I attended a virtual WW meeting this week, tracked, weighed and measured, kept up with my online support groups, and meditated. I am grateful that my husband and myself are still healthy.

Monday, 05/17 When it comes to eating might there be times when you think something will be better than it turns out to be? This is from a Beck blog I posted a couple of weeks ago. The idea being that sometimes the idea of eating something ends up being better than the actual experience. Do you eat things because the idea of eating seems do good but after eating the item you don’t feel the item was worth it?

This can happen to me with sweets. I sometimes obsess about having a cupcake or a piece of cake, then once I have it I think: What was the big deal? Now I'm pretty good about remembering this and it cuts down on me eating sweets.

My goals for this week is to keep tracking and weighing and measuring, attending a virtual WW meeting, keep up with my online groups, and meditate. My me-time is my computer, puzzle, reading, and meditation time. Speaking of virtual WW meetings: in my meeting this week one of the participants mentioned that with their latest loss they had lost one half of their body weight.

Eating something that sounds better than it is - yes I do this often. My dilemma in this type of situation is whether or not to finish the item or to trash it. Most of the time I just keep eating it until I've eaten the whole thing. And then I get annoyed at myself for doing that. Goals - keep tracking and working to stay within my points. Last week I went over by a little bit - not too badly. bbbearsmom, that's a lot of weight to lose - glad she told about it at the meeting.

Wednesday, 05/18 Do you miss any foods or drinks from your pre-weight management journey?

No I don't. I usually can fit in a craving if I plan it so there's nothing I can't have in a limited quantity. I might miss just mindlessly eating, not having to think about what and how much I'm eating, but the outcome of me mindlessly eating was me being obese.

I eat and drink everything I did before but in much smaller quantities and frequency. In some ways I miss not limiting those things. But then again - I remind myself about what the result of unlimited intake was and can be again.

Thursday, 05/20 Does the country of origin influence your decision of buying a food? This is my husband’s topic. I don’t pay attention to country of origin and don’t give it much thought. I am aware that produce is often from another country, but my husband pointed out to me that often fish is from other countries (Chilean Bass, I’ve heard that most shrimp it from Vietnam, my husband’s sardines are from Morocco), and I guess we also get some beef from other countries). He also made the point that there might be people that only buy pasta from Italy. The other day he noticed his dried apricots were from Turkey.

As I posted I usually don't pay attention where the food I buy is from. I have noticed that some of the frozen fruit I buy is from other countries. Come to think of it bananas are from other countries too. I can't think of a country of origin that would keep me from buying a food.

How important do you think it is to understand the importance of delayed gratification versus instant gratification when it comes to your weight management journey?
