Thanks, Ann.
I finished the next to the last Clare/Russ book by Julia Spencer-Fleming and am going to order the next. In the meantime, I started listening to THE FOUR WINDS by Kristin Hannah. I was thinking she writes about so many different topics. But I think they all have strong women at their core.

Well, I am getting pretty far into THE FOUR WINDS by Kristin Hannah and so far, the main female character is NOT strong. I hope a change is coming!
My book club today had a wonderful discussion about FREE THINKER: SEX, SUFFRAGE, AND THE EXTRAORDINARY LIFE OF HELEN HAMILTON GARDENER by Kimberly A Hamlin. The book is so good that three of our group's members are going to buy copies for their granddaughters. It is a biography of the woman who was most responsible for getting President Wilson to support the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote. Fascinating woman, well-written book. I highly recommend it.

The Helen Hamilton Gardener book sounds fabulous, Gail! I think I'll order a copy for all of us to read this summer.
I finished The Midnight Library and am glad I read it, food for thought. I've already critiqued it and my opinions haven't changed so I'll leave it at that.
Now I can start Half Finished.
I'm working all day at our library book sale today so may find some treasures there.

Read LATER by Stephen King in one sitting and loved it,. Later is because he mentions something and then says more on that 'later" Or will get back to that 'later" . but it fits so well in the story told by this young man that you just smile and wait for it. Does that make sense? it did to me. A bit of a ghost story and I honesty will recommend it to anyone even to someone who is doesn't much care about Kings book.
I am now catching up on Iris Johansen THE PERSUASION. which is an Eve Duncan series book, This one is a plot of danger for Eve and Joe's adopted daughter Jane a gifted artist . and a love story for Jane and Seth ( who is Jane's strongest ally and a fierce protector) who Eve and Joe picked to watch over Jane.
My copy of THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY should be here Tuesday. I was not a fan of FOUR WINDS. was a bit disappointed in me and Kristin Hannah

Just started in on my Christmas stash of books, with the BOOK OF TWO WAYS.
Got as far as page 40 and started to look up old boyfriends. Oh my, they are all getting older or not being at all. (I never age of course) Think I will stick with looking up Egyptology.
Annsanse- you mentioned Ruth Stout, haven't heard her mentioned in decades. Salt hay and gardening in the all together. She loved the sun and her garden.

What a great time at the book sale talking to people about BOOKS!!!!! People went out with bags full of books. I bought the BIG Gourmet magazine cookbook and had a delightful conversation with another cookbook collector who is also in my book group. We agreed that we should have a cookbook night. However, several of our members don't cook, just go out to restaurants. That would kill me in so many ways! I also bought a book I've read twice, but loaned it out and didn't get it back, The Dirty Life. It is about a journalist who is assigned an interview with an organic farmer...they develop a "meaningful" relationship, great story.
Anneavece, looking forward to your comments on The Book of Two Ways.
Connie: I talked to a woman who just finished Four Winds and said she is never reading another Kristen Hannah book again because they are too depressing.
