I'm sorry to hear that you didn't sleep well again last night. I hope you can sleep and get really rested tonight,Ginny.
Phyl, when I'm looking for something I usually make a mess too. Yesterday I was looking for a toilet repair kit I knew we had. Searched high and low and couldn't find it in the area where I thought I had seen it. Finally accidentally found it in a box in the garage after I had given up. I hope you found what you were looking for.
I've been busy today cooking. Made some of my homemade chicken strips, some chili, and some potato salad to go with the chicken strips. Chili probably sounds strange for such hot weather but my dh likes it no matter the weather. I think I'll cook some lemon pudding to make a lemon pie with. Graham cracker crust will be good but I may put that off till tomorrow
I did finish one of the back scrubbies last night and got half of the hanging soap holder done. That back scrubbie was a little hard to do with the alternating sc and treble. Most of the time that's easy to do but now with Peaches and Cream cotton yarn. It has no give. I'll try to finish another tonight using a different stitch and both soap holders.

Hello Everyone Phyl - That table topper is really cute! I like the Starlite quilt too. The thing I like about Pat Sloan's website and Facebook page are the pictures that everyone shares. I check out her Facebook page (Quilt along with Pat Sloan) every day. When the quilt alongs are going on quilters show their weekly blocks. I get a lot of ideas from what everyone shares. www.facebook.com/groups/QuiltWithPatSloan Ginny - I hope that you sleep better tonight. I've had a few bad nights this week too, I'm wondering if it's the heat. Hope you can get working on the quilt binding. Ruth - The food you cooked sounds good. I love lemon pie, hope you get to make that and enjoy it. You've sure made some lovely items for your family, I hope they all enjoy them and use them. Sue - Hope you are doing well. It's very hot here today, heat index was over 100. I think it gets cooler the rest of the week. I finished the hand binding on the small hand quilted piece (18x18) today, so I met my June goal of getting every piece that was quilted finished with the binding on it. Yeah for me I don't know if I'll be doing much hand finishing for my binding. I like the stitching, but my stitches kind of puckered the binding some (I'm probably pulling too tight) and it's really difficult to see where to stitch because I'm using the same color thread as the binding! I actually like the look of machine finished better, except maybe on a hand quilted piece. I hadn't planned to start another project, but I've had 2 fabrics pulled for several months that I wanted to make a quilt with and I made the blocks today. It's just a simple single Irish Chain. I hope to get the top pieced together before Saturday since that is when the first quilt along starts. I'm also hoping I have enough of the fabrics for a few borders. Take care everyone!

hi and good evening, yes Ruth I Did find it.
today we got to eat in MCD'S new lobby. one of the stores got remolded. they should have left things alone. now we have to use a kolski to order ,can still pay cash. orders are being bagged no trays.you can serve yourself soda..
my biggest concern is the bathroom. you go in the door and there are puddles..
my cane almost went out from under me.they have the sinks and the air dyer is close to the door.
well people don't know how to shake the water out of their hands at the sink, water gets dripped on the floor.
I had to stand holding my cane, one hand under the dryer and then switch hands, and I was about 6 inches away from the dryer..
so the owners will be getting a letter from me.they know me from working there.
won't change anything but they will have been warned, they will probably just put out a wet floor sign that won't mean nothing.
think my feeling like a summer flu is acid reflux, been burping a lot and some days feel bad for awhile.almost like I should go to walk in,then in time goes away. phyl

CJ,Definitely yay for you and congratulations on accomplishing your goal!! I love looking at your quilts as well as the links you share with us.
Phyl, that is very dangerous for McD's to have a wet floor like that. Someone is going to slip in the water and get hurt. I'm glad that someone wasn't you. I'm glad you're writing a letter to inform them of the situatipn. That happened to me when I was with my dd when she had her last child (back in 2005). I was leaving the hospital. It was late at night and as I walked down the corridor the fire doors were closed so I pushed one open and stepped through and landed on my rear. Luckily it was well padded back then so no damage. Yes on the ohter side of the door which was the lobby there was a wet floor sign. there was no sign on the main corridor side. I was going to call and report that but never did and I've been sorry ever since because it was a bad practice and who knows if anyone was ever injured because of that.

