This thread is for all of us who have been on the weight loss merry-go-round quite a few times. We have banded together to make this our FINAL time. We offer support & motivation, WEIGHT LOSS TIPS, food ideas – whatever you need to make it your FINAL time. If you start the day’s thread, please copy and paste this paragraph, with the following 2021 Goals:
Carole: 1.) Journal Daily, thoughts, feelings, ideas 2.) Track daily, Good, Bad, Ugly, HONESTLY 3.) Move every day, 10-30 minutes, as able 4.) Limit/Reduce Alcohol, All of it! 5.) Be thankful for something - every day.
Gabrielle 1. Wellness--take steps each day to address better wellness (moving, attention to my eating, getting sleep, etc.) 2. Debt-- continue to take steps to eliminate debt (including the kids college debt that we are covering) so that I have no debt when I retire. 3. Connectedness-- each month have a plan to stay connected to those who I care about (maybe dinner once/month after COVID, Zoom, phone calls, etc.) 4. Creativity -- seek out projects that keep me using the creative side of my brain (knitting, paint parties?, etc.) 5. Journaling/Self-Awareness--find a way to journal my thoughts and to think through challenges and opportunities
Sue: 1. Get moving - plan to utilize my Cubii 3-5 times per week at least 2. Moderation - limiting junk, snacks, wine and all things I know that sabotage my success 3. Daily Gratitude - continue our November daily gratitude. 4. Start a journal - my "Life & Apples" journal will arrive later in the week. 5. Be more "present" - in life, in my journey, with family & friends, in all aspects of my world.
Jenny 1) I'm moving to a clean eating plan like more veggie dishes and less red meat 2) I pulled out my Bob Harper from the Biggest Loser's " Yoga for weight loss DVD" and do that in the evening since it's pouring down rain here. 3) Cut way back on the wine at nights, they sell those tiny little bottles that have 5oz in them and limit myself to only 1-2 per day, that can work right? 4) Track everything even if I'm in the negatives and hold myself accountable
Christine: 1. Cardio exercise daily (walk, stationary bike) 2. FOLLOW the WW Plan using Honesty. 3. Daily gratitude - Say something NICE each morning
Karen: 1. Take one step at a time and be kind to myself. 2. Move by getting my kayak on the water at least one day per week... it will be more as the weather warms. 3. Stick to my intermittent fasting schedule. 4. Try to sleep reasonably.
Shelly: 1. Be more organized at work. Never leave with stuff on my desk 2. Be there for people when they need someone to lean on 3. Stick with WW plan!!! No matter what!!!! 4. Be a better influence on those around me.

Keep.It.Simple.Sunday - We all need a day of SIMPLICITY in our hectic lives! Maybe a day to re-group, and refocus? Maybe a day of self-care, and R&R? I have a lot going on here, but it will be a SIMPLE day of unboxing - carrying - purging - and hauling! Not much "thinking" or "stress"! We got so much done yesterday, and yet I feel like we didn't even make a dent in it! LOL That's me - always thinking of what didn't get done, instead of being happy with what DID get done!
Today we hit the attic - so extra steps, and need to get up there before it gets too darned HOT to be working up there!! Tim helped get a few heavier things out after dinner last night - so that was very helpful.

