Pinky, I agree with you about that mother. In some ways we really do live in a completely different world, I do know that.
If any of you watch QVC, I think they might sell some of the jewelry that come from that girl's grandmother's company. It is Judith Ripka. Apparently she was the first woman jewelry designer to have her own show on QVC. So, you know this girl comes from money. I am totally out of touch with what the teenagers are wearing now. I know that it is possible that some of them are wearing $200 jeans. No one around here would show up in Wrangler's, or even Levi's.
I did a lot of shopping this morning. Bed Bath and Beyond, but I bought a shelf unit that I finally decided to break down and try, and I took the last one they had and it was missing pieces, so that goes back. I then stopped at Total Wine, and next Trader Joe's, where I really stocked up on some things, and filled in some veggies to make along with dinners. I had some frozen cauliflower rice I was going to use the other day, and it ended up that it must have been there since we lost power and it couldn't be used. Got a bag of that, but it's fresh, so that will be one meal this week, cauliflower fried rice. I have frozen shrimp. They have a lot of frozen foods that I just like to have around for those times we don't like to cook, or DH isn't particularly hungry, and he will have. I was totally out of that stuff. Now I have to go cancel my Imperfect Foods order.

We had something awful happen. Our next door neighbor died. He is the DH of our neighbor who died just a month ago. We were eating dinner last night and 2 policemen showed up on our door step. They asked if we had seen him lately and said another neighbor called for a wellness check because he hadn't seen him. We hadn't seen him for several days, but that really wasn't unusual. Their house is on the corner so the front door is facing our street but their back door and garage are on the intersecting street so the neighbor who called would be more aware of his coming and goings. We gave the police what little information we had. They were at the house for a while then a police van showed up. I wanted DH to go out to see what was going on, but he wouldn't. He walked over to the other neighbor this morning who said the police broke into the house and found him dead in bed. The police van was a crime scene truck which has to come whenever someone is found deceased in a house. They wouldn't tell the neighbor what was found, of course. We don't know if was a medical condition, suicide or a broken heart. It is just so sad and shocking. He didn't look good at his wife's memorial service, but they had been married a long time and he had been her caregiver for 4 or 5 years so it was understandable that he didn't look great. They didn't have children.
We got more rain last night and this morning. It is only 70 right now.
I can't imagine paying $200 for a skirt. I usually shop at JCPenney or Kohls and occasionally Dillards and Belk. All of them have good sales and I try not to pay full price for anything. About the only time I would pay full price is if I needed something right then.
SIL's husband had a stroke last week. He is 77. It was mild as these thing go. He has some weakness in one of his eyes. He is going to rehab this week. This is DH's oldest sister's husband.

Carol, I think that is a very common occurrence, one spouse dying right after the other, especially when one is a care taker of the other for a long time. So sorry that you had something so upsetting happen on a weekend. Sorry to hear about your DBIL too, but sounds like it wasn't such a bad one. I know a few people who have had what have turned into milder strokes in the past few years. One person is only in her 50's, but she was having different heart issues as well. The other is someone who I think is a year or so younger than I am, who luckily had a feeling something wrong was happening, and they called 911 right away.

Robin---I am not a QVC watcher. I guess if this is a very well do to family it probably does not seem so out of line, but I think a 13 year old still should not be given a credit card.
Carol---oh my--that is terrible. I agree with Robin that it is not unusual for spouses to die so close together like that. But it will be interesting to hear what happened for sure. Sorry about DBIL and having a stroke. Glad it was not worse. Next week I am coming up on a year ago that I had a stroke and so very thankful my outcome was good.