Good morning all!!
Phyl- I would contact Mc Donalds (the corporation) using email or phone. Yes you have contacted the local restaurant but this is a corporate decision and the last thing they would want is a law suit. Glad you found those buttons you were looking for. I did check out that cute pumpkin table topper. Are you working on that? Love the use of color in the fabrics it adds such a neat dimension to change the color squares that way.
Ruth, I can understand chili in the summer- it tastes great by itself or also as a topping on other foods. Yes, that peaches and cream yarn has no give at all. Its great because it absorbs so well, and would be perfect for a back scrubby or a soap holder. Are you using the peaches and cream for both projects?
CJ- yes that is a great thing about Pat Sloanes quilts and web site, so many post their blocks and its always neat to see how others interpret a patttern through use of color and pattern. Congrats on meeting your June goal! The hot weather was perfect for that. I do the same thing as you and use a matching thread for the binding to finish it. You had made it a goal to work on your machine binding, so which puts you in a great position to finish your projects. Sounds like you needed to power through the mental hurdle of putting bindings on - and you have done that well. Thanks for posting the links for those quilt projects. I did just order the star quilt directions - from my experience yesterday I realized that I need the pattern and that pattern fit the bill.
Went to the quilt shop with Jane and her Dd yesterday. I had a coupon, but really no project in mind. As we left the shop (where I bought nothing) I realized that I need a tonal white fabric for the scrappy quilt I want to make. But it would have been foolish to buy fabric as I am unsure what the fabric requirements are. I have the colored fabrics needed…that brings me to the star quilt that CJ posted. I had been looking for a pattern, something similar to what CJ posted or a carpenter star. What I like about the pattern is it gives the option to enlarge the quilt, or make it scrappy. So I ordered the pattern.
Got a quiet day ahead….going to go for a walk and probably to the library to pick up a book I ordered.
Have a great day all

I wonder where those people in Pat Sloan's fb group got the fabric with Bible verses on it and the other fabric that they woman made into a baby quilt
One woman said she saw the large piece on clearance at Walmart. My Walmart doesn't have fabric anymore. We have two Walmarts so I don't know if the other still has fabric or not. I know they had fabric like that at HL but not much of it. Not like I need fabric though. I don't know that I'll get to any sewing for some time since I have so many crochet projects to do.

Ruth, I have seen on Etsy fabrics that have Bible verses on them- and I would figure that fat quarters.com or all fabrics.com might have that too. If you had the time and the inclination, what might you make with it? Yes I can imagine that the right fabric would make an awesome baby quilt. I have 2 Walmart’s near- both about the same distance from me but neither really close. The one has always had fabric and they have sort of brought back more. The other one used to have a really nice fabric department, which they discontinued for quite a few years. About 5 years ago they brought fabrics back and while its not a lot, its still a good amount. The walmart that has a really nice fabric department is in the next state over and a fairly long drive.
Got the binding all attached and now will start hand sewing. Maybe tonight I will start reading the directions for the 3 yard quilt I want to make. Or perhaps I will do both. I patched the sheet rock in the family room (actually just cut out the patch and will screw it in tomorrow.). Will pick up the paint tomorrow, or Saturday. Think its time for me to relax a bit. Ginny

Hello Phyl - I'm glad you didn't fall. Hope you are feeling better too. The kitty at the sewing machine was cute. Ruth - If you do a search on Google and/or Amazon for "Quilting Fabric with Religious Sayings", you'll see some fabric that is for sale. There are so many posts on Pat Sloan's Facebook, I'm not sure which one you were looking at. Ginny - I hope you like the Starlite pattern and that you had a nice quiet day. Sue - Hope you are doing well. It was hot here today too, but we had some storms come through this afternoon and now it's cooler outside. Of course, it's still hot in my house. I went to JoAnn's today and found several pieces of white on white fabrics and a few other fabrics that I can use for the quilt alongs. I'm still kind of shocked at how little quilting fabric they are stocking now. I guess more people are buying fabric online, or maybe they are having problems getting stock. There couldn't have been more than 15 bolts of purple fabric! I hope that tomorrow morning I can finish piecing the quilt top I started yesterday. Then I'll be ready for the first day of one of the quilt alongs on Saturday. Take care everyone!

