Hope that everyone had a good weekend.
I am going to try to get a short walk in, as its warm and humid already out there. I am working with a trainee this am, and by the time I get home I doubt I will want to be outside much. Last night I got the binding strips cut and switched my machine around to get it ready for straight stitching instead of free motion work.
I will most likely harvest some more catnip today and hang it to dry. Looks like catnip has taken over my garden and I absolutely have enough to keep my cats and DD’s cat happy with catnip. Think I will take some over to my neighbor who I know has cats. I usually dry the stuff and then make little pillows (about 3 inch square) with fabric scraps, and stuff them with the catnip. The cats love it. And the kitten does seem to like that falling charms quilt, and became frustrated when I folded it up and put it away.

Not sure how this worked out but I did not purchase enough fabric for the binding…..heading up to HL tomorrow to fix that problem. I only need a 1/4 yard.

Hello Ginny - Your quilt is beautiful and the machine quilting looks wonderful. I know that took a lot of work for that design all over the quilt. I hope you can get the material you need for the binding. Ruth - I hope you got all your septic tank problems finished and you're working on another new project. I watched some of the video to make the Betta fish and it's really cute. Phyl - I have a few Creative Grids rulers, you are right they are expensive. But I liked the Pineapple and Log Cabin ones that I bought. I've also bought a few MSQC rulers that work well - tumblers and kite. Sue - Hope you are well. Hope everyone's weather is not too bad. It's very hot and sunny here and supposed to be that way for several days. I finished snowballing the 36 quilt blocks for the Fat Quarter Fancy quilt. You have to snowball them on 2 sides, so while I was doing that I went ahead and drew a line to keep the corner pieces as half square triangles - so now I have 72 of those. I ordered a Perfectly slotted trimmer ruler from MSQC that I should be getting soon, so I want to try it on these half square triangle pieces and then I can figure out a quilt to use them in. I also figured out the layout I want for the 36 blocks, so I'm ready to sew them together and hope to get that done soon. Hope you all are getting some crafting done. Take care!

I'm really late today. We went out and took care of some errands and some shopping. So we went to 3 stores and the post office. There are still a lot of people using masks but much less than previously. We didn't use masks. I went to a different post office today since last time the clerk was rude and I think he charged me double what he should have charged. The woman today was just wonderful.
I didn't really get much crocheting done yesterday at all. I worked on a swirling heart hat and it's time consuming with all single crochets and changing colors so often..
We're now home, have had dinner and I'm ready to sit and crochet.Tomorrow I might do some painting but who knows. I might change my mind. I do have weeds to pull too.
Ginny, your kitties will be very happy with all that catnip. Too bad you have to go backto the fabric store for just 1/4 yard of the fabric you need.
CJ, what's snowballing? I guess I could look that up. YOu are getting a lot more quilting done than I am crocheting.
This evening I'm going to work on the gifts for the guys that will go to Montana with the pocket shawls for the girls. ONe of the stores we went to was Dollar Tree where I bought some little things for the boys. Each of the two families has one child...my very cute great grandsons #1&2 who we born withing three weeks of each other. they will soon be five...it's hard to believe they're that age already. Oh and I found out that Dollar Tree is now selling things that cost more than $1 so when I discovered that I had to look carefully that I wasn't getting things that cost more. Not that I would have minded if it was something I really wanted to get but always before you just had to pick up things becausethey were all that same price. I did pick up some of their yarn but put it back. I have enough yarn. Not saying there isn't some I want but it will take me a few lifetimes to use what I have now.

Good afternoon- Ruth, my dollar tree has done that for awhile, sold a few items that were over a dollar in price. Yes you have to watch out for that. I am still not completely understanding their pricing of greeting cards- some are a dollar some are 50 cents. Is your family from Montana still visiting your state or will those gifts have to be mailed? Yes kids sure do grow up fast. Too fast for sure!!! Did you figure out what yarn you will use for the pocket shawls?
CJ-save those HST’s!!! Do you have any plans for them? I have a heard good about the slotted trimmer ruler, I hear it makes it much easier. Hope that arrives soon. Looking forward to seeing the quilt now that you have the layout done!!!
Heading to HL later on to get my fabric. I just love how these two fabrics look together.
Still hot here….stay inside and craft! Ginny

Ginny, the two fabrics really are cute and they really do go together wonderfully! And,ok, you can see an indent in one or two swirls but no one is perfect and you will get better and better at it as you do it more.Basically it's beautiful and no one will even notice any small abnormalities, they'll be too busy looking at the beauty of the quilt.

