. I then realized she goes sailing with her husband every week, is flying on Monday to their timeshare in Cabo and then a few weeks after that is flying to her daughterās in Kansas for a long visit. Now my back when I have pain makes it hard to even walk so thinking about what she is doing I started wondering if she is playing on my sympathy and even though she has pain maybe itās not as intense as she says it is. Those thoughts made me think maybe Iām foolish worrying about her and once again being played the fool by someone I love dearly. As those thoughts built up I hit the M&Mās jar a lot! I did stop as I realized how foolish I was being as maybe her pain has been a part of her life for so long maybe she has learned to live with it and not let it control what she does. Anyway I plan on today being a better day.
Supposed to be a rainy day so Fred is not golfing. Iām thinking of planting hostas instead of flowers in the backyard as you canāt mess those up and they spread very nicely. Since my card table has arrived I might try getting a start on my Motherās Day puzzle. It will definitely be a challenge as the border is all gray!

Sandy my DB has had 3 or 4 back surgeries and is in pain and thereās nothing else they can do for him. He uses a walker or a cane. However he has planted his garden. So people can do things if they really want to I guess. In my opinion back surgeries are a scam. If you have one surgeries youāll have multiple and still end up in pain. Iāll stick to therapy and exercise.
Karen C has Bill found his hearing aid? How frustrating. Our house has a stamped patio. Everyone seems impressed by it but I have the inside of the house on my mind now. Everything home improvement is high priced right now.
Pat is it your neck or back pain that hinders knitting? Perhaps in time you can knit again. If the therapist leaves you with exercises remember to do those.
And Vicki Iām pleased you are improving. Just bring home surely has to help. Take it slow is my advice too for both you and Pat.
Gail āThe Great Aloneā is packed in a box right now. I started it and couldnāt finish it. Iāll try again. I guess Iād better read those I havenāt yet. Enjoy your cousins weekend.
Jane thanks for the book name. To miss Publix and the BOGOS and gas cards. We used our last gas card.
Ruth thanks for the tip on Soma. As far as the newest guideline on masks Iāll take it slow.

Good morning. Yesterday was a blur and it was done before I knew what happened. I did mop the house as the dogs were there for 6 days without me. Footprints everywhere.
Garage sale today and I've been fooling with it since yesterday evening. I just have to go out and pull things out of the garage.
Vicki saw you posted yesterday. So glad you are able to post again. I guess I need an update of where you are and what restrictions you have.
Sandy I am in constant pain with my knee but I force myself to do what I want to do and keep going. No need to pity me and probably your sister is the same. She just forgot to tell you not to feel sorry for her. If it were unbearable she would not be able to fly and do what she is doing. Sorry if I feel uncaring.
Have to get out and pull everything out of the garage. Beautiful day!

Geri I donāt think youāre uncaring. I have not seen my sister in years and she has had several surgeries and steel plates put in plus nerve burns and her bones are deteriorating and has been told sheāll end up in a wheelchair as she gets older. I just donāt know how she can do things, especially sailing as lots of bumps on the water. But I just have to tell myself to just let it go and listen to her complain about the pain but not let it affect me anymore.

Good Morning! We're having a beautiful day today with bright sunshine, blue skies, and mid 70's weather. I'm doing laundry but I'll be going out for a walk after lunch.
We heard yesterday that our DGD Cassey passed her Special Agent Entrance Exam and will be receiving additional information from the Secret Service's Office of Human Resources regarding the next steps in the hiring process! We're so excited for what possibilities lie ahead for her!
Our neighbor, Sylvia returned home to her house across the street from us yesterday afternoon. It's been 7 long months since she went to her DD's near Scranton for multiple surgeries and lengthy recovery. She is doing amazingly well. We are so thankful for all the prayers and excellent care she received during this time.

Geri you are one of the most caring people I know. You are also pragmatic and see things as they are.
KC I was surprised you said neighbor across the street. I always pictured your big house out in the country in a rural setting. Itās good your neighbor is doing well. Congrats to your DGD.
We are going to an estate auction in the country this morning. In the rain. I know. Weāre nuts.

