Ruth, sounds like a great plan to find a less pricey alternative to the pattern DGD asked for. Honestly as long as it’s pretty close, and I am sure your pattern is, she will not notice the difference. The only way I would pay that much for a pattern, would be if it was a pattern that I would use many times and might want to “get my money’s worth” out of. Guess a well written pattern is worth it.
I worked this am- and stayed to make a video of myself to keep up my state teaching license. (Who ever would have thought that there is so much to driving a school bus?) Got DD heading over for dinner this evening. And its getting hot here. Wonder how long I will be able to stay comfortable without wanting the air conditioner on.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well Ruth - I'm glad you were able to find a free pattern to use for that project. Ginny - There sure does seem to be a lot of requirements to remain certified to drive a bus - I guess that's a good thing Hope you enjoy dinner with your DD this evening. Thanks for the link to the Disappearing Hourglass quilt. It is a pretty quilt and easy to make. I used that method she shows to make my hourglass blocks last year for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. It's been very hot here, and I'm also trying to see how long I can last without setting up the air conditioners. I hope I can hold out until the end of the month. I haven't done any quilting or crafting, but I have been looking at patterns and pictures on the internet, so I might find something to work on. Hope you are all finding something to do. Take care everyone!

Ginny, enjoy your time with your dd.
CJ, looking thru patterns is a good thing to do and will inspire you.
I went out shopping again today this time alone. I went into walmart for a quick pickup of aspirin and other things in their pharmacy dept then quick look at yarn except it took me forever to find the yarn because there's such a small section of it now. I couldn't find cotton yarn in the colors that dgd wants in her tote and waterbottle carrier but I'm sure she'll like it anyway. Then to the grocery store to get things we couldn't find yesterday.
Now dh is cooking something.
Found out dgd is being induced on the 25th but not till 7pm so that will probably be a night that I'll be up all night waiting for him to be born. I should probably take the things I made for her over to my dd's house early next week

Ruth, congrats on getting a concrete date of birth for the little fellow!!! Do you have everything ready that you wanted to make for him? How is DGD feeling?
CJ- I have 2 additional certifications added to my license that involve extra work....most drivers do not. But I enjoy teaching new drivers so even though its work, I do not usually mind it too much. Hope you can hold out without having to put on the AC. I hear we have a few hot days coming.....trying hard not to think about it too much.
Great to see Dd-nice dinner. And for now,its a cool evening until it gets hot and humid. G

Ginny, I'm glad you had a nice evening with your daughter. I'm sure there's way more to learning about driving a school bus than most people think. It sure involves a lot more than just driving. I imagine there's a lot on how to handle situations that come up with children of various ages for one thing. Personally I can't even imagine driving something that big plus all those children in one vehicle would be way to much for me to deal with.
The only thing I have left to do for dggs' things is to close up the top of a hat and then wrap everything. Oh and I also want to finish the hat I have partially done that's a little bit larger because I don't know how big his head is going to be and the hat I made (which is the one I need to close the top of) is pretty small.
I did get the pocket shawl done except I do have three ends to weave in which I'll do tomorrow. I brought the yarn downstairs with me to start the last one but now I've decided I want to save that yarn for another pattern so I'll look through my yarn tomorrow and pick put another for that last shawl. It's going to be another V stitch one so will go fast. It's a different pattern than the V stitch I made before.
I hope you're all sleeping soundly and will wake all nice and refreshed.
It was quite hot here today but now we'll have a few days of 60's temps.

Found a really cute and easy to make casserole carrier in my magazine. Ruth and CJ, I just took a picture of the directions and emailed it to both of you. It would make a great quick and easy gift, perfect for someone who participates in a lot of church pot luck dinners and brings casseroles from home. I figured I would email it to both of you, this is this months issue of the magazine and I feel a bit guilty putting this adorable craft out there in our thread just now.

My outdoor thermometer says its 92- cell phone says 86. Either way its hot. As the nights have been pleasant, I am doing fine with out the AC on. Tomorrow might be another story however.. It was pretty pleasant this am- nice breeze and reasonably cool.
I am tired, could have slept better and more last night. Hope that I can sleep well tonight. Gosh, I have been up for almost 12 hours now, no wonder why I am tired.
think regarding how to drive a bus, a person learns the first 30% of the job for the road test and the other 70% in real life experience. It sure is a lot more than just driving a bus, much more.
Gonna go cut the fabric for the binding binding for the baby quilt. Gotta reinspire myself to get back to work on that. Ginny

It's entirely different weather wise here from yesterday. It's cold and gloomy with no sun and so cloudy with low cloud cover so that you can't even see the mountain.
DH finished his soup he started making yesterday. It looks very healthy. He put in a lot of veggies and it has quite a bit of meat also. Perfect for a day like this.
Yep, I think you better get that binding on. I hope it's an easy process. That casserole carrier is really nice. I don't go to potlucks myself but probably my son and his family do so they would be perfect people to make it for. Thank you for sending the directions. It looks like it works for both carrying the casserole and keeping it warm also.
Gotta go and pick some yarn for the second and last pocket shawl then get busy making it. Have either of you ever crocheted with macrame cotton thread. I saw some on Herrschnerr's site and it looks like it would be great for totes and water bottle carriers. It's a #4 yarn/thread.