Sue: So glad the massage was good ~ Someday I will have to get one "just because"! LOL I have only had them when I was in pain, so never did get the whole "relaxed" feeling from them!
YAY for stocking up on the healthier things you need. I will have to be creative this week, as we have zero produce in this house! LOL I will stop on my way home tomorrow
I missed 1 dot yesterday, but over 5k steps for the day! Just shy of 6k, but didn't have it in me to "walk" anymore! I noticed when I was already in bed, so I could not bring myself to get back up for those 221 (?) steps.
The girls said they would come up Friday this coming week - up to them... if they change their minds, it's OK - either way. Jaclyn thinks it's a good idea, since she has her 2nd shot late Thursday, she'd be happy to have Eden here, if she has a reaction. We'll see.
It's weird ~ As long as I have been saying I want to be "mask-free", now that it's coming, I am not sure I am "ready"! LOL Maybe because we still have the girls (too young for vaccines) and I work with people that are not vaccinated. Since employers "can't" ask who is and who isn't getting it, I think we all pay the price? Baker is making a decision on his stance this week, so I guess time will tell!
Well most of what we are getting rid of is Tracy's stuff (I think). We do not have many choices of places to donate anyway, let alone during Covid! It's very frustrating! Then there is stuff like the old ceiling fan. When we replaced that - we have no where to dump the old one! So over the years, as we do things like that, we have to hang on to the old, until we can get rid of it!

OK Time to get moving here - before it gets too warm/hot to want to be hauling anything! Hoping to get Tracy up in the attic shortly, since it is mostly her stuff we are tossing this time! Like I said, when she moved home, we stored all of her old, 2nd hand, used/abused stuff, so it's time to get it out. If she moves out she wouldn't want it all in her new place anyway. At this point she can well afford to have matching dishes! LOL She also has a lot of text books up there, and since she has been out of school for 17 years, those books are too old for anyone to find useful! LOL
So KEEP IT SIMPLE ladies, we all need a break - so today is the day!
Oh and it's National Mimosa Day! LOL Nope, no mimosas in the hot tub this morning - need to get started upstairs sooner, rather than later ♥hugs♥

Good Morning!! Yesterday I nearly finished all my reports. One left from April. So I feel very FREE right now! I also spent some time emailing work and parents to set up next Friday's last test session for Remote Only students. A lot of moving parts but I think we are in the final stages there. I spent a lot of time outside yesterday (Yay!)...swept and cleaned the front porch, had Carly carry the rocking chairs from basement to porch for me, and cleaned those off. All set! Then I swept out the garage, and tackled the back deck. For some reason the deck got bombed by birds and there are no trees hanging over it - how did that happen! lol So I used my leftover deck cleaner from last summer and scrubbed it off. The cleanser did not really do much - hmmm, I wonder if I diluted it too much or it was 'old'. My scrubbing did plenty and now I feel it's ready for the outdoor furniture. Temps are still very cool here (high of 60s) so I'm not too worried I didn't get the furniture out back set up yet. Today after Ben's Graduation gathering I will finish packing and hit the road. I bought a Balloon Bouquet for his Party room Gary and I plan to take Ben out for a nice dinner to celebrate but Carly's server job at the Brewery is causing us scheduling issues. I told her to let me know when she's free! We went out to the Brewery last night - I usually get their grilled chicken. Yummers. Today I slept in a bit (6:30) and feel pretty good.

Carole - you did good! Wow wow wow to feeling less bloated and looser fitting pants! Please share that carbs tracker again I think it's great you guys are focused on purging the attic and basement. We were like Sue, just didn't have much to put in the dumpster when we had the BR remodel. BUT my basement is stuffed with the Girls' dorm and college apartment things! I told Carly already she MUST go shopping down there for her new apartment with Ben. Otherwise, Linds and I are donating it! Oh, yes, Carly and Ben did find a great apartment/townhouse. It's not really a townhouse but it is 2 bedroom. The 2nd bedroom is more like a loft. The pictures look a lot like what I rented with a roommate as young adult so we are happy for them. Now they just need to secure it - she's been emailing the Manager of the complex back and forth trying to figure out how to do this. The unit will not be available until August which is right about when she needs it (sooner would have been better) but they will let her know if another one opens before August. Since Carly will be working Extended School Year here (July) she is relieved not to travel just yet. Plus Ben has to finish his internship this summer. That was always the plan for him - he can walk the stage today but he's not finished until after the internship. He is doing the marketing and PR for a local Social Service agency. Oh, and yes, he has 2 job leads out there - one of his professors he is close with (they are now fishing buddies) referred him to a cyber college that has a home base near where their apartment might be - they need help in Marketing - so that's one option. The other is for a franchise hair salon/barber for marketing/PR.