Good morning. Lots going on with everyone. As to pain. Don had two back surgeries, lots of PT and was unable to stand up straight. I feel myself leaning forward and try to stand up straight. I get injections but they donāt seem to be helping. I think you might complain but just do what you can and go on. I need to get to the pool and hang and walk.
Sandy. Your sister just needs to hear you sympathize I think.
KC wonderful about Cassey. Your family must be very happy and proud. You have some very special DGD s
Geri. Good luck with the garage sale. I seem to be having my own one item at a time. I had a strange Facebook message that was not downloaded from you last night about 11:30. It was a bunch of numbers and I was headed to bed

Sandy, when my knee was getting bad, I was in a lot of pain all the time, but as it had come upon me slowly I almost didn't realize how bad it was until I was on the X-ray table at the orthopedist's office. Lying there, I thought, "How have I functioned this long?" and began to cry. After I broke my kneecap, since I did not know it was broken I flew on a plane (horrible pain), used my recumbent bicycle and went swimming. You do kind of make adaptations even when you shouldn't. She may actually be in great pain and think you are a safe person to vent to. Thank goodness for this thread as there aren't many I feel safe venting with. And we all have pity parties. Doing that puzzle sounds like a great idea.
Re back surgery, I have heard tons of awful stories, but my sister broke her back in a car accident and could not walk or anything. Her surgery went well. She knows she was one of the lucky ones.
I'm taking it slowly with masks too, Sharon.
No one would ever call you uncaring, Geri!
KC, we're have the same kind of gorgeous day here. I will enjoy sitting on my cousin's deck and reminiscing with her and my other cousin. Congrats to Cassey.
OK. I must get dressed for my first day with my cousins. I want to pick up a bottle of wine and some flowers.
Have a delightful Saturday, all.

Good Morning!
Today I had 6 in my yoga class today. That is the most on Saturday as I just started doing Saturdays in October. One of the gals has cancer and has not been to an in person class or anywhere else in over a year.
We are also having a beautiful day. It is still in the 70s and not expected to get over 84 today. YAY!
Sandy, I do believe motion is lotion and that you need to keep your body moving, whether you have knee issues, back issues, arthritis...gentle movement helps.
Sharon, I am another who thinks back surgeries are a scam. My favorite yoga teacher was injured in a ski accident when he was 22 and had 4 or 5 back surgeries that still left him in pain. When he started doing yoga the pain went away, so he started teaching it. He has never used a cane. He did have a stroke a few years ago that affected his face. He is 68 and still teaching yoga.
KC, Congrats to Cassey! That is so exciting!

Sharon, we are rural/agricultural here. We have 6.5+ acres with frontage on both front and back streets. Bill's brother's former property next door is 10.5+ acres. The 2 across the street are also 10.5+ acres and then another of equal size at the west end of the road. To the east are several large farm fields as well as a big farm operation. There are other farms that surround our area as well. Plus 2 large newer housing developments of very large, very expensive homes. These developments sre on land sold by an old Mennonite farmer for $5 million about 10 yrs ago when his wife needed to go into skilled nursing facility. Sadly, his sons had no interest in continuing to farm. Many of the farms in this area are part of the William Penn treaty with the Indians. The land he purchased was broken up into 100 acre plots. Our property was part of a 100 acre farm.

Been a busy morning so far.
I agree you have to learn to live and work with the pain. I will get the injections now that I've actually spoke to someone at the clinic whl was able to answer all my questions. If the injections don't work I'll just have to lice with the pain as I will not get back surgery. I cannot take the chance that it would not be successful and perhaps end up in a wheelchair. Can't do that, I still need to take care of Jerry. I'll manage with my TENS unit and CBD oil.
As to why I can't knit. It's because my left hand keeps falling asleep. I can't feel the needles or hold them properly.
As for masks Jerry and I will continue to wear them.