Hello Ruth - I'm glad you were able to get some errands done and found a post office with a nice clerk. I've met my share of nice and not so nice postal clerks. Ginny - The binding fabric you picked does match the quilt backing really well. I think your machine quilting is wonderful. I bet there isn't one free motion quilter who does quilts on their domestic machine that can do absolutely perfect quilting. Hope you can get the binding done soon. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's another really hot day here, and sunny. I'm just staying inside as much as possible. I finished piecing the Fat Quarter Fancy quilt top together this morning. After looking at the finished project I wished I'd put some of the blocks in a different order, but it's done now. I did deliberately arrange some of the fabrics, but didn't think about doing all of them that way This top finished at 50x50. I really liked this pattern and I would make it again with different fabrics. I was happy to get to use these blue and white fabrics, since I'm pretty sure I've had them for over 10 years. There are 3 quilt alongs starting next month that I might participate in. I'm trying to see if I have fabrics for them. The only problem I'm running into is that two of them need 3 yards of a background fabric and I don't have 3 years of any white/cream fabric. I have 2 yards and 2.5 yards, but not 3 yards. So I might try going to JoAnn's this week and see if I can buy some larger pieces. Here's a picture of the Blue and White quilt: Take care everyone!

CJ- the blue and white quilt is so very pretty! I can see a real method to your madness and I would not change a thing about the layout. Obviously you were looking for symmetry and because its a quilt with limited number of fabrics (as opposed to a crazy right scrappy quilt) I think that going for a symmetrical look is perfect an so elegant. Very very nice…..I do really like it. Now get yourself to Joanns to pick up 3 yards of cream fabric!!! Ha ha ha. I am such an enabler, aren’t I ??
Ruth, are you onto pocket shawls now? How has your weather been today?
Ok so it was a brave moment posting an up close picture of my not so good free motion work, but I did want to show how lovely I think that the border and binding fabrics go. I LOVE both fabrics and did get to HL I was in a toss up to buy either 1 1/2 yds of the binding fabric or 2 yards and then she unrolled the fabric and 2 yards were already cut out- so I took them. I love the fabric and will be using some of it for the mini quilt that I want to make for the kitten for when she sits on the dining room table. So I will cut 2 more binding strips and sew them together this evening….then will start putting the binding on. I am actually looking forward to hand sewing it on,as nuts as that sounds. Its something mindless I can do while watching TV.
Hi to Phyl and Sue. Ginny

evening girls,
Ginny you did great on the free motion,I have seen a lot not so good and worse ones. mine being one on the practice pieces.
we have a gal in our guild who is a wonderful quilter, she would be a close one to prefect. she gets contracted to make special quilts and does them all on her home domestic machine, no extra bells or whistles or modern day machine yes she does king size quilts..
her story is a interesting one,she started quilting when she found out she had ms and it has helped her big time. she wins ribbons in big quilt shows.
I MADE A BIG MESS IN MY SEWING ROOM YESTERDAY.there is a pumpkin wall hanging I want To do.HAD IT FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
I knew I had buttons for it. thought They were in a little baggie. took everything out of of one drawer. most of it is still on the machine cabinet and ironing board.I Was looking for a little baggie.
so today I WAS going to order the button package.after looking on line and the emblemsment package I knew where they were. I FORGOT ABOUT THE STRAW
LIKE STUFF ALSO.ALL THE BUTTONS DID NOT FALLOUT.all 13 were there. I SAVED 18.00 today, that is half of the kit think I NEED A BIG DUMPSTER TO CLEAN OUT THESE DRAWERS.

CJ, yet another beautiful quilt!! I agree with Ginny and think it's perfect. I love the blues and how you positioned them! It's to get very hot again here tomorrow. I saw on the news a couple days ago that Portland, Oregon had a temp of 113 and they didn't mention that it was heat index so I thought they meant real temp but I could have missed that part. Ginny, I'm done with pocket shawls. I've made one for everyone now. For Christmas I was thinking triangle scarves not shawls but after the trouble I had with the shawl cardigan I decided to do either the tote bags I mentioned along with some other small item that is yet to be determined or some lacey scarves I saw a pattern for the other day. Maybe the kitten will decide that she still wants the large quilt and will tell you that you have to have the small one . Actually I'm sure she'll love her own..esp if you rub it with catnip I didn't get the guy things done last evening as I planned because I just was kind of tired of crocheting. I'll work on them tonight. They are probably useless gifts but at least they will know I thought about them. I'm making each of them (2) a back scrubber and a soap holder that the pattern writer says is soap on a rope.