Good morning ladies! We're hoping that life is returning to a normal crazy end of the school year now that Emily is stabilized and Miss Eleanor is here and doing great! She is in the NICU for some period of time, and we're planning on 2 or so weeks. Emily's blood pressures are in the normal range and they're beginning to back her down off of the various meds that they used to keep her safe. It has been touch and go for a while, but we're so thankful to be on this side of it!
I will get caught up... eventually!

I was practicing Intermittent Fasting (15-16 hours) and really increased my walking/steps per day. Nada. I gained 2 lbs. LOL Whatever.
I was having Greek nonfat plain yogurt with fresh raspberries for 'break fast', then hummus, carrots/cucumbers/apple slices with pulled chicken (grilled or rotisserie) and my counted out organic tortilla chips for lunch. Hmmm...I did this since April 15 (the start of testing season at work). My downfall, and I mean downfall, is the wine each evening. Although it's 'only' 2 glasses of wine measured out in my WW wine cooler, it leads to mindless grazing. So THAT's not working obviously.
Sue - we are the same here with the Masks. Some stores (locally owned) are allowing us to go Mask Free but OH the glares I got when I did that!!! lol I wanted to shout, "Read the sign on the door people!" but no one pays attention to signs on the door. We were laughing about this last night at the Brewery where they too are Mask Free if vaccinated. No one was really practicing it yet, but then maybe that age group is not fully vaccinated? It's a very funny feeling to walk around without a mask. I carried one with me and did wear it if there's a sign on the door - like grocery store. I'm glad your TX trip was worth it for you to see for yourself how your mom is doing. Not surprised Jim and Annie are in denial. But then, it was odd how the move to TX came about with so much secrecy and backdoor moves. I agree, no 16 year old should be playing with action figures and role playing with toy guns. Not being judgmental, but if I saw Michael I would immediately think he's Developmentally Delayed or on the Autism Spectrum. Their choice to allow him to act this way (and encourage it from what you describe). Would they be 'allowed' to get part time jobs outside of the home? Working with other young adults might help both 'grow up' but then, sounds like Annie would not let that happen.

Gabrielle - how did Ed do on his long run yesterday? Hope you had time to just enjoy your empty house and get done what you wanted to do! I love days like that! I saw a FB post by one of my friends who is a Therapist and it said, "Being productive is necessary but so is taking time to RECHARGE. Don't apologize for relaxing. Your body needs it." So yes, I will certainly follow her advice!! I make it known to this family that 3:00 on most weekends the LR couch is MINE! Not today though. I plan to start the 4 hour drive this afternoon. I am really looking forward to the end of our school year - May is always a busy time of year but this year it's doubled and tripled because of the Hybrid schedule, then 4 days a week plus Remote Fridays for students, or Remote Only - it's like working two separate schools. And very difficult to figure it all out. But it will all come together. Carly and Ben's 'hopeful' apartment will be in Butler, PA about an hour & half drive one way. Carly is nervous because her school assignments will be further North and 45 min drive one way (the farthest school building from this apartment) but Ben will also have a 30 - 45 minute drive if he gets a job in Cranberry/Pittsburgh areas. I assured her, even if she lived at home and secured a job in our area, she would STILL be driving 45 min one way to her destination schools as that's the nature of her position. There are NO large cities besides Pittsburgh and us this part of the State. It's ALL rural school districts and tiny towns. I think that helps her feel better. Karen - HOORAY and CONGRATULATIONS GRANDMA!!! I love the pictures of Eleanor - she looks so healthy and WOW no way is she a tiny 3 lbs. - she looks wonderful!!!! So good to hear your Girl Emily is healthy too! Love this!!Thank you for keeping us posted! Jenny - I saw you pop in! I'm so glad Audrey is able to have a more normal Graduation and end of high school. This summer will be super busy for you helping her get ready for College!! Love it!! Waves to Shelly and Nadine and anyone else I may have missed - gotta get this day moving!