Hello Ginny - Thanks for sending the email with information about the casserole carrier. Hope you sleep well tonight. Ruth - Hope you enjoy the soup your DH made, it does sound like a perfect meal for your weather. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's very hot here too, and sunny and dry. I've put up window darkening coverings on the windows that get most of the direct afternoon sunlight and hopefully that will help some. If I was just able to turn on some AC I would do it. But I have to set up a window unit in my bedroom and a portable unit downstairs that I have to set up and take down each day because I can't leave it in place due to the window needing to be open. So I'm trying to make it with just fans until I absolutely have to set those things up I've been looking at quilting patterns to see if there is something I might want to do. Pat Sloan has another quilt along starting in July that I might think about participating in. I really liked the quilt tutorials from MSQC that came out today. I have the smaller tumbler template and I'm tempted to try one of the quilts. I really like the large template too, but I'll have to think about buying it. Here's a link to the video if you're interested: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bR92uyFLhggTake care everyone!

Ruth, I have never used macrame crochet cotton...so I cannot offer an opinion. Hope that Dh enjoyed his soup! Yes I sent that casserole carrier craft along figuring that DDIL would probably be able to use one (and it gives you another easy gift to make for her!). I love the idea and though that it was a great gift. Checking back, I think the macrame cotton thread would probably be perfect for bags and water bottle covers. Does Herrscheners have a live chat option on their web site? Perhaps you can ask.
CJ- smart move putting up black out curtains to keep the heat out. I know the decision to take out the air conditioners is a struggle, you do not want to be uncomfortable but also they block light and take up space. That tumbler quilt is neat! Not sure that I would make one of them, but would love to see what you do with it. Thanks for sharing the link.
Got the binding cut for the quilt.....so I just have to connect the pieces and get busy sewing. Did a bit of crocheting on the shrug last night too. G

Good morning my wonderful crafting friends.
Ginny, I hope you got some good sleep last night. Now that the fabric for the binding is all cut you're ready to sew. I hope it all goes very well. You'll have the shrug done by next winter when you need it to keep your shoulders warm.
CJ, I really like that red, white, and blue tumber quilt. It looks like a fun one to make except for those templates. I don't know much about templates but you must have to cut around them? I didn't watch the whole video yet.
Just tried to get into my email but for some reason stupid microsoft wanted me to put in my password. So I put in what I thought was my password and they claimed it not correct. so I went throught the steps (the maze?) they make you go through and they said I was all set now to use it. I tried to use it and they wanted my password again!!!!! nowhere was there any code or anything to use. Then they said I had changed my security info so now I can't use my email until they update my security info on 6/21/21. well luckily it still works on my other laptop so when dh wakes up I can get that one. I think he's up now.

Ok I'm somehow guest again. Maybe because I'm using a different computer but they are supposed to be synched with each other.
I can get into my email with this one. And stupid Microsoft send me an email that I couldn't get into. Yes I have this other laptop but they wouldn't know that so why send an email to an email account that you just blocked me out of?
I did finish that pocket shawl and am working on the last one. I didn't do the v stitch after all. I'm doing a filet crochet pattern that is actually a pattern for a table runner it's called double diamonds and it's repeats allows for making it into this shawl. I didn't even have to alter it in any way except to make it longer oh I made the first end though in all hdc's for about 9 inches to turn it up for pockets and just now I realized while typing that, that it should have been 18 inches. Well I'll just go back when I'm done with the length and add onto it. These diamonds make too large of holes so don't make for good pockets

Happy Saturday!!! I slept ok- just wish I had slept a bit longer. Ruth -so Glad that you finished the pocket shawl. Sounds like this new pattern for the next package all is going to be very pretty. Of course you would know best how to figure it out so that it’s just the right size and that the pocket holes are not too big.
I had a busy day, took my youngest to a wedding. The wedding was two hours upstate. A very simple but pretty ceremony. And I did not want her going by herself because she’s in the last month of her pregnancy.
It’s nice to be home

Ruth, as I just attempted to open my email , I thought of your email issues. My email is slow to respond these days and even refuses to send an email to a friend of mine. It consistently will not send email to her, just plain stopped doing so about a month ago. makes no sense to me. So I am useless at helping to debug your issues and why a password does not automatically synch to another device. From my limited research online about my email issues there is some wisdom online regarding it, but not all of it makes sense. We are glad you are here, whether as a guest or not.
Wish I had slept better last night, but honestly, the weather is going to be a factor for 5 months and I really do like it better when its cold at night. Think I will work on the baby quilt today...and just relax. Looks like they have adjusted the forecast here so its not quite so harsh. Its still going to be warm but not as hot. Guess I will try to get a short walk in this am, not that I want to but I do not want to walk in the heat.
