We have deer here but I don't think we have deer ticks. We do have ticks but another kind. In Arkansas when we had our "fishing shack" there, there were just an unreal number of ticks. It was horrible. They were lonestar ticks and they have them in Indiana too. They don't cause any specific illness I don't think. At least I never got any illness from them and I had a LOT of ticks on me at times.
Well I really messed up the shawl. I was all done with the hard part and decided to go back to the beginning and take out a few rows to take out a row that was a mistake. Well doing that was a huge mistake because after spending many hours taking all those stitches out (it's not easy) I found that it messed up the next row and there's not really any way to fix that. So I started a new one and will rip that one out sometime when I want to use that yarn for something else. I think it may end up being a triangle scarf...one of the ones I plan to make for Christmas. And I got to thinking that since I need to make 12 of them I'd better get busy because I have to make at least 3 a month to get them done in time.If I get crunched for time I can put off 3 of them till after Christmas because for my son's family they will be for birthdays.

Just did some quick research and actually deer ticks are found in every state except Hawaii, but the largest concentration is along the east coast and west to the Great Lakes - South to Texas. Here we have been told that the tick has to be attached for 24 hours before it can transmit disease. I try to limit exposure, use bug spray and plan my gardening day so that I shower and change quickly after I am done. The one place my friend likes to walk, has been a problem - the last two times we went there I removed a tick from me (which was just walking on my pants). And we are walking on a trail, not through brush or tall grass. They are just out there. Much better to quilt or read on my deck. No ticks involved there.
Ruth, I am so sorry that the pocket shawl did not work out. Good idea to move on to make another shawl, It must be so frustrating that the existing shawl is so difficult to take apart, and I hope that the yarn holds up well through that process. Oh my - 12 triangle shawls in 6 months!!! ( I would struggle to get one done). But we know you will be fine doing that and work well under pressure.
Got an errand to run this am and then am picking up the little ones for an overnight. I will have all 3 grands except the baby who will go to DD’s mother in law. DSIL is giving a party for Dd (surprise ) so a night without kids would be nice.
Hope to stop back later. G

Most of the ticks here potentially can spread Rocky Mt Spotted Fever, Colorado tick fever, and tulurimia. Deer ticks supposedly may be here in very small numbers but there's never been a Lyme disease here that was contacted here in our state.
Now my dgd has postpartum pre eclampsia. My neices daughter in law developed congestive Heart failure after her child was born about 3 years ago so luckily they found my dgd's high bp before she went home and are treating it
Ginny, have fun with the children. It's great that the baby is going to be staying with the other grandparents so that you're free to do things with the older ones. The shawl won't be hard to rip out because I'll be doing that from the other end where it's very easy, sometimes too easy, to rip out. I just hate that I struggled to do the diamond pattern on it and now have no choice but to rip out the whole thing.
CJ, I loved that video but yes I didn't care all that much for her choice of fabrics. I'm sure your choices are going to be great

Well Looks like everyone is very busy today. I've been crocheting then cleaning and cooking and now will get back to crocheting again. Holidays are like any other day to me. I know Phyl is busy. She always is and with the holiday they must have plans to get together.
dgd was much improved today so she and the baby went home.
Ginny, how did your evening and night with the grandchildren go. It's always fun for the children when they get to spend the night with Grandma

Ruth, thanks for the update on DGD and her sweet little one. Glad they were both released today- many times those situations resolve themselves quickly within a few hours.. My BP soared after Dd was born - which resolved within a day or so. The doctor indicated it was due to my precipitous labor. How big was the little one? Do you have any plans to see him and DGD?
Phyl, you sure do have a lot of plans for this weekend! Sorry you were not able to be comfortable and rest well...hope that you can sleep well tonight.
CJ- well, I got pulled into the rabbit hole of Chesapeake Shores - which they have been playing all afternoon. Think I am in season 2 now, its a good series. I like the characters and the story line. Were you checking out the quilting blogs today?
Grandkids were pretty good last night- Dd was here to pick them up early this am. We all actually got some sleep too! I did get o church this am and then came home and took a short nap. Finally finished getting the baby quilt binding on and now have to hand sew it. I could machine sew it, but know that it will turn out better for me if I hand sew.
So glad tomorrow is a holiday and schools are closed, so I am home. Not sure if I will attend the local Memorial Day parade, It was something Dh and I used to do- will see if I think its appropriate for me to do so.
See you in the morning! Ginny

Ginny, he was 6lbs 3 oz. Dgd said she didn't want to have anyone see him for two weeks. Well good luck with that. I'm sure her sisters are not going to wait that long but I probably will. One of the reasons is that I don't know if she's with her boyfriend who lives with his grandmother or if she's at her own apartment. I for sure wouldn't go to the grandmother's home and I also don't care to see her boyfriend..long story.Maybe I'll invite her to come over here. It sounds like you had a good day relaxing and watching tv.
I'm half way on the body of the last pocket shawl and hope to finish 15 of the remaining 30 inches this evening. Then I have to make the pockets and do the edging AFTER I weave in the hundres of ends.I think I'll make the pockets fold up ones again. So actually I only have to do 10 more inches of this block stitch pattern (with all it's ends that need weaving in) because I plan to make the pockets a plain hdc so will make that 20 inches to make the length in plain hdc too. 40 inches of plain hdc is much easier than all the block stitches. It will be 20 inches of hdc added for the underneath part of the pocket and another 20 for the tops....that way, too, the pockets could actually be used without things falling out through the openings between blocks and plus no one will see the back of the pockets anyway so why do it.