Both of our Walmarts announced several years ago that they would discontinue selling fabric. Many people protested so the brought it back in the one across town and finally brought it back at the one nearest me. Now that nearest one had no fabric last time I was there and had taken away the cutting table and all. I haven't been to the Walmart of the other side of town. I know they always had more yarn than the one that's nearer.
I do think that stores are losing business because of online purchasing but then when they cut down on things in their stores it makes that issue even worse
Ginny, yes I'm making both back scrubbers...which are now completed...and both soap holders with either peaches n cream or sugar n cream. Not sure what's what because all my labels seem to be missing.I have everything done but one soap holder.I'll make that tonight.
This hot weather, which I like because I don't have to worry about frozen pipes, is really hard on me this year. I have no energy and always feel drowsy. It's hard to get things done in the part of the house that's so hot.I'd bet that the rest of you are suffering effects of the heat too

Good morning and Happy Friday my friends!
CJ- hurray for cooler temps- even if it does bring some rain. glad you were able to get to Joanns- even going out is more pleasant when temps are a bit cooler. Now you are all set for the quilt alongs, which should keep you busy through the fall! Hope that you can get the quilt top completed this morning so that you are ready to start the quilt alongs.
Ruth- did Dh ever get the airconditioner installed in your house? Just want to make sure that you and he are able to stay cool and stay safe. I heard on the news of an elderly woman in a local town who I guess called for help because of the heat. She was not feeling well, and was taken to the hospital (she is still there but is expected to be released soon). The local police installed a window air conditioner in her home- donated by one of the officers. A nice story for sure. That police department takes the motto “ to protect and to serve” seriously- which most do. Make sure you are drinking enough Ruth, dehydration can really mess up with our bodies. I hope that you are waiting for cooler temps to paint that door, and the other outdoor projects. I guess if you were super curious you could check online which color cotton yarn you are using from which manufacturer. Peaches n cream and sugar n cream probably do not have the same colors….they do not have a full line of colors in crochet cotton (not like supersaver) if I remember correctly.
Phyl- thanks for the heads up and confirmation of what CJ and Ruth are seeing….

Phyl- (sorry had to leave the IPad for a minute and figured I had better post before the post got lost)-have you had trouble finding items you were looking for? As we use a lot of those basic fabrics and threads its good advice to be well stocked on staples like basic thread colors and those tonal fabrics.
Funny that CJ mentioned tonal white fabrics. For that starlite quilt I will need a tonal white and the first thing I did this am on the IPad was to check MIssouri and see what they had. I will either go to Joanns or the quilt shop to get what I need, I think. Or perhaps Hobby Lobby. I want to have the other fabrics with me to evaluate which tonal white I want. What I do not understand is why stores are cutting back on fabric- which honestly, is better purchased in person. And considering that most distributors sold out of basic sewing machines during the pandemic (due to mask making) you would think that these individuals would use those machines for something else also- whether it would be garments, home decorating items or more masks. And obviously you need fabric to go along with that. I hope that the stores restock. Makes me rather sad not to be able to do into a store and actually see and feel the fabrics.
I am very very thankful that for at least a day or so, I can shut the air conditioner off and have the windows open. Its a blessing to hear the birds chirping.
Got an appointment with the eye doctor today so i will be out for a little while.
Is anyone planning on watching fireworks this weekend?
I did both check out the directions for the small quilt I want to make for the cat, and started hand sewing the binding on the falling charms. I am using a brown thread instead of a rust colored thread, but its using what I have in the house and the color is blending in well enough.
Have a great day Ginny