Good morning!
I slept in this morning (YAHOO) and really needed it--well, got up at 4:00 am to feed the dogs, but fell back asleep. I promised my mom to help her with some things at 9:00 am so will do that and that grocery store run. I couldn't believe how tired I was after that run yesterday --- wow. No real in-depth decluttering got done---oh well! DH had an okay run...it was in the mountains and there was hail, thunder, and lightening so that made it exciting. I can tell that he is looking forward to some recovery weeks in June.
Carole: Wow, I am so happy that you are finding some adjustments that work for you! What a great feeling to be wearing those pants! I find that, if I eat too many carbs, not only do I feel "bloated", it is almost like my joints ache more---like everything is slightly inflamed. I am SO glad for you!! Oh, and you know that I am jealous of the dumpster, LOL. Well, I am sorry that Ken's cortisone shot only helped for a short period of time. I remember once when I was having shoulder trouble the orthopedist said that they would inject with cortisone (which they did) and, if it didn't help, then that ruled out some things that were causing the pain. Ultimately it lead to PT and some other things and that all worked. Hope that DH's doctor responds in some way! That will be nice to have the girls on Friday with Tracy there...maybe a fun movie night? I just seems like it will be more special when it is not every weekend. Hope that you have a good, productive day --- and don't forget to drink that water!
Sue: How great to get your weekend started with the grocery trip--and be able to plan out your meals and all. Here in CA, some businesses are not requiring masks but people are still wearing them. At Trader Joe's yesterday-- no masks required but everyone had one on. I guess that, if it is inside and not a big deal, why not? Especially if I worked there! I guess that I do it for others just in case? I don't know. I think that outside is different or somewhere not crowded. No word yet of removing the requirement at work---we need Cal OSHA's blessing first. It will be nice for you though because your work is more physical than mine. Hope that you have a good day!

Good morning Christine! Love reading about you getting your outdoor areas ready to go---we know how much you love and use them. Hey, how is the yard where that place did the work to deal with the "swampiness" ---was it last year or the year before? I remember that some of DH's co-workers were questioning what the contractor wanted to do and it was really frustrating...still holding up? I hope so! I know that you put a lot of thought into it. Wow, the testing situation is SO tricky this year---still aiming for 95% participation and that makes it tough! Yes, you will EARN your less-stressful days coming up! I feel like I am spending time every single day calming down superintendents and others...it is really starting to get draining---can't wait for some calmer days. How exciting and Carly and Ben found a place! And I love that it is reminiscent of your past---makes me smile. Have a fun celebration today! I appreciate your words of support for taking care of ourselves----always a good reminder!
Karen: Eleanor is BEAUTIFUL! And so happy that Emily's BP is more regular now. Does she live close to the hospital so that she can go there easily to care for Eleanor during those two weeks before she is released? I hope so! So excited for you
Hello to Jenny, Shelly, Nadine, and all who follow. Have a great day and I am going to do my best to keep it simple!!

Good Morning
I went to my WW meeting and was down 1# yesterday. We talked about strength training that the WW app has, so we all need to pick one and do it this week. I need to figure out which one I'm going to do. The habits book is pretty interesting but so far pretty basic. He talks about motivation to do the things you do to loose the weight, that's where I'm at now, I need to find the motivation.
I did get some flowers planted yesterday and watered the lawn, yes I already have to start watering cause were in a drought already but they say it's going to rain some this week which we do need.
I found out my niece is having twin boy's yesterday. They put up a video on FB yesterday. I'm so happy for her, she has been wanting a baby for about 10 years now and with invetro she's finally getting her babies.
OK need to get some breakfast started and then it's off to mow the lawn and clean off the patio with my new power washer.
Have a great day
Jenny
