Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post

NEW CHALLENGE
CARING April 5 - July 4
āYour body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care" - Buddha
This challenge is about caring about and for yourself. So often we get caught up in taking care of everyone else that we donāt give ourselves the care we need. Or we give up caring about ourselves. A variety of reasons and for no reason, it just happens. The hard part is to recognize it and once you do, it is hard to explain because very few want to acknowledge it. You get kudos for taking care of others, not so much for taking of yourself. Not caring about yourself can leave an emptiness that you may try to fill with food and alcohol. The emptiness remains, just stuffed down. We want and need more for ourselves. So letās begin!
Treat yourself the way youād treat someone you love.
Love yourself first and the rest will follow.
Focus on health and well being
So how do you begin to care about yourself?
Eating fruits and vegetables sounds like a plan. So does drinking water!!
Walking up a flight of stairs without gasping for breath. Your heart will thank you.
If you donāt want to be AF then restrict the amount and limit the days you will allow yourself a drink. But remember if 10 is not enough, one is too many.
Start with baby steps. Making too many changes at once can be discouraging so start small. Have you been slacking on flossing daily? Then start making it a ritual. Do you drink soda for energy? Start cutting back by one.
Treat yourself to something you enjoy. Buying the store brand face cream will sit on the counter. If you have a favorite, budget it in as a necessityā¦.better than buying alcohol! Maybe getting a manicure or pedicure is important to you yet you deny it for yourself. Ask yourself why.
Make a list of indulgences that arenāt food or alcohol and start sprinkling them into your life.
Ask for what you need. Too many times we get into a funk and we donāt ask for help. You are loved and we want to help each other.
Curb all the justification. Sometimes you just have to do something because you want to do it. You donāt have to explain yourself!
Think of your successesā¦.add three things that went well today to your daily journal. What?? you arenāt journaling? Journaling is caring!
LET THE CARING BEGIN!!

HABIT ACCOUNTABILITY
We can be and will be accountable and supportive to each other. As always no judgement, just encouragement, and if needed, tough love though we are usually toughest on ourselves. Set your accountability goals and let's get to work. Letās be healthier versions of ourselves come July 4.

I got a call from work wanting help with some reports that were needed by 3pm, so DH went off to Home Depot by himself to get the garbage disposal. He was able o get gas while he was out. By the time I finished stuff for work, DH was installing the new garbage disposal and needed a little help. After it was installed, he discovered he needed another part, so we went to Ace Hardware, who didn't have what he needed. So we went on to Home Depot. He found what he needed and I got some stuff from the garden center. We stopped and got some fried chicken from Publix on the way home, since it was now late afternoon. We never did get out for a walk, but I managed to get over 10,000 steps anyhow. Dinner was good, DH went to bed shortly thereafter. DS, DD, & I had fun playing Winky Dink, DD won.
Today is starting out sunny and beautiful. We'll be going for a walk soon and I plan on getting my lilies and petunias in the ground today and spreading some pine straw.
GG- Glad you passed your test.
Carole- WTG staying AF with your friends. Safe travels to Nebraska.

Good morning friends!
I am still under the weather, but I did talk to the NP from my PC's office. She prescribed an antibiotic that will take care of the bacterial infection in both my sinuses and bronchial tubes. I just started yesterday and hoping it will kick in quickly because my back and rib cage muscles are killing me from coughing and blowing my nose so much. One thing that you can say about this pandemic is that because I was housebound so much, I did not catch my annual change of season bug last year. It is always the same time of year unless we have an extremely warm early spring.
On a good note, I have made real progress on knitting my 4th baby blanket to date this year, hoping to finish it by early next week. I only have 3 more to go, yes, that's right, 3, my BFF told me that her son and daughter-in-law are pregnant with first baby and he is due in September. After that, I already have some outfits picked out for my Isabel for the fall and winter that I want to knit. These girls better stop popping them out, lol!
Please forgive me for no personals, but my head is still so blocked up to concentrate. As soon as the stuffiness dissipates, I will go back and catch up. I really do hope everyone is well! Love, Liz

Hi all and Happy Saturday! I've been taking a break from the computer so sorry I didn't post yesterday.. I have been spending way to much time on the computer the last few weeks so I just decided to "unplug" for a while! Everything is fine around here. Gas prices are crazy so that makes it easy to stay home! I'm going to have my nails done in a bit. Love you all! Murphy

Hi girls. I booked our trip to Myrtle Beach last night! Weāre going in September. š Yesterday I bought a cheap dress at Walmart. Today I went back and got 2 more. Itās sleeveless and has pockets. I figure it will be helpful after my surgery. Itās casual and cool so I know I will wear them all summer. I listened to Jacksonās game this afternoon. They won 2 games, so Iām sure they will be in the championship tomorrow. He got an over the fence home run! Woohoo!!
Amy: Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday! Fried chicken sounds yummy!
Carole: Yay for staying AF!
Jan: Hope by now you have hugged your boy good and tight!
Liz: Sorry you are still sick! I hope the meds help!
Murphy: Iām glad you checked in! Iām going to sit and read for a bit!

We are running a bit low on vegetables and dairy so may need to go shopping tomorrow or have some things delivered.
I will try to catch up with everyone tomorrow...if there is internet
