ok, we've been outdoor working on the dreaded yard work. Sky began to cloud over and we had thunder and lightening and a while later is rained really hard for about 3 minutes. There's a lot more to be done in the yard and of course inside the house too but the rest of my day is going to be spent crocheting and in between washing dishes and folding the clothes I tossed in the washer then dryer. Actually got some things accomplished today

Good evening all- Phyl. So sorry that you were not able to hear the speaker at guild. I hope that what she did bring to show was at least stimulating or inspiring.... its so good to hear that you are starting have more normal guild functions and sew days.. That is encouraging for sure.
CJ- I am glad that your airconditioners are in and in use, if the weather is hot like it is you might as well be safe and stay comfortable. I have done bindings by machine and by hand. Honestly, the hand finished ones are nicer, but for some projects finishing by machine is both practical and makes more sense. I am curious to see how you feel about the process and finishing by machine.
Ruth- DGD must be so frustrated as she waits for room in the hospital to be induced. Yes i think we all figured that there would be a bunch of pandemic babies...I will continue to pray for her and her little one.
Actually a good day of babysitting. The kids were pretty good and I enjoyed the day with them.

CJ, I'm glad you're seeing more patterns and fabrics that will inspire you and I do think that it's a good idea to get some of the bindings on to practice that. Each one you do will be better.
I thought they had changed my dgd to 7pm tonight but no, it's tomorrow at 7pm. Soon she'll just go into labor on her own and they'll have to find her a room
Phyl, I don't even remember if I said I'm sorry that your visit to the quilting meeting was so disappointing.
I'm nearly finished with the body of the last pocket shawl and then will just have to do the edging which won't take long. I might even get it done tonight but I doubt it.
Ginny, I'm glad the grandchildren were good for you and that the little fellow must be feeling better.

Phyl- I wonder with the pandemic if your guild is having difficulty finding speakers for the special meetings? Just a thought. I do know my local guild has not started meeting normally yet - and an out of state friend had also had the same difficulty. Guess it will be awhile before normal returns. Do you plan on attending the sew day?
Ruth, well that is one way of looking at it- if DGD goes into labor, well then they are going to have to admit her no matter what. So if all goes as planned, DGD will go in tonight and the little one, Lord willing, will be born quickly. Prayers for a fast labor and that everyone is healthy.
As hot and humid as yesterday was, today is a really nice day. Nice breeze and low humidity. Perfect. I know I am in for rain this weekend, so I will enjoy what is here now. Think I am heading up to HL tomorrow with my friend- gotta find a good craft to do with the grandkids who will be here Saturday night. Were you able to try out that machine finishing technique for bindings?

Well as far as I know they haven't put my dgd off again so dggs#3 should be here at least by tomorrow morning.
I went shopping again...last went last Thurs...and went alone again. It goes so much faster that way and dh doesn't end up a nervous wreck.
My oldest brother posted on FB today to my dd telling her that he saved her life when she was a baby. She used to stay at my mother's house while I was working and he said she was in the living room by herself and as he walked in she was putting a nickel into her mouth and started to choke so he turned up upside down and wacked her back and the nickel thankfully came out. I never knew about that. They didn't tell me. It's just scary knowing that my baby could have died. I'm so thankful that God sent him into that room at just the right time!!

Hello Everyone Ruth - I hope everything goes well for your DGD and the baby. That has to be frustrating the way they keep delaying it. Wow - what a scary story about your DD. I'm so glad your DB was there to save her Ginny - I'm glad you are having a nice weather day. Hope you can find something at HL to do as a craft with the grandkids. Phyl - Hope you can get things ready so you can go to Sew Day. Sue - Hope you are well. It's been hot here. We had some rain yesterday, but it's sunny today. The air conditioners are really helping, so I'm glad I went ahead and set them up. I went to JoAnn's yesterday since I was out running errands. The fabric selection is really getting smaller each time I go there. I was looking for a few specific colors of fabrics and didn't find them. I did pick up some white and some cream fabric, since I like to use them for background fabrics. And I bought a package of batting and a gallon of Best Press liquid starch. I was also looking to buy some black machine piecing thread and I thought I had bought it but when I got home the spool I picked up with Bold Hand Quilting thread. I was disappointed since I'm working on a quilt that has black background fabric. I don't know if the thread was in the wrong location or I just didn't check to make sure I was pulling it from the right row. I'll just have to make do with another thread because I'm not going back there anytime soon. I started cutting the fabric for the Wiggle Time quilt and I have fabric for the bindings on the two quilts I want to work on, so hopefully I can get to those projects this weekend. Take care everyone!

Hobby Lobby recently had 40% off on children's crafts. I think it's 50% off now so I hope you find some that your dgc will love to do. It's great that the humidity is down. Dh and I can't take humidity now that we've lived here for so long and it really is not comfortable for anyone so I'm happy for you. I think it's not supposed to be good weather here either for the weekend
CJ, yes it seems as though a lot of places are cutting down on fabric and yarn. Evidentally the Walmart here near my home got rid of their fabric dep't completely and I'd bet they will get rid of yarn too since, now, they have such a small selection.I noticed they do have packs of fat quarters. I'm glad you have the fabric for the wiggle quilt but it's sure disappointing when you get home and find that you accidentally bought the wrong thread. I hope you have another that will work. We don't have a Joann's here so I don't know much about them. We have a Michael's but I've never been there and I haven't been to Hobby Lobby for a couple years. I did like HL's fabric back when I bought some from them which was even longer that the couple years.