Greetings: It's 9:30 here already! I woke up at 4 again and couldn't even get back to dozing. I tried. Oh, I tried. so I'm just weary.
QOTD: 1. Have you declared the pandemic over for yourself/household? 2. What does that mean as far as wearing a mask, or doing anything else?
AOTD: This question has been stuck in my head since last night's news. In Colorado, mask wearing is over if you are vaccinated. However, stores will be allowed to set their own policy regarding mask wearing for vaccinated people and people must follow that. One county here declared that policy a few weeks ago. Not ours. Bill and I just looked at each other. Our policy is that we will wear masks when we go indoors anywhere. Period. Yes, we've been fully vaccinated since Feb 26, but there are so many who aren't and there are also those who are vaccinated who are getting it. True, their cases are light, but still. If a mask can hold that off, we're for it.
Of course, he's been very careful with his mask and removing it always wearing the hearing aid masks, but still that's what he had on when someone he removed his hearing aid and didn't even know it. It also makes me wonder if it fell out at some earlier point when he didn't know it. it's been really frustrating trying to talk to him. With our late marriage we pay for ourselves, but last night I told him I'd pay half of new hearing aids just for him to get new ones. He has been reluctant!
Ruth, well, here's our RMD story. Bill, older, has had to take an RMD for two years. It came in the fall. Well, the city of Tucson switched from one management company for their deferred comp program in the fall. We don't check our checking accounts for additions and subtractions, because we know what's coming in and watch what goes out individually. So, if one by one things are expected, then the account will be as expected. In doing the taxes there were two 1099s for his RMD. One from the old company and one from the new. So, we thought someone made a mistake. He called to get it straightened out only to find out that both had sent an RMD so he was doubled up in 2020! He hadn't picked up that the second deposit was the second deposit and not just a repeat of the first deposit. Sigh! If it isn't one thing, it's another.
so, since it's so late,, I'll post and come back.

So now having read today's posts ... you all are answering the QOTD! I must have missed it earlier.
Pat, have you talked to the PT/OT about how you are in pain when you knit? One of the things I remember when the PT first came to see my Mom after her back surgery, which was absolutely life saving, I guess not the norm, the PT talked to her about what she did and wanted to do so they could come up with exercises to help her get back to to doing those things.. For Mom it was pretty simple. she just wanted to be able to lift her arms so she could get the headset on and listen to her books. They also modified the recorder she used, got a different one from Books for the Blind that had some feature on it that made it easier for her. Sounds like back surgeries aren't well thought of, but Mom's made the difference between going into a wheelchair and continuing to walk.
Sharon, is your patio tinted/colored? We're considering color and discovered we're thinking drastically different colors! Who knew! It's always funny to me to find when we are in close agreement and when we are polar opposites.
KC, when we drive around PA I imagine that your house is like many that we see, especially as you've described it.

Good morning!
Fortunately my headaches seem to have let up quite a bit. I did air the place out a couple of times. Also, landscapers were here for two full days Dawn to dusk, mowing, leaf blowing, sowing grass, etc. my DD said āno chemicalsā since the kids will be playing there. It looks splendid and maybe it helped my āallergiesā. Also, I got Flonase that Iāve used in the past.
This morning I asked DGD, 3, what she was doing today. She said she was going to a party for Eli with just DD. She told me about her flowered dress and new sandals. Turns out sheās off to CT to a Bah Mitzvah for DSILs BFs DS. She will have a wonderful time! Iāll hear all about it!
Iām quite concerned as my friend who is my hair stylist isnāt answering. Iāve known him since 1985 and though younger than me heās not been well. He was working from home. When COVID began I called to see how he was and he has roommates that shopped, etc. He had precasting conditions that may have taken their toll. Very sad! Iāve not cut my hair since 12/19! I just wear it up but Iām ready to deal with it. Now I need to search for someone I trust to do my highlights. Like my DGM itās phenomenal that I still have my brown hair at 72! My sisters and mother all went white. My DD woukd have more grey than me if she didnāt color her hair. No idea why, donāt question it. Ha!
Sandy, thatās a beautiful DGD. Gail, enjoy reminiscing. Enjoy the pool Jane. I had another sale. My Armoire didnāt move at the auction so I reduced it drastically on Marketplace and itās gone! Good to hear that Vicki is up and about but taking it slow. Karen E, how nice to get together with DSs. Sharon will you camp next year as well? Sounds very relaxing.
This week I made it to the pool M-F so Iām taking today off to accomplish some errands and housework. Guess Iād better get going!
Happy Saturday all!