Good morning! Ruth, I hope that by now your great grandson is born and your granddaughter is feeling well. It’s a special time in the hospital after giving birth to you first when you can just focus on your little baby and starting to feel more like yourself again. I hope the hospital spoils her, and just takes really good care of her for the next day. I know hospital stays are severely short now with Covid. I’m glad that you got out shopping by yourself, I’m sure it’s nice to have DH with you sometimes but also just to be able to get out and get done what you need to accomplished without the stress is also a blessing. Thank you for sharing the story about your brother say saving your daughters life. God‘s timing is just so perfect, and your brother was there at the right place at the right time many years ago. Thanks for the heads up on hobby lobby, I’ve been looking through their flyer online and I don’t know what I’m gonna do this morning when I get up there. I might just opt to make another food craft then the kids can eat it immediately and there’s not more junk going into their house. And yes, I love that Walmart now sells fat quarters - they are limited in what they sell but for a simple small project, its so easy to have precut fabric.
Phil. I hope that you were able to go go to your sew day-i’m sure it will be nice to be able to get out and spend some time in a manner that begins to feel normal. Do you know what you’re going to be working on when you get downstairs and start to look at sewing again? Have any plans for this memorial day weekend?
CJ, that is so frustrating that the wrong thread managed to find its way back to your house. Joanns is not always as well organized as they could be. And i’m sure there are people that look at two threads and then just put one back anywhere instead of returning it to the proper slot in the thread rack. Glad you put your air conditioner in, and I do hope the cooler temperatures are headed your way. It just seems awfully early in the year to have a lot of heat and be this warm. I hope you enjoy working on the wiggle time quilt, and love the fabrics that you’ve chosen to use for it!
I’m gonna get some gardening done this morning, and then come in and take a shower. One of the reasons I hate gardening is because we have to deal with deer ticks here. And then at some point today I’ll head out to Hobby lobby. Looks like I’m in for a cool and rainy weekend which really does not bother me. I do have to get back to the baby quilt but I might have to close up My machine and all my selling supplies, as I just don’t want the kids to get into it and make a mess. I’m not worried about the eight-year-old, I am concerned about the five-year-old and a three-year-old we’re just good kids but my tend to think that some of my unique looking sewing supplies would be fun to play with but of course our much needed tools for quilting. Have a great day all!

They didn't do much to induce her labor throught the night and this morning when the doctor came in she was not happy that they hadn't started pitocin. They started it and the baby is now here in the world. I'm very thankful. He's about 6lbs. Her due date was actually June 3rd I believe to he's just a little early so would have been a little bit heavier if she had waited but he's fine so all is well.Thank you for all your prayers and kind thoughts
I other laptop is downstairs again so can't get into email so I guess I'll just sit and crochet. Long story on the pocket shawl. I'm revising part which entails taking some out of the starting end which is not an easy task. I just hope it works and doesn't mess up the whole thing.

Hello Ginny - I hope that you were able to get your gardening done and had a successful shopping trip to HL. Ruth - Congratulations on the new baby in your family. I'm glad to hear everything went well. It's cooler here today and we're getting some rain. Looks like the weekend will be cool with rain too. I started sewing pieces for the Wiggle Time quilt and I'm liking the way it will look. I'm using some fabrics that I've had for many years and have always wanted to use, so I hope they will look good once his quilt is done. I also pieced some strips for the binding on a small sample quilt. I hope to sew it on this weekend and see if I like attaching them all by machine, front and back. I liked the quilt that MSQC had today in their weekly video, but I'd like to do it in different fabrics. Here's a link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5fadqBf7rsHope you all get to do some crafting this weekend and that you have a good one

Ginny, yes deer ticks are a huge problem and can cause serious illness not only Lyme disease. If you see any on your body you know what to do...talk to your doctor. Did you find great things at Hobby Lobby?
CJ I really like that wiggle quilt. I think I've already said that and that I've never seen one before. I do love looking at quilts! I'm going to check that link you posted as soon as I get the dishes washes

Congratulations on the newest great grandchild Ruth! So glad he is here and hope both he and DGD are doing well. 6# is a nice size baby to deliver better that than too big. I figure they will be released from the hospital tomorrow? THat seems to be the way, only one overnight once the baby is born.
CJ that is a really cool sashed star block. I love 9 patch squares, they are just so pretty. Do you have any idea what fabrics you will use to make the quilt?
HL was great- I stayed out of fabrics but did get some kid craft ideas. Heavy rain here now.....but we do need it badly. GInny

Ruth we were posting at the same time. Here they generally have you look at the tick and see if it is engorged and also how long it has been on you. If its only a short amount of time they tend to take a wait and see attitude. Yes, I got some gardening in this am, but showered afterwards...and of course changed my clothes.
